Default Re: APX vs Magnet/Challenger

I know a lot of big fans of the APX. It is probably the straightest flying putter out there. I never liked it because it has a high profile like a domey Aviar, but the way it flies through the air makes me wish it felt good in my hand. You have to beat the soul out of a Challenger to get it to hold lines like the APX.

The Magnet is like an overstable version of the APX. It has a high profile as well. It has really good carry and glide and it gets good lift for a putter. I putted with soft magnets with quite a bit of success, but I now putt with the Challenger because I did not like the high profile and I could not get a clean release when I had to throw it more than a putt.

The Challenger is flat, wind resistant, and too overstable to putt with outside of 30' when new. It drives like a dream--good speed, holds lines perfectly, and doesn't get too "floaty".
