I was kind of disappointed to see that the author has a short memory, as late registration, wait lists, etc., for 2011 Pro Worlds was the exact same scenario, and turned into a complete fiasco. And in the end, PDGA did not honor the wait lists, anyways. So I don't think people should be getting too high of expectations for how 2012 Worlds wait lists will be handled, since they'll probably just throw those away, too.
Basic Lesson: Don't wait! Get your butt registered now, if you want to play!

No short memory here. Several of your suppositions are inaccurate. The 2011 Pro Worlds did NOT fill from invites, it only filled after it was opened up to non-invitees. Waitlists for non-invitees were honored, but when spots opened up at the event itself many of the waitlist people were not available and those who were standing there available to play, got the spots. BTW - there were spots that were reserved for invitees by the TD but those all filled prior to registration opening up. That is not true for 2012, other than a few corrupted records in the database that we fixed and subsequently issued late invites for, the 2012 registration has been first-come first-serve and for the first time we will publish the waitlists.
