Check in here for news and updates on Kinston club Monthlies.
If you're uncertain about an event's status due to weather, you can email us kdga@kinstondiscgolf.com, but our policy is to be at Barnet Park, rain or shine, to make the decision whether to play, at the scheduled time.

Our next monthly is February 1, 2009. Don't miss it.

For a complete schedule of events remaining, and results for events, please visit our web site, www.kinstondiscgolf.com/monthlies.html (http://www.kinstondiscgolf.com/monthlies.html)

The monthly events earn you points for the year. The series starts in October and ends in September each year. Events are held on the first weekend of each month and alternate between Saturdays and Sundays. Come out an play!

This year we decided to alternate between Saturdays and Sundays so everyone will have a chance to play. Some can play Saturday, but not Sunday, and vice versa. Some can play all, and that puts Saturday-only and Sunday-only players at a disadvantage for points. So, to make it more complicated, we're going to keep calculating the points as we have been, and we're going to add a "Saturday Points" series, and a "Sunday Points" series separate from the "both days" series. That's right! Three points series in one! So even if you can't make all the monthlies, you can still be competitive in the ones you can make. If you have questions, post 'em or email me.

We will be playing our July Monthly on July 4th. So if you can't make the Zebulon PDGA event, you can still get a little disc golf in this weekend. Come out and have some fun. Sign-in by 9:45am, tee time at 10:00am.

Also, there will be a "Sand in the Streets" concert starting at 6:00pm at Neuseway Park in downtown Kinston. It's a free event, and will include fireworks. You can get the details at DownTownKinston.com (http://www.downtownkinston.com/sand.html). This event isn't connected to our monthly, but we thought you might like to know about it.

Whatever you choose to do, have a fun and safe July 4th!

On behalf of the LDGA that attended the Kinston monthly at Barnet Park, I want to say thank you for a wonderful event. I love to travel to different area monthlies to see how different clubs and leagues provide the community an opportunity to compete. I have to say that the KDGA provides an excellent event and the course is a great course, although it did whip me pretty well in the second round.

I would like to take a moment to do some "selfless" promotion. On July 25th, the LDGA will be holding our July monthly with a nice twist. We will have a CTP contest on all 18 holes that will last for both rounds. Various prizes, gift certificates, and everyone's favorite, Cash have been donated specifically for this event. As always, we will have the "Green CTP", which is an optional Community CTP as part of our monthly. I know that the New Bern PDGA is this same weekend, but if you aren't playing there, consider making the drive.

We have another event that is upcoming. On August 29th, we will be hosting the 3rd Annual Ace Race sponsored by Discraft. We hold a very competitive event that rewards consistent accuracy. Each hole is shortened considerably and there are plenty of "Ace runs" for all. Each player will be throwing a prototype disc mold that is provided as part of the player's package. With the addition of more sponsorships, we will be able to pay out to the top three finishes.

I want to encourage you to help us get the word out about our events, club, website, forum, and especially, our course. We are beginning to build a reputation around NC, and we look forward to seeing more of the KDGA (US 70 to I 95 gets you here) .Thanks again for your hospitality and a great event.

just wanted to thank everyone from the Kinston club. What a course you have to play and the people I met at the July 4th event were super friendly. For a lack of better words, I completely enjoyed the event. The course layout is fantastic. It was fun, challenging and is what I think Disc golf should be about, good times. Everyone we met was very nice and very helpful. Just made the experience that much more fun. Its a little bit of a drive from us but well worth it!

Thanks to everyone who came out for the July monthly. We had a large group visiting from the Lumberton Club. Thanks for joining us. It was a lot of fun meeting new players. And thanks to everyone who came from Greenville, Pittsboro and anywhere else I forgot to mention ;)

By all means, consider Lumberton's July monthly if you're not playing the Neuse River Rumble, and their August monthly.

The weather was milder than it might have been, but I think it still gave everyone a good work out. The scores were pretty close. Congratulations to Zach Allen, Robert Borjes and Jon Upchurch! You can see the full results and updated points for the season on kinstondiscgolf.com (http://www.kinstondiscgolf.com/monthlies.html).

Don't miss the monthly tomorrow! It's the first of the new points season. Should be fun, and we're awarding trophies and stuff to last years' winners. So, if you're not playing anywhere else, come on out to Barnet Park. Sign-in should start around 9:30am.

The results for the October 2009 Monthly are on the kinstondiscgolf.com site.

It was a small field, but lots of fun. Joey Hughes won both CTPs and aced hole #14. Kurt Hodnett played Open for the first time and threw a smokin' 50 from the longs.

We also had awards for the 2008-2009 Points Series winners. Congrats to all who participated.

Don't forget the NC SuperClassic on Oct. 11, 2009. Also, the New Bern course is the site for Compete for Concrete - a fundraiser to pay for some concrete tee pads in Glenburnie Park. Two events, one weekend = lots of great disc golf.
