Wow, the 12th Carrollton Open
Well it is getting that time so I though I would start up the buzz (not that kind of buzz) on the tournament.
As many of you know, Jimmy Porter has been pulled and will NOT be available for this years tournament.
so we will have an classic A/B course set up at Greenbelt. Yes, 36 holes all at Greenbelt, won't that be fun :D
A majority of the holes should be in the ground by tournament time, but we will be using a few temp holes. (we got permission to install the Jimmy Porter back 9 in the old Greenbelt A course location)
HQ will be at the Pavilion between the course parking lot and the School.
parking will be at the course parking lot and we should be able to park at the school (I will be checking on that, but it should not be a problem)
If you noticed, this years Carrollton Open is going to be brought to you by Titledisc.com. We are going to be co-TD's (Josh and I)
Due to things going on at my store, I may not be able to be at the course the full time, so Josh is going to be my back up. He knows how I want the tournament run so this way I can insure to keep the standard the Carrollton Open is known for.
But have no fear, I will be there to kick things off.
either way, Josh is going to be helping me drum up sponsorship for one of the BIGGEST tournaments in Texas.
check this out, we have $2500 and we have not even started contacting past sponsors.
So I will guarantee this right now
$1000+ for first place Open Pro men
$1000 Guaranteed Ace Pot (more if we get the sponsorship like last year's $1500)
The payout will be based on the PDGA numbers However, as most of you already know, sponsorships pay for your players package. On top of that, the Carrollton Open has ALWAYS payed out 100% plus to the winners. Because Josh stepped up, we will be able to do that again this year.
Also, as usual, all disc sales go back into the tournament.
Now what I want from you........................
SPONSORSHIP'S
I need over $2,000 in merchandise for the CTP round. All of you that play know I give away a CTP per card in the final round worth OVER $50. This last year we even had one that was $100 cash and 4 more that were $50 cash each. But to do this, I need your NEW unused discs. The Adv Masters division and Wichita Falls crew have AWAYS been great sponsoring these.
One last thing, The Carrollton Open has never turned anyone away. Last year we had 218 players. This year we will only be using 36 holes, so if the turnout hits that 200 player mark, we will go to 3 flights like the old Carrollton Charity Cup Classic. (now that is really old school) The CCCC use to be the biggest tournament in the country back in the day. (hey, if we get over 270 players we can go to 4 flights :D)
Well I am leaving to go see my mom in 6 hours. I will be doing some work from Tn in getting dues and getting the info to Josh so he can get us started on Titledisc.
BTW, The Carrollton Open was one of the first tournaments ever listed on Titledisc, back then we would set new entry records each year. (it was between me and HFDS)
More later from Tennessee.

bump!
as Bryan said, titleDISC is going to be heavily involved in this year's Carrollton Open! We will have sponsorship information and entry fees ready to go on titleDISC.com and carrolltonopen.com very soon. If you would like to sponsor this event, please let me know and we'll get you put down for one of the many sponsor packs available.
This is going to be a bigger event than Rockwall was, but I will do everything I can to make it just as much fun (and hopefully not as hot) :). I will also make sure that this year's Carrollton Open follows the traditions that Bryan has laid out. Even without Jimmy Porter Park, the Carrollton Open lives on!

Waterloo Disc Golf Club is always happy to sponsor Mr. Jim's. We'll be sending $100 worth of merch up for you to use as CTPs or however else you want.
Bryan always works his butt off and throws a wonderful tournament. Thanks Josh & Titledisc.com for helping to make this event even better.

Jul 08 2008, 11:14 AM
I have noticed Waterloo on the sponsor list every year that I have played the Carrollton Open :). Thanks for sticking with us!
The past few years, I have handled the carrolltonopen.com website. Of course I'll be doing that again this year, and as usual all sponsors of all types will be featured on the sponsor page. That page typically sees more hits than any of the others, so you know that people are visiting and bringing traffic and business to the links provided there. Any disc golf related business, local shop or restaurant, or online retailer can benefit greatly from this type of exposure. The teesigns and t-shirt opportunities are even better. Get on board today!

Sorry I have no posted in a while, I usually spend my short periods of free time between orders reading emails and keeping up with YouTube video's. [actually I run them while doing paperwork most of the time]
Well it is time to get this thing rolling, I have talked with Kevin ''Pinnapple'' and he is working with the city to let us install the Jimmy Porter baskets at Greenbelt. I just need to write a letter telling him about how we bring 200 people from out of town in for practice and the tournament. It looks like as long as we put the in ourselves and pull them, they will not have a problem with it. Kevin and the guys he plays with are scouting out holes using the greenbelt across Frankford.

