basket?
No, that's your deal. Per our (me U & Jon's) discussion last night, I am to have it before 7am on Friday morning. I've e mailed Maggie & let her know that I'm prepared to have it to her Friday AM & I don't expect that you & Jon are gonna leave me hangin'. There's no room for error & I'm confident that all my work will not go unrewarded.

Went by to do some putting and B-hole is complete except for the basket. It has the hole dug and ready for pole and cement. Couldn't see how far down the hole was but hope it was at least 5 feet. So all thats left is place in the long post and pour in a few bags of concrete.

A huge thanx to everyone that helped make the new B Hole a reality (especially the cabinet members that make these things happen - thanx boyz)!!! I just left the basket (Thanx Vinnie & Jon) @ the park with the parks workers (Kenny, Xavier, & Raul) & the green is amazing!!! If you happen to see these men in the park, be sure to give them a big thanx. We'll be taking a club picture on the new hole soon - maybe Wednesday - to send to Rick in appreciation for drawing the green for us. (Thanx Rick & P Dub)

Just got off the phone with Maggie @ the parks & the city will be cutting the cable & installing walk ways @ all the regular hole crossings (4-5, 10-A, A-11 - no winter crossing yet) & will be working soon on the deconstruction of the silk fence on C/B hole. I'm hopeful that this engaging proactive behavior continues & that many more projects will be coming together soon for disc golf @ the ROCK!!

Those of you that have said you want to & can help, the time is now - the tournament is a month away. There is too much to be done to wait until the last minute for the physical work & tons of leg work is still to be done behind the computer. There's no reason that with ya'lls help we can't start crossing stuff off the list a lot quicker. So, you can't help when the times are announced for course stuff? Get with Edman & see if there's something you can't take off his plate during your time. This is a Double R Disc Golf Club tournament - one person can't make an event all fluff and perfect. Players have expectations of tournaments in Texas & we (as a club) need to step up to the plate & show 'em what Round Rock is like!

Thanks V, Sheriff, Godbold, C-dub and I think I saw Carroll back there yesterday for going out with me on the SOuth COurse. That is going to be one tough course. We ended up making at least 3 holes alot longer. ROUND ROCK. If it's too long your too old, or your just a whiney *** b^&*.

Almost forgot to thank Jimmie who was also there and helped really bring the big holes into perspective. Which means making them longer of course. Need your help tomorrow before mini. Tony Pugh has stepped up and is making the 9 sleeves we need for the front 9 this weekend. With everything he has going on he's going to make it happen and be sure to thank him the next time you see him. I need a couple of people to meet me at the storage facility at 8:30am to load all the baskets up in my truck so I can get the tabs welded on the baskets Monday night up at my work. I'll also need another truck to haul them from my work back to the storage facility Monday night. We will set all the sleeves Tuesday night.

Got all the sleeves from Tony Saturday. Just waiting to hear back from the parks dept. on the holes they are to dig. My buddy here at work is welding the tabs on the baskets today and I can't get them all in my truck to get back to storage. I'll need help loading them and hauling them between 5-6 tonight. Also need someone to run to Home Depot and get concrete or go with me to get the crete. We'll need about 15 bags so no small task. Big arm can you get us a discount from your work. Let me know if you can get them and the club will pay you back. And that goes for anyone that can get it. Just sound off so we don't get it twice. The workday is planned for tomorrow. Again let us know, I may need to recruit some others if we can't get a good showing. The parks wants the holes filled as quickly as possible to avoid anyone breaking their ankles. Lot's to do and I need everybody's help.

thanks,
edman

Just curious as to why sleeves are being set, rather than using temp baskets. Is it easier to do the sleeves? Or is it that with sleeves in......makes it "easier" the NEXT time around?

I'm up for helping out tomorrow after work...you can put me down. What time?

The baskets the club bought are not portable. To convert them would be expensive and time consuming. Having sleeves in the ground will give us a "foothold" for the future of DG in RR. It's also a security issue, we don't have to worry about them while they are out there or have to haul them to and from the course everyday. We should be able to start at 5ish tomorrow.

your best deal would be Home depot..we sell concrete but it is really priced to high........they have more stores and buy more than we can.........and besides, they cut off our employee discount accounts last year...........so I know yall can get it cheaper at the depot!!!!!

