come to Pittsburgh. We have par 66 courses rated at 1000 for the gold tees, and 950 for the blue tees.

wait for 2-3 weeks and see if the under par stays the same
they always inflate the pars at least that is what it seems like to me like calling a 400 ft hole a par 4 ar 5

All dependent on how you define "par" and how you apply this definition to particular holes.
Take the same course, call the par-4s par-3s, or the par-3s par-2s, and suddently disc golf is not so easy. Of course, it's still exactly the same game, exactly the same difficulty.

Our term of a green is too small.....putting circles should not be considered greens.....

In my view par is what it takes a 1000+ rated Open Player to reach within ~100 feet, plus 2.

My view of par is the median score in the open division.
No one wants to call a short hole a par-2.....but if most of the field is getting a 2 on it, and your 3 feels like a bogey, you're thinking of it as a par-2.
All of which is unimportant, as "par" is just a mental exercise (except for the late-arriving player).

For a "sponsored" player, you sure seem to rarely ever have anything positive to say about the sport.
IMO "Par" needs to be removed from the disc golfers vocabulary, if the only reason it's used is for penalty purposes then simply make the penalty for missing a hole at a 10. So many arguments/discussion based on this concept yet it doesnt matter at all in terms of finding out who the winner of a tournament is, it's still and always will be whoever takes the fewest amount of throws to complete a course and/or tournament who gets to call themselves the winner.

I'm not sponsored by anyone.
And I have many blog entries that are very positive such as the 10 greatest shots I've ever seen and execution before the shot.

Maybe we need par 2 holes. Chuck might argue that we already HAVE par 2 holes. :D

Par 2's, how many does your course have?
Rhetorical question directed at all of us.

We have 9 par 2's on our 9 hole course. :D:D

I'd also argue that we have par-2 holes. We call them "birdie holes", but if most players are getting a 2 on a hole, and you expect to get one and feel you're losing ground if you don't, then it's essentially a par-2.

we dont have par2s. we do have a bunch of crappy (aka executive) par 3s. just like ball golf :)

Lafreniere Park, New Orleans, Louisiana
On our PRESENT 24 hole layout,
at least 4 no-brainer 2's.
Putter reachable, get those 2's or loose ground to everyone.
Look out for those 40-50 mph wind gusts. :p

as Sandalbagger so duely noted above... come to Pittsburgh and play Moraine or Deer Lakes. between both courses, and this even depends on pin locations, there may be, MAY BE, 3 total "2" holes. heck, even Knob, which is par 57ish depending on layout, doesnt have "2" holes.
we are spoiled and us yinzers wouldnt want it any other way.

I don't play ball golf, but....are there holes where 80% or 90% of players in a competion get a "2"?
Par is almost meaningless, unless you're late for a round, but I find it odd that disc golfers start with a baseline of calling everything a "par 3", then adjust to call particularly difficult holes "par 4" or "par 5", but not to call particularly easy holes "par 2". So a course with 6 par-4s is "par 60", regardless of its 6 2-almost-every-time holes.

As I've stated many times, the importance of getting par correct comes down to the fact that we penalize players based on par.

Obvious solution!!!!
If you miss a hole...you're done. Get there on time, or get the TD to delay start time for you.

Get there on time, or get the TD to delay start time for you.
Thats actually the WORST solution b/c that makes that player more important than the 80+ people who got it right.