Very cool, I just got off the phone with Steve Wind.
He said he would be happy to do our tournament logo again this year.
He lives in CO now, but is even going to be a T-shirt sponsor again this year. However it looks like he might not make it down to play this year, he might be closing on a house.

You can count on the ADGA for a CTP sponsorship.
If you can get that too me that would be great. Beggars can't be choosy and I take anything and everything I can get.
Sometimes people don't realize how much little things add up when you get a lot of them.
Just $25 bucks gets you a T-sign sponsorship. You can put what ever you want on it (It would need to be something that would not get you banned on the PDGA web site)
Rag on your friends. Tell them Good luck. Congratulate someone. I have even had memorial Tee-signs. There will be at least one of them this year.
and on that note, as I have done the past 2 years, I will be including a past sponsor of the Carrollton Open to the back of this years T-Shirt.
In Memory of Eric B. Hill.
Proof that you can become friends with a one time enemy.

Ok, just sent in the santioning agreement and PDGA fees.
I am reading the new requirements right now and will post more on changes I am being force to make later. :D
One I see right off he bat, 77 players are effected from last year, if you are NOT a current PDGA member, you wind up paying an extra 10 bucks. This is hidden as a PDGA Membership discount.
That, and is there another division
well more later after I read up on my requirements.

Jul 23 2008, 10:43 PM
Your the TD and you can choose to use whatever divisions you want.

Jul 23 2008, 10:55 PM
I don't see any reason not to offer all divisions.
I will have some sort of trophy for all 1st place winners for divisions with a registered player by August 31st.
This goes to divisions such as
Adv Grandmaster Men
All womens divisions
Any Jr. Division
all players will be playing 72 holes.
I have a few questions I sent in to the PDGA. I will set entry fees and get it up on Titledisc as soon as possible. [along with Josh updating the web site :D]
For those that have asked. Some of the extra baskets may be going into the ground VERY soon. I will know more tomorrow.
If you shoot me an email, I will call you to show up and help out. Input will be taken for those that show up to work. [ie, digging holes for baskets] This comes from Pineapple, whom I have assigned the task to. I have no input on this, it is all his call. He will have requirements by the City on where he can and can't put holes. He has to take into consideration the homes that back up to the park, the sidewalks and the playground. I trust his judgment.

Got a call from Kevin today, we have been approved to install basket across Frankford this week. Kevin wants to get those hole marked this week and try to install them this weekend.
He also said we have been approved to install hole on the other side of Josey for the tournament. But as of right now we can't put those in till closer to the tournament.
So we should have the A course consisting of holes 3 - 10 plus 10 holes across Frankford. The B course would be hole 1,2 then 11 to 18 plus A,B,C and 5 hole across Josey.
But this may change

yes, but there isn't a bridge to get under the road...I think Duke was going to get a hold of Kevin about that
Just thinking about 200+ people crossing Josey, but I guess we have survived crossing the road at Porter so far :)
baldguy
Jul 29 2008, 11:09 PM
Maybe we could do a full 18 across Josey and eliminate the need to do the ones across frankford? I think we could fit 40+ holes across josey if we had enough time. At least then there wouldn't be any crossing over josey during the round... up to you though. We may need to hire a crossing guard :)
registration will be up on TitleDISC tonight and I'll try to get carrolltonopen.com updated as well. I wonder how fast we can get to 100... 150... 200.... :D

We can talk about this forever, fact is, we are going to use what ever holes we can get in. Kevin is in charge of getting me 36 usable holes. We don't have time or the resources to do much. Anyways, this is temporary for just this year.
for at least 2 or 3 years, there were 4 holes on the other side of Josey. Back then, we would set up a Temp course for the Old Greenbelt until Tim W. redesigned the course to not cross any streets.
Besides, we are all adults, I think we can cross a busy street without the Boy Scouts help.
Mini's are ordered.
I have also sent emails to Discraft and Innova to get those orders rolling.

Why was Porter pulled?
baldguy
Jul 31 2008, 09:28 AM
Creek construction. They're re-doing the whole thing like they did the part on holes 1-6, 17-18. The course will probably have to be mostly redesigned once the construction is finished.

the PDGA has to receive the sanctioning form first, then they have to process it. New events usually get posted on Mondays and Tuesdays, so it may be that they just haven't had a chance to publish it yet. we're still a ways out but hopefully it will get done soon.
FWIW - it is listed on titleDISC.com and on LSDGA.com (the end-all-be-all schedule for TX disc golf tournaments).

