In my travels, I regularly drop through towns and take a look at their park(s). I've got 'templates' for many of the towns around Lubbock (about 200 mile radius). Such was the case for Lovington. I usually am on very limited time, so I'll drive through, maybe park and eat my burger, take a few pictures. Well, I was 'touring' the park and I see baskets in the ground. Nothing is posted at PDGA.com or DGcoursereview.com. I finish the burger and rush to my next meeting. But, Lovington is only 20 miles from Hobbs (where I was staying), so I went up an played the course. Well, attempted to play the course as most of the holes were unplayable due to walkers and fisherment. I roamed around trying to find the course start point and tees. First, there was no course sign to find where to start. There were no visible tee areas. They were marked by small strips in the dirt/grass (most were at least partially covered). I finally did figure out the course (I think). Hole 1 is over a memorial (blind areas) and a heavily used bball court comes into play. 2 is right down a heavily used walk area with the basket about 5' from the walkway. 3 parallels 2 straight back (no tree seperation) with a bench just prior to the basket. 4 parallels 3 straight back but this time running along another walkway. 5 has a bench and walkway to the basket. 6 only has a walkway in the way. 7 tee is from right next to a bench, down a walkway, or hyzer over the water to a landing area where there were fishermen. The 7 basket is just past a walkway and near the water. I'm not sure of 8. The tee marker (covered) was angled away from the marked 8 basket. There was a fishing bridge with many people directly between the tee and basket. 9 throws under a tree a basket with a picnic building in between. I asked walkers if they new the course...'no'. Or if they have seen anyone throw...'yes, they almost hit me'. Aaaaaarrgh! #$%@! But very nice baskets (installed poorly though).
