Not anymore. If your player rating is higher than the maximum for a division, you have to play up -- unless the tournament is not PDGA sanctioned.

He can play in AM2 as long as he falls into the following guidelines per the pdga competition manual:
2.2. Exceptions
A. Players are allowed to enter a ratings based division they
would otherwise be ineligible to participate only under the
following circumstances
(1) If approved before the event by the PDGA Tour
Manager.
(2) Players who have become ineligible for a division due
to a ratings update may participate for two weeks
following the update, provided they are pre-registered
for the event in question, at the discretion of the TD.
(3) If competing in an applicable points series (see
Section 2.2 B for specifics)

of a points Series provided that
(1) The Series Director has contacted the PDGA prior and

Derrick, there will be two combined holes [6-7 and 16-17] and two alternate holes for Sat's rounds. Sunday there will be 9 alternate holes along with the regular 18.

90 golfers will be plenty. We're not going to waste our time Saturday morning on slackers that can't send their reggies in...nothing personal. :cool: It will sell out at 90 with no exceptions(unless I screwed up).

Actually, the way I read it -- it's up to the NorCal committee to make an exception and the PDGA tour manager to approve it, in advance.

This is not something we have done in the last couple of years. We have disallowed NorCal points for players who have played in a division they were not eligible to compete in at the time.

This said, it is something I can bring up with Jenny Knisely (PDGA State Coordinator, Northern California) as a possibility for next season.

Thanks, John. Wow, another Frying Pan put on the back burner for another year. I'm thinking that about 99 percent of the players enjoyed their weekend. It was a no-frills tournament without a lot of fanfare, games, or raffles. I hope everyone liked the format of 27 holes on Sunday. I know I liked finishing early. The course was set up differently than in the past and I'm pretty sure that the players liked that too. I especially liked temporary hole "F" with the slow dogleg to the right for 690 feet of fairway with trees guarding the right side and a smattering of trees keeping you honest on the left side.
I'd be glad to hear any feedback you players have to say.