Ok people, it is time to start pushing the Carrollton Open at all the tournaments you go to. Most of you in Texas (and OK for that matter) have played the Carrollton Open, I have always depended on word of mouth and it has shown.
Because I am currently working 90 hours per week, I am unable to get to tournaments to spread the word.
Just remember CarrolltonOpen.com They can get any and all information from there.

Situation:
Steve Wind, who has done the Carrollton Open Hot stamps for the last 5 years, is on Vacation. Unfortunately, when he gets home it will be late for getting the disc orders in for hot stamped discs.
So, here is what I propose, I can either update one of the old stamps (I personally like the Pizza Maze) or I can open it up to anyone who would like to see there artwork on a disc.
I need this ASAP, it takes 3 to 4 weeks to make the Die for the Hotstamp, if I wait till Steve gets back from Vacation, it may be to late to get the discs in (remember what happened 2 years ago)
Either post a pic here, or email it to me.
I have not talked to the T-shirt people yet, I will either go though the person I have for the last several years or one of my sponsors is wanting to work something out on shirts. More on that later (after I talk with her)

Well, we lost 7 holes on the other side of Josey. There were 2 people who really objected to the beer drinking and cussing that goes on with a few disc golfers.
Kevin will be marking new holes and the city is going to dig the holes this time.
We will have baskets in the A,B,C holes plus 2 hole similar to some of the old holes between current holes 5 and 6 and 2 more holes on the other side of Frankford.
We will have two 18 hole courses, just not exactly what we really wanted.
Too bad the action of a few effect the many.
T-shirts are being worked on right now. The design is done, we are just working on the sponsors.
If you want to be included on the back of the t-shirt, call me now 214-674-9516.........

According to Kevin, the 2 people that created a big stink may have been on the park board. At any rate, they were two people who have some pull with the City Council.

Ok, I am going to make this in a poll format, I want some input on this to see if we can work this out.
Which course would you rather play for Doubles on Friday,
A) the 18 hole backwards course
B) the regular 21 holes we always play.
A pluses
New course that adds some good doubles holes
A) Negitives
Will be playing backwards with casual players playing forwards.
Most players will not know the layout
Will have to mark the holes.
B) don't have to make up new scorecards
Most players know the layout
Negitives
Same old same old.

BTW, if we pick the backwards layout, not only do I need someone to draw a map for me to copy, but I will need someone to mark the holes for the players. I can print up T-signs just for Doubles if needed.

Sep 05 2008, 11:26 AM
I can do the map, and I know that he backwards holes are marked with concrete markers in the ground. I also think that we can make sure that casual play is suspended from 3:00pm till dark on Friday so that there isn't a conflict on those 18 holes. Oh, and the backwards course could make good use of the C hole pin, if it was installed... so it could be 20 holes :).
I think the cons would be that people sometimes use doubles as a chance to warm up for the tournament and they'd be playing a different format. At least the holes across Frankford would be available for warmup play though so maybe this isn't as big of a deal.
My vote is for backwards - I think people should see the awesome course that is hiding right there in plain sight. It's no longer just a RHBH hyzer birdie course. There are a few good par 4 holes and one par 5 from the longs, and the shorts make you play well for 2s.
i'll also go out on a limb and say that there are people willing to help make the backwards layout work for doubles. I'll be out of town until doubles starts, but I know of some dedicated folks who play Carrollton 100 times per year or so. I can make some calls and I bet we get plenty of help marking the course. In fact, these people have probably already read this message :)

Looks like Houston, San Antonio and Austin may be in the path. DFW could get some wind....and rain. I'll be there anyway. The only problem I see besides 50mph winds and torrential rain would be the muddy teepads.

