That would be nice, but after talking to lots of reporters (Sports and General News) over the past few years I don't get the impression that they are interested in reporting on our competitions yet. Spending a few minutes on disc golf in the sports segment of a TV newscast takes away those minutes from Padres coverage, or Chargers or Tiger's mistresses, but I digress. Until our sport gets to the point that 50% of the population knows what disc golf is and has played it, we only merit the 2-minute "human interest" story at the end of the newscast.

But, it's worth a try, if someone has an in to a TV person.

An alternative is to start sending results from every local competition to the newspapers, and they'll put it in the "Community Sports" or "Local Sports" section that runs once or twice a week. Then the reporters get used to the fact that there is regular competition in our sport. I've done this off and on for Montiel and Emerald Isle, but let it fall by the wayside. One thing to keep in mind: if you're going to send results to the newspaper, you need to have players' first and last names. Newspapers won't print nicknames in the results.

Sending results to the newspaper...might be a good job for a club Secretary?
