Who are the players who have won 15 or more PDGA tournaments in a year in the MPO division?
I believe Barry Schultz, Nikko Lacastro, Geoff Bennett & Coda Hatfield have done it, who else?? |

I'd be surprised if Climo isn't on that list. Mitch McLellan also.

Depends on how far back you go. Even Tom Monroe, Greenwell, Hosfeld, Stokely, Randolph, Lissaman might be on that list when they were touring.

I think wins is the most overrated stat in our sport. If the top players played local events only, they would each have 25 - 30 a year.
A Tier, NT and major wins and money earnings are the important figures in our sport.

Not all wins are equal for sure, but 15 wins in any competitive region is quite an accomplishment. John Brooks is probably another.

Schwebby had 15+ in 2008.
I'm sure Larry Leonard has done it as well.

I'm a stats guy and one thing this sport lacks is a goto stats/records site. Hosfeld had a
page of records that was cool but was only current thru 2000. I wish I had the resources to make this happen, maybe one day.

I think (fill in the blank) had _ wins in a row in (random year).
You're gonna get a lot of guestimates here. Put in the effort and figure it out.

Justin Bunnell won 3 A-tiers in a row a few years ago,,,maybe 2007.
what about Total PDGA wins??? I know John E McCray has a little over 100! I think Nikko is at like 48 in 4-1/2 years. |

My best was in '08 with 6 wins in a row I believe. The dates are all messed up, but I seem to remember going for 7 in a row and getting 2nd. Of course a lot of those are local wins and smaller tourneys so they are not as impressive as others who may get three or four big wins in a row like Justin! :-)
I tried to add up my Open wins from the PDGA stats and it looks like around 70. I know there are others before the 2001 dates that are listed, so it may be up around 80+. I think my first open tournament was in '96 so who knows, wish I had kept better stats myself. I would think people like Moser, Schweb, Rico, and Schultz would have well over 100 career wins as well.

After quickly looking, Schwebby is very near 100 wins as well. I would also bet Geoff Bennett has to be up on that list and he didn't start competing in the Open until around '06 maybe?

Pretty sure that Larry Leonard is over 100 wins for his career. Also, he has won 7 PDGA's in a row and has had around 11 wins in a season.
I would bet that Mela has to be in the conversation as well. |

2010 was my fourth season in the Open division and my best year to date.
I won a total of 12/33 Events and my longest streak was 3 wins in a row. All my wins are in the NW and many of them were small C tiers with little competition. A few of my wins were against pretty solid fields. Not quite 15 wins in a season, but I'm pretty stoked considering I'd only won 5 events total before this season. I too am a stats guy, so here is a breakdown of stats from my season - I think this format would be condusive to seeing how strong a win is and determining who the real best players are. Again, I had a lot of wins this season, but many of them were against small fields with low field strength. Here are a few wins I had this season. The stats I feel are important to include are: Field Size Field Strength (Average Rating of Players) # of 1000 Players in the Field Highest Rated Player in the Field Winning Score Rating of Winning Score Win Margin 1st Place Prize Money ------------------------ Event Name | Date | Location | Tier | Rounds | Field Size | Field Strength | 1000 RP | Highest RP | Winning Score | R Winning Score | Win Margin | Prize The Winter Flurry at Sumner Meadows | Feb. 13 | Sumner, WA | C | 2 | 16 | 980.25 | 2 | 1027 | 95 | 1022 | 3 | $195 Special Olympics Fundraiser | Sept. 5 | McMinnville, OR | C | 2 | 4 | 971.25 | 1 | 1011 | 97 | 1049 | 6 | $84 Oregon Disc Golf Championships | Sept. 18-19 | Goble, OR | B | 3/F9 | 35 | 980.37 | 7 | 1022 | 202 | 1015 | 1 | $600 Wish I could align the columns better so its easier to read, sorry. I bet if you take a sampling of Nikkos wins you see much larger and stronger field strengths, More 1000 rated players, bigger win margins and way bigger prize money. As to be expected. |

Thanks Brad. I miss being out there sometimes. It's been a rough 4 years, lots of changes in my life and still dealing with a bad knee. Getting old I guess. Looking forward to playing more golf real soon. LL is in his own world, no help there.

Great to hear from the Snoop! LL is still alive??
Betcha Joe Mela is well over 100 wins, he has been dominant in the Northeast since 1986. Moser, Jim Myers & Craig Gangloff should be above or near 100 as well. How about wins at one event? Mela has won the Joisey Jam 13 times over the years! |

...excluding Ken of course.
LL has probably won the Horizons, Sneeky Pete and the NC States tournaments more than anyone else. Probably looking around 25 wins or more between the 3. |