My Welding guy had to run to the Hosp. with his son. I won't need help tonight. This will not stop us from doing the sleeves tomorrow. Just heard from the parks and the holes will be done by tomorrow. I'll let you guys know when I need a hand with the baskets.

Good question JohnE - Sleeves make it easier this time too. We could work to scrounge together 17 baskets of varied quality (years past @ Waterloo ring a bell for anyone) to pull together the south course. We could hope/worry that on game day all 17 baskets showed up on time & then wrangle staff to set them up Saturday @ 7a, pick them up @ 6p, take them all to the storage unit overnight, find people to pick them all up from the storage unit in the am & put them back Sunday @ 7a & pick then up @ 5p - hoping all the while that no one drove into the stadium parking lot & stole 3-5 of them & that no one dropped a basket on it's number plate & bent 419 in half (oops - yes it did happen) & then we could store those baskets that didn't belong to players or that people forgot or didn't have trucks to take them until we found a way to get all of them back to their rightful owners.

Instead, we asked the city to dig 9 holes & Tony was kind enough to make us 18 sleeves & collars the Saturday before he left to get married. Now all we have to do is mix a few bags of crete & set 9 sleeves pick up 9 baskets sometime Friday before Dubs & lock em in - then we go pick them up Monday am & put them back in storage. If the Hott Final is in OSP, we'll pick them up again in November, drop them in the sleeves & lock them down until Monday again.

I know sometimes I get frustrated with you guys & can come off like an *** - that's not my intent this time - I'm actually trying to give you a real explanation of how & why setting these temp holes is easier & better for the short & the long haul. If you can help tonight & can grab a bag of crete or 2 on you way there, we could sure use the help - if not, we'll see you in the fairway. Thanx for comin out.

I guess there is some confusion about this South Course. Don't know why, I have been very forward with my information and communicated clearly with the clubs goals for this course. This is a temporary course that can be used at any time in the furure with approval. This is not a one time shot at creating a 2nd course just for this years Outlaws. This is also a catalyst for the club to get a "foothold" on creating a permanent South Course. We would not be able to use that many of these holes if some day we did make a permanent South Course. But we have to start somewhere and since our feeling is it will be years before the city will approve a perm layout we have this to prod them with and show them that we can bring great events to the city.

As I have known in the past, the passion of a few can't carry a club. It's too bad we all don't want the same thing as far as tournaments go. If you can help great, if not just show up later and enjoy.

Think we thought it'd take 2 - 80lb bags per hole. If we had too much, I'd be happy to return it.

Thanx JohnE - see you out there. Think there's a baseball game, so we may have to really schmooz the parking guy to get around to the back side where we need the crete.

Big thanx to the guys that made it out to help set the sleeves & donated the concrete! Pretty cool how the wind came & cooled of our little mini work day. Still a little trimming to be done on a few holes, I'm sure Edman will call for a full crew work day soon to get her all prettified. Larry, the collars came out great! Thanx to you & Deb for donating your day off to this project.

Just 4 weeks away now & things are coming together - this sure would be alot easier if more people that enjoyed the fruit helped with some of the labor. There it is, my 1st icon since the board transfer - I still don't like them, but you I needed the extra expression.

Yes HUGE THANK YOU to. Blake, V, John E, Edman, Laura, myself for dropping in 9 collars probably in record time. AND EVEN A BIGER THANK YOU TO Larry K, Debbie and Tony P for making this all possible and all the people that did not show misssed the dell diamond kids bouncy thing get air born and thrown about 50ft from the wind storm that blew in, now that was cool. south course still needs some trimming as Lala said so please try and show up whenever possible to make Outlaws an event people will not forget. See you Turds at the rock around 4:30 Random Draw so come get some.

There should be a big turnout since there is golf involved. I can't think of any other folks I would rather hang out with and do manual labor than with you guys. Thanks, again.