We are always done before dark though.
This year we are only playing 18 hole courses. I expect the rounds to go a little faster.
_________________________________________________
Ok, I walked all the new holes today.
After playing Greenbelt #2 go towards the apartments, it is not marked today, but there is a bear spot where the tee is for the added hole. there is a mando to keep you from throwing into the pavillion where we will hopefully be set up on Saturday and Sunday.
After hole 5, walk towards 6 basket and there are flags for this hole. The backet is towards the walking path.
Then go to 6's tee box area to throw up to the side of the hill towards Frankford.
6's tee box will play from the sidewalk on Frankford.
After playing 6, you will cross over/under Frankford for the 12 added holes.
The first hole #6 tee's off after the bridge between the fence and the creek, it throws over the creek towards the playground.
#7 is back across the creek by the fence for a shorter hole on the same side of the creek. there is a small mando on this hole to keep you from throwing into the back yards.
#8 after playing 7, walk up the creek to a sewage manhole cover. This tees off across the walkway to a set of Willow Trees. (for those that remember the old Greenbelt, this is where #2's backet use to be.
#9 tees off up by the ally on top of the hill to the creek. It is a long wide open downhill shot with the creek behind the basket.
#10 tees off near the basketball court back towards the alley area. This is just a longer old hole #1.
#11, walk down the side walk around to the right. It tees off from the sidewalk towards the creek and a large tree. This is marked on the sidewalk.
#12 to the right of #11 towards the railroad tracks. it is marked with flags. you tee of crossing the creek towards the railroad bridge.
#13 great place to take a break, tee off near the picnic table (marked with flags) down the edge of the creek. You can't see the basket because of the high weeds of the creek.
#14 After 13, walk to the other side of the tennis courts by the parking lot. This hole crosses the creek like 4 times.
#15 Teeing off fromt he side walk (if I remember correctly) across the creek 2 times to the basket.
#16 From 15, walk down the street past the water fountain. The tee is from the sidewalk (marked) with a Mandatory to keep you from trowing over the street.
#17 Tees off down the hill towards the creek down though the mesquite trees.
Cross back under Frankford to
#18 is the Longer version of Greenbelt #7 we play every year.
That is the North Course. Much better than I expected. I actually like the fact that the creek is very overgrown.
The City was out today mowing in the rain. They actually got all the fairways done and did what they could as close to the creek. Just don't land near the creek and you will do just fine. Land near the creek and the lost disc rule will come into play.

On Saturday, I will set up at the pavilion between holes 2 and 3 on Greenbelt.

what ever you do, do not park in the grass in the park. You will get a ticket.
there is also parking at the school off Frankford and by the tennis courts on the North Course. (the old Greenbelt parking lot)
Do not park in the grass along the alley's. You may get a ticket from the Carrollton Police. (I warned you)

Pizza,
What's the format of the courses' holes to be used this weekend? In other words, what holes will be used with each round/course? Since the temp holes are in 5 different spots (1 hole between 2&3, 2 holes between 5&6, 12 holes between 6&7, 1 hole between 12&13, and 2 holes after 18). I'm trying to figure out how all that is going to be split up into two courses. I would having 5&6, the two between them, hole 7, and one other hole (either 4 or 8) all be the "temp" course. Is that what you had in mind? Are all the holes going to have a label (i.e. GB #1, GB #2, TEMP #1, TEMP #2) or something like that? We kept score for skins purposes when practicing and I got off a hole at some point.
Thx,
DH

I have managed to play most of the tournament holes in the past week or so. So I am pretty comfortable with the layout of both west and north courses. But I want to know more about the doubles play on Friday. I also got some more ?'s since I never played in a tournament anyways......
Scorecards, do we need to bring/find some. Or is that provided?
2008 Ace Race discs, are these allowed in tournament play? Not sure if this is a pdga approved disc yet.... I believe I noticed my Buzzzz disc also does not say pdga approved on it... I may have to use my old Stingrays....
On doubles, do both players tee off and then both play from the best landed disc?
Doubles layout, are we playing the 'normal backwards' 18 layout that was voted on? Are these tee areas marked yet (besides the rebar pucks in the ground, cant find all the tee's myself without a guide)?
If we are playing the 18 backwards for doubles, is anyone going to be playing at the course today around 530 (weather pending)? My doubles partner and I are planning on going to the course today. We sure would like to have a guide on the backwards 18 before Friday.

The creek is normally crossable between #8 and #4 tee pads.
If the creek floods, we will cut all the holes that flood and play around them.
something like play 3 then go over and play a version of the added hole, then 6 (if playable) same with 7,8,9. 10 and the rest are playable.
So maybe a longer course with no creek crossings. (except at the bridges)
I have not watched the forcast from tonight, but it is not suppose to rain till late Saturday afternoon.
That would mean I will try to start the first round at 9:30 if possible. (registration ends at 9am)
Then a 1 hour lunch and get that second round in.

