First Annual FrankenFling Disc Golf Tournament

Hello Raleigh Area Disc League,

Our Disc Golf Company, DKG Disc Sports, is joining forces with Special Olympics to offer a fundraiser tournament on October 23rd, 2010 to support their efforts to fund year-round training and competition to Special Needs athletes. As athletes ourselves, we know how important it is for them to get out there, relax and have a great time with their friends - but none of this would be possible without the generous contributions of citizens' money, time, and leadership. It is our hope that this charity tournament will: (1) Promote the growth of an overall disc golf community, (2) Introduce disc golf to Special Needs athletes, and (3), of course, Have a great time and raise a good deal of money for them.

If you're not a disc golfer and/or you've got friends who have been looking to get into their first tournament - this is a great time! You don't need to be a professional or even amateur athlete to participate in this event. Based on other Special Olympic's events in the area, and the phenomenal support received from Greek and other collegiate organizations - we've opened up a GREEK category into the tournament and will be pairing an AM or Special Athlete with all experienced players. (Also, there will be unlimited $1 mulligans available for purchase which will be donated straight to Special Olympics should the worst happen...)

Of course, all proceeds from the tournament will go directly to Special Olympics Guilford/Greensboro, but to add a bit of fun and flair considering the season - there will a costume contest!
