my question for dave about the plastic process is, how long typically is the timeline from the idea of a disc to prototyping to actual production?
This depends on several things. I am currently working on a mold that took years to actually design and build. It was finally done and now we are looking for the perfect blend of plastics to run it.

Most molds take about four months from conception to sales. Sometimes less and sometimes more. Once the mold is designed, it takes almost two months to get the mold made and loaded into the injection molding machine for initial testing. If that goes well, and we have the particular materials necessary to make the parts, we can start making them. Of course it has to be put into the schedule and that can take weeks. It takes about two weeks of molding to have sufficient parts to ship to the east coast. A week or so after that and we can release them. A week or so after that and they hit the retailers.

By far, the most important part of any shot is what is happening in the last split second as the disc is pulling itself from your grip. Focus there. It's the key.