I do have that $1000 ace pot to give away this weekend :D
It could be fun throwing off for that in the rain.
however, from what I have seen, the heavy part of the rain should hit us in the PM on Saturday.
I will start us as soon as possible on Saturday morning, and try to get two quick rounds in before the worst hits.
then Sunday morning, I may push off the first round later than usual because by noon, most everything is suppose to be moved out of the North Texas area.
Basicly, I feel much better about this weekend than I did for the last few days. maybe I will actually be able to sleep.
Of course it is going to be very windy Saturday Afternoon and Sunday Morning.
In all, we have a back up plan if the creek floods.
Mostly it depends on how many players show up.

To everyone who is going to come out and have some fun this weekend, PLEASE register Friday or VERY early on Saturday morning.
I really want to start the 1st round on Saturday ASAP to try to get both rounds in before the weather gets bad.
If we can have the players meeting at 9am and start the first round before it gets windy.
The afternoon round may be VERY windy. Like 50MPH gusts. (or regular Oklahoma wind)
BUT by the evening, the wind will die down.
Then we only have to deal with rain. Even then, they are only predicting 2 to 3 inches for the North Dallas area. (as of tonight)
Well it's late and I think I am going to try to get a little sleep.
I will be set up by 3pm for doubles. It is suppose to be a nice hot day tomorrow with very little wind.

From the minute we walked out of the players meeting pavilion and saw three umbrellas just completely fold up and another get blown out of a hand and just take off down the hill we all knew we were in for fun. Never have I dumped at least a cup of water out of each of my gore-tex socks. They are as good for not letting water out as they are from letting water in.

But check this out, they have the rain ending by 8am on Sunday.

My thoughts on the doubles course - it was interesting with some good mixes of lefty and righty holes. Some of the holes were different than the normal layout and proved a little tricky since half of our round was played in the dark. Some footage markings on the tee markings would have proved beneficial. I think alot of the holes could have been made a little harder. And the land could have been used a little more. All in all though it was a good course.
Looks like Ike came a little closer to Dallas than expected!

There is more than one layout for that course, including long and short tees. It's also getting tweaked. Maybe next year, if Porter is back in, we can have a backwards day and a forwards day. 4 courses in 2 parks in 2 days! That would be fun... maybe I'll get to play :)

Josh will post the scores and payouts when he gets home.
it was a tad windy today, however the weather was GREAT. The course was pretty much dried out by the time we started (except a few holes)
Because of the weak turnout (thanks goes out to the 113 brave souls who played) I rewarded them by letting them pick there own plastic. This is not something I will make a habit though.
I did add $1500 to the Open Pro Division (that is OVER $100 per player)
I added $20 per player to both the Masters and Grandmasters divisions also.
I also paid all the Amateur divisions at 120% as I normally do, except I let them pick there payout this year.
I need to thank both Titledisc and Jerry Power for offering to buy some of the left over plastic so I did not loose money this weekend. (I purchased $5000 in merchandise)
We nearly had a $1000 throw off till Troy hits #15 (after splashing out on a hole on Saturday)
In all things went pretty well. We really tried to get the 2nd round in as quick as possible on Sunday and did start the 2nd round 1 hour and 10 min after the last card came in.
Today the first round started on time, but we had some computer issues and stared the 4th round 10 min late.
We were still done with awards by 6pm.

Sep 14 2008, 11:51 PM
thunder stealer ;) :p
Another great Carrollton Open. What can I say... Bryan James is *bar none* the most generous TD in the sport. E-Mac said it at the awards ceremony and if my voice wasn't so jacked up from being sick I would have echoed his sentiments. $1500 added to the open pot is normal for a massive NT. For a B-tier in which only 13 Open players made it out (weather-related of course), this is HUGE. *Every* division got money added to it. I know because I filled out the payout sheet and was continually amazed at how much more each player got over and above the PDGA recommended payout. All of that plus the players packs, t-shirts, etc... wow. Someone needs to place a big pizza order with the South Carrollton Mr. Jims very soon :)
Two things I want to put out there before I hit the sack and try to get over this cold:
First: pre-registration is key. If you played on a 5-man card for round 1 or if you noticed the somewhat lopsided pools all weekend, this is because 20 or so people waited until the last possible time to sign up. Even if you don't want to use titledisc, please send in a check or show up for doubles the day before and take care of it then. The more work the TDs can get done before the morning of the event, the smoother everything can go.
Second: Thank your sponsors. This was a massive event, especially for 113 players. The biggest reason it could be so big is that Bryan goes out and finds sponsors to donate money. If we patronize those businesses and show them support, they see a return on their sponsoring (advertising) dollar and they will want to keep sponsoring events. This is how we grow the sport's influence.
Thanks again to everyone who came out! These tournaments thrive because of the things already mentioned but they would be completely impossible without players to play in them :). I heard a ton of positive talk around tournament HQ and out on the course. People came up and thanked me and the rest of the staff. This means more than I can explain. All the hours of work that we all put into making the event happen gets paid back tenfold when we know that everyone had a good time. We're privileged to have you guys as a player base and I hope to see each and every one of you at lots more events in the future.

