PDGA Droid App
 

We have been told that an app is coming for droid users for over 18 months now. PDGA, please use this thread to give us legitimate updates. What is the new ETA?

Also, just FYI: as of September, 2012 - out of all people who own smartphones, over half own Androids (iphones barely 33%)

So how about making something that most of the world can use rather than an elite segment?

Don't worry. The elites among us have no problem sharing. Take a look at the official iPhone PDGA App thread for more info, even on the Android version.

Don't tell anyone we lowered ourselves to include that info in the thread about our elite app.

We have an elitest reputation to uphold.

As I understand it, Android has several incompatible flavors under the Android name. So while it would seem like a slam dunk to do the Android app first due to its higher installed base than Apple devices, the technical problems are widespread due to multiple interface issues with the different Android hardware and software versions out there. As one of the Android beta testers, they are still working to get some of the basic functionality of the PDGA iPhone app like rotating the screen horizontally to work on the different Droid units.

just wondering what "info" youre talking about. the only relevant info is: when will it be available?

or do you think that folks advertising their own disc golf related apps for droid is what im interested in?

Haven't done any testing of new Droid updates in a while and I'm not aware of any timetable. But I believe it may be contingent on revisions to the PDGA website where presumably we'll see some more new things next year.

The Android version of the PDGA Disc Golf App is still happening. We've got a lot of competing priorities and a limited amount of resources. The good news is that some of those resources will be freeing up here in the very near future, so the team will be able to get back to work soon to put the finishing touches on it.
