Greg Brooks (Big Spring) helped design a nine hole course to be installed in Coloardo City. Installation is to be sometime in late April or early May 2009.

Wow. I had the chance to play the brand new course earlier this week. Ruddick Park looks like a combination of Big Spring's Comanche Park and Lubbock's Mackenzie Park. There is an amphitheater and a river / lake in the park. The nine hole course has concrete pads and baskets now installed. Signage, etc are soon to follow. This is a good one to play if you're ever on I-20 and passing by Colorado City.

Greg said that they will soon have a more formal kick-off of the course with ribbon cutting and 'first' throws soon. There will be a small tourney along with the kick-off.

C-City is to have a 'ribbon cutting' and 'first throw' event on June 14th if anyone is interested. I'm sure that there will be discs throw and rounds played. If you want to sell some discs or help players learn the game, contact Greg or C-City Parks and Rec.

There is to be a tourney on Nov 1....THE MARGE. Marge Koleman was the great go-getter who pushed for DG in C-City. Registration is 8-9, two rounds of 18 (9 of which will be portables). Contact Greg for more details (or me, have a flyer).

Great fun...weather, course, friends...yeah! The first tourney went well. Everyone had the pleasure to meet Marge. She said a few words after the event. Likely, the area will be getting more disc golf due to her efforts.

Greg gave much stuff away. I can't remember much after one day....but I know that Vicente won $100 (no aces hit)...someone else took the other $65 of the ace money. Joey won the Skillshot basket by sinking his put early in a CTB contest...everyone else had to 'run at it'. There were rec and pro CTB's for both rounds. I know that Joey took one of those also.

Tourney misc: Chris Brooks won in a playoff over Santos for the pro win. I came from behind and took the pro master win by a stroke. Alan (Abilene) won in a three way playoff for the advanced win. And that's about all I recall for results. There were two girls and a couple of jr's.

Look for more good things to come for Colorado City Disc Golf. Any locals out there?
