Cheech,
yeah it is called a controlled burn and they try to do it every year. they did not do it the past 2 years due to the droubt. they will be discussing it at the parks meeting next tuesday that i posted about in the meetings thread. they do it to control the bugs and keep the underbrush thin in the woods surrounding the park. alothough it causes a little grief jsut after the burn it is a good thing. furthermore i am glad chi brought this up because Dave's tree service has been hired to remove the 2 trees flagged on hole 6 as well as the dead tree at the corner of hole 4 down by the basket. Dave Matteson of the county parks department should have the exact date of when the tree service will be out there. it will be next week sometime. keep your fingers crossed everybody. The new Practice putting basket sleeve was installed yesterday. Thanks out to Greg Davis, Nick Hoffman, Brant Calkin. Dave George, and John Moncreif, for their help in getting this done.
It was a long and tedious process but it is finally here. The final installation will be Monday evening February 22nd at 6 p.m. Come on out for the kickoff. Props out to the Corning Disc League and the New Hanover Disc Golf Club for raising all the funds needed for the purchase of the basket. The Ace Race paid for a chunk of this and the CDL fundraiser discs made up the remainder. Thanks to everyone that contributed. |

damnnnn!!! Thats crazy but a likely story, I have heard from people in charlotte that have history with mr flair crazier stories than this but his daughter getting tazed is just crazy I mean wtf? shes pretty cute but shes a beast dude I mean athletic she probably had the cop in the figure four leg lock! On another note I thought id give a shout at the pcpers that me and gabe steil took down a gaggle of charlotte ams and pros at the second harvest open doubles tourney that took place last weekend at the new course in the crown NEVIN park. Dub towners represent!!! We took first place in the am/am field and was only a few strokes (4-5) from first place in the pros!!! Making our mark quick!!

Nice shooting Gabe and D-Tuck. MOVE UP!
By the way, I used to mow Flair's yard when he lived in Providence Plantation back in 1993 or so. He lived a couple houses down from Mugsy Bogues. |

Just received voicemail from Bill Walker with Forest Service and said if weather cooperates they are scheduled to burn this Friday March 5 2010 at Castle Hayne Park. Mark: They are going to put signage out but we need to close the parks, possibly for the entire day, if we can get the word out. We apologize for any inconvenience but we are at the mercy of the forest service to make the best judgment call as when to complete the controlled burn.

Does anyone happen to need a roommate for the next month? I'm in-between the end of my apartment lease and closing date on a house. I have a hotel set up, I just thought if someone needs some extra cash this would be a good opportunity. No biggie either way.

I made a little adjustment to the course photos page. The photos now open up in a lightbox and are clickable to go to the next photo.
The pics might come up a little big, let me know if they're too big. http://www.newhanoverdgc.com/ Last edited by tymeframe; Apr 25 2010 at 07:00 PM. |

I put a li'l facelift on our club's website. This was done a while back but I haven't been able to get the content moved over until tonight.
Just don't tell Scott Knapp I was doing work outside of the USWDGC's website! ![]() Either way, it's up on a test site. http://www.newhanoverdgc.com/staging/ If you guys approve of the look, I'll set it live. Also, if you have any suggestions on additional site features/functionality, let me know! Last edited by tymeframe; May 20 2010 at 12:34 AM. |