advanced and pro were on separate courses the whole weekend. an 8-point difference isn't unheard of from one round to the next. wind conditions, dew on the ground, muddy teepads, etc. can all affect the difficulty of the course. Also, our ratings system is about as accurate as one can be, but it's not perfect. a 0.8% delta is pretty tolerable :)

It should be noted that Mr. Anderson was going to play and withdrew, not because of the weather, but because he freaking broke his hand/wrist right before the tournament.
________________________________________________
Josh is right, it seemed like all 113 players thanked us this weekend. It really does mean something to the TD when you do that. Always thank your TD.
__________________________________________
I want to say something about what Josh said. The Carrollton Open is like a Club event. A club raises money all year to hold there big tournament and give away all they can.
A TD who runs multiple events can not give away the store. That is a BIG difference. A professional TD gives you a chance to play courses that don't have local clubs who are willing to run events. Just because I give away everything I can, does not mean that Professional TD's should.
You should support your pro TD's if they run there tournament right. Chris Himing did this with the Texas 10's. He did everything he could to get players to his tournaments and it was successful. He raised a lot of money for Lance Armstrong to top it off.
_________________________________________________
BTW, I already have several sponsors already saying they will sponsor again next year. It is pretty nice when you already have $500 pledged for the 13th annual Mr. Jim's Carrollton Open.
baldguy
Sep 15 2008, 12:52 AM
Bryan's right it's a different ballgame when the TD is a pro... but then again, Bryan doesn't have to give like he does and I want to be sure that people recognize it. It still takes a lot of effort and time to put on a club-type event. Whether he wants it or not, Bryan deserves the praise and appreciation for giving so much back to the Disc Golf community :).
In my mind, the fun and friendship is more important than the money. The MJCO is always a great time even though it is rarely perfect weather :). Just as important as the huge payouts is the huge fun. Bryan also made that happen for us this year!
Three cheers - for lots of reasons :D

It was a crazy week for me with too much travel, a lot of work, sick kiddos and a bad weather forecast and a million reasons to not get up at 5 a.m. Saturday to go play disc golf.
But once I got there, I knew why. Bryan puts on a great show. It's a fun tournament with a lot of good guys (and gals).
Everything runs on time. We got started early Saturday and while the second round wasn't great conditions, we missed the really bad stuff.
And if I ever have a chance to run an event, I'm going to steal the card CTP idea. i love that no matter what card you end up you're going to have a chance to walk away with some goodies in round 4. At my first PDGA event, I was on the BOB advanced card at Mr. Jim's and it was the only thing I had a shot to win.
It was great playing with .. Tony, Justin, Brownlow, Kenny and everyone....
And thanks again mostly to Bryan James for his dedication to the event. It shows year after year. Thanks to all who pitched in, too.
Also, congats to E-Mac, J.D. and Miles who seperated themselves from the pack with consistent play.

I can't believe there weren't more Aggie jokes posted...
That was the first time that I haven't finished an event that I've played in. After such an awful showing on Saturday (putting just did not work in the AM, and I couldn't grip a disc to save my life in the PM), I figured I'd cut my losses and spend time with the family on Sunday. Mother nature responded by providing the best weather in months on Sunday...go figure. But I figured I'd re-figure out how to putt in the meantime and maybe get to play in the DD Lewisville Open since I took Sunday off.
It sure is tough to get things done with a kiddo when you're playing golf all weekend. I miss the Himing days when you could play in a 100+ player 1-day event...
Not knocking the MJCO; this was well run as always and I'm sorry I missed Sunday. Thanks Bryan, Josh, and everyone else!

hey now, there are still 100+ player 1-day events going on... see: the rockwall event I ran in June, the Mesquite event I'm running next month, and the McKinney event I'm running 2 weeks later. Rockwall filled 2 weeks early at 100 players and I expect each of these next two to fill... maybe even earlier.
