OK, here we go. Go ahead and scratch in the weekend of the 8th and 9th of November because you are definitely going to want to be in Yadkin County. As a lot of you know here in Yadkin County we are very fortunate to be home to four great courses - Yadkin County Park where all previous YO's have been held; Borrowed Time, John Glenn's new 18 hole course; The Cranberry Disco, Mike Stack's 18 hole swinging course; and Ramcat Ridge, my 18 hole walk in the woods. All of these courses have their own unique feel and style, and they are all way fun places to spend a day with discs.
I'll attach a flyer which covers pretty much all details, although I'm sure there will be questions. There will be two pools.
I'll cover Pool B first - Pool B is Pro's and Advanced only with Ben Porter as TD, Saturday rounds are Yadkin County Park (YCP) morning and Ramcat Ridge afternoon, Sunday Pool B is YCP all day.
Pool A - is all other Am divisions, Rec, Intmd, Adv Masters and older. Pool A is a one day two round tournie, Todd Gillihan TD, with Saturday morning being at the Cranberry Disco and Saturday afternoon at YCP. On Sunday Pool A can enjoy the friendly confines of Borrowed Time for non-sanctioned play. You're gonna like Borrowed Time!!!! Very cool course and proprietor.
Questions anyone?

Just a week to go for the 2008 rendition of the Greater Yadkin Open. Things are a little different this fall giving you a taste of all four Yadkin County courses, dependent on the division you are playing. Refer to first post on this thread for details. Briefly though Advanced and Pro Yadkin County Park (YCP) Saturday morning and Ramcat Saturday afternoon. Sunday is YCP all day for Pro and Advanced. All other divisions start at Cranberry Disco Saturday a.m. and YCP Saturday p.m. Borrowed Time open for non-sanctioned play all day Sunday.
All the courses are in great fall shape, beautiful colors, super conditions. Ramcat will be a little bit of a change for most everyone with the clear cutting on the neighboring property moving to the margins of some holes. The cutting will not adversely affect the course. In fact, it may well improve it. I have already moved the #3 pin making the hole about 50 feet longer. The green will not be AS fast as it was, but all in all I think it's a better hole. According to time constraints this week, I may well be able to move #7's pin position also.
Cranberry Disco for all the non-Adv and non Pro divisions is in super shape. If you haven't played the Disco, this course alone is worth the price of admission. You're going to like.:cool:
And Borrowed Time for the non-sanctioned rounds Sunday, like the rest of the Yadkin County private course, every fairway is real, every fairway is fair, but ya gotta hit em. While it is less physically demanding than either Ramcat or the Disco it will require every shot in your bag to get through clean and unbloodied.:cool::cool:

Moved the pins on #3 and #7 Ramcat this week. Both are now longer with number three being a similar shot and #7 now a longer S rather than an anny. Colors close to peak. Come see us.

This one slipped under my personal radar and I don't see where a change was made on the flyer but TD Ben Portersworth confirms that for the Pro/Adv pool there has been some course itinerary tweaking - Saturday YCP a.m. and Ramcat p.m.; Sunday YCP a.m. and CRANBERRY DISCO Sunday p.m. with the awards ceremony also being at the Disco. You are going to love the Disco. Courses are in great shape and with colors near peak........ man it just don't get any better.

Sounds like a lot FUN for everyone, as usual in Yadkin Co.. I've paid, yet I hope I can play! I torn the cartilage in my chest near my sternum a little over two weeks ago now and it's still not feeling good. Four rounds may force me on the sidelines to volunteer. One way or another, I'm looking forward to it! It doesn't get any better than Yadkinville Disc Golf!!!

Sorry to hear about the chest/rib issue. Why, back in nineteen and seventy three I popped a cartelage clean out of my chest from my ninth rib while paddling a Class VII rapid in Madagascar. Never missed a day on the water. But that was me. :D:D:D Seriously hope you can make a go of it. If not you know spotters will be needed at de'Cat and de Disco. Looking forward to it compadre.

I know there are several from Greensboro that are going to make it out there this weekend, that are not listed above.
I will be taking pre reg from the Lake Reidsville Open this weekend, but not in Durham, as I will be getting some work done in Reidsville the weekend of the 15th.
Look forward to seeing everyone and my first trip to the Disco!

:D And that's why I have an autographed Ramcat disc from you hanging on my wall!! :D That would be like paddling Hole 4 at Ramcat without a paddle. Absolute insanity!
You betcha spotters are going to be needed! Leafage is thick these shorter days. Keep an eye on it.

Sorry for any inconvenience caused by not being able to reg through pdga. That system is supposed to be down until sometime next week. Ben and Todd say no penalty for morning of registration though and with the format morning of should be zero problem. Come see us.

Not sure who all made the informal workday at the park yesterday, but rumor has it that a new teepad has been built for the new "soccer friendly" pin position on #10. Course was detrashed and is in great shape for Saturday morning.
I spent the afternoon with a backpack leaf blower on Ramcat blowing all major trails and teepads so it'll be a little less treacherous Saturday afternoon. Sounds like any precip will be ending during the night or very early tomorrow morning leaving us with a beautiful weekend.
Sunday will be killer as well with the final round being at Cranberry Disco. Gorgeous course, gorgeous time of year.... what more could you ask for. See you there.

Fun time in Yadkin County this weekend. Don't remember all the nitty gritty details, but suffice to say the old man brung it this weekend, Alan Beaver took Pro on the strength of a new record round at Cranberry Disco this afternoon. Oh, and his trademark steady, steady, steady play. Thanks for coming everybody. We enjoyed it.
Now don't forget about next spring's Yadkin County Tour playing all four courses in the county with all divisions. :D

Good shootin Alan! Congratulations to all the winners and survivors! BIG UPS to the Yadkinville Disc Golf Club for hosting another Fabulous Fall Open on three super cool courses, Yadkin Co Park, Jamie Arnold's Ramcat Ridge, and Mike Stacks Cranberry Disco! Nobody said they were easy, yet I think everyone can agree that they are FUN! Looking forward to seeing those ratings. Again, it's hard to beat what Yadkinville has to offer! Not just good courses, but good food and good people. The tournament ran very smooth, special thanks to Ben Porter and Todd Gillian for their dedication and leadership!
You know I'll be back for another one, but this time I hope to be able to play. Is the Spring tourney set in stone yet, what are the dates? Time to start thinking about and making plans for 09' Yadkinville is a must play!

Thanks for the kind words Todd and thanks for the spotting help Saturday. No date for spring yet. It's usually first of the year-ish before the dates are choosable/lockable. You can bet it'll be a big time though.

I have to say that those private courses, mixed with one of my favorite public courses were a great time.
Going have to play out there more often. I heard Borrowed Time is a gem as well, but I have not seen it since it was 12 holes.
Thanks guys.

Ramcat Ridge and Cranberry Disco are two of the most scenic courses I've ever played. Thanks to Riverdog and Stack for letting us play their courses. I had a great time and can't wait until next year.
