Happy Independence Day to everyone here in the U.S., and happy Canada Day to y'all north of the border (sorry, I'm 3 days late on that)
The R pool (Advanced Grandmasters) is full. Those of you that are currently on the waiting list, good luck. Someone should have been in touch with you by now to see if you will play Advanced Masters if you don't make it into Adv. GM from the waiting list. We're not going to put anyone else on the waiting list for Pool R...the list is like 10 players deep, and there's no way 10 Adv. GM players are dropping out before the event.
The G pool (Pro Grandamasters and Pro Senior Grandmasters) is also full. There is a waiting list starting for that, and it's only a few players deep.
The juniors pool (J Pool) is about 9 players away from filling.
We have procured a transportation package for juniors, and also provided some other activites for them. Juniors can be picked up at the Westin Crown Center in the mornings, and taken to their courses by bus. The cost for this is $50 for the week...a pretty good bargain. Also, we are going to toss in a trip to Power Play (http://www.powerplaykc.com/) on Wednesday, and Oceans of Fun (http://www.worldsoffun.com/public/inside_park/oof/) on Thursday. This is a pretty good deal to get the kids to the courses, and also throw in a couple of fun activities during the week. Please contact me at john@discgolfworld.com or 816-547-6148 for more information. We'd like to get as many pre-registered for this as possible, but you may sign up for this at check-in if you wish. Transportation for the juniors will be for Tuesday-Friday only, we'll not be providing transportation for the Field Events, Doubles, or for the semifinals/finals on Saturday.
Current registration for the tournament is at 246 pros and 541 ams, or 787 total players. This puts us only 38 ams of the record participation for an Am Worlds (579), and only 124 players from the overall Worlds record (911), both set by Des Moines in 2004. The pro Worlds record is 408, set in Michigan in 2000 (they had 821 overall). Thanks to all of you who have registered. We hope you have a fun time.
Hope to see you in a few weeks.
