2008 Louisiana State Championships
October 18-19, 2008
Lake Bistineau State Park DGC
Doyline (Shreveport), LA

I know some of you guys have already played Lake Bistineau, so you know how fun and pretty of a course it is...but the rest of you seriously need to check this place out. Lakeside holes, tons of giant trees with Spanish moss haning off the branches, technical shots out the wazoo, a few open bombers...good stuff!

This event was originally going to be held at Bistineau one day and Ford Park (actually in Shreveport city limits) the other day...but since the parks are a good 45mins apart, the Shreveport DG Club is actually going to install another 18-hole course in another area of the park! I don't know if it will become a permanent course right away (I imagine not, considering the time it takes to install a course), but it's sure to be a blast!

There are many cabins for rent at the park, a few of which are actually on the course. We have a handful of players from here in Texarkana going and it'd be great to see some Dallas peeps in the crowd!

I don't have any info on pre-registration, prices, etc just yet, but I'll keep this post updated as I get that info. I'm just trying to get the word out early in hopes that we'll get a great turnout.

Still would love to play it Rusty and will someday, but I think that is the same weekend as the Jeremy Martin Memorial :(

Do you have any course shots anywhere? I have some great pics of that type of tree and can't imagine a disc getting stuck in that hanging stuff

D is in second after two rounds, only trailing by two strokes. I'm not playing stellar golf, but I should make the cut :)

I've got some updates on the event!

1) This will be a PDGA B-Tier!!!

2) The new temporary course in Area 2 of the park will be (according to TD, Kevin Pelton) very similar to Ford Park in Shreveport...lots of tall pines without much underbrush to contend with. Should be a nice contrast to the current course in Area 1.

3) There will be 2 different Pools:
Pool A - Open, Master, Grand Master, Women, Adv Men, Adv Master
Pool B - Sr. Grand Master, Am Men, Am Women, Am Master, Junior, Novice

Pool A will play 2 rounds at the current course and 1 at the Temp Course.

Pool B will play 2 rounds at the Temp Course and 1 at the current course.

4) Entry fees:
Open $65
Master $55
Grand Master $45
Women $40
Sr. Grandmaster $40
Advanced Men $40
Advanced Masters $35
Am Men $30
Am Women $25
Am Masters $25 (no pdga points)
Juniors $20
Novice $15

I'm still trying to find out about pre-registration...I'll see if I can get you some business on this one Josh ;)

Murphy, I've got some pics on my cell phone, but they aren't clear enough to get a good idea of what the course actually looks like. For me, the terrain surrounding the course is as big of an attraction as the course itself. I went out yesterday, and I'll be taking a group out there this Saturday...I'll see if anyone has a real digital camera so I can take some pics.

That Spanish moss doesn't catch discs too often, but it stops them dead in their tracks ;)
