I've gotten reports that the teepads and baskets for the Paschall 18 hole course are in place or will be in place before this weekend. The Tee signs should be in next week if they don't make it before this weekend.

I've been told that some of the holes have been altered a little from the original plans I did, but the general flow is still the same and the course map (http://www.lsdga.com/images/Paschall/Paschall.html) is enough to get around. Please play the holes from the tee pads and not the original design. Stay out of the creek. The rec dept has strong concerns about the creek and could be very upset id they see people in the creek before the course officially opens.

The course is on the north side of New Market just east of I-635. There is no exit from I-635 for New Market, so the directions are a little round about.

From the north, take the Scyene/Military Pkwy (Mesquite Rodeo) exit. Go across Scyene and Military Pkwy and continue past the Rodeo. This is Hickory Tree Rd. New Market is the first road to the left after you pass the rodeo. Go across I-635 and you will see ball fields on the left. Continue across the bridge over the creek and enter the park on the left. You should see baskets from the road. Hole 1 starts behind the playground at the first parking (3 car) on the right.

From the South, take the Lake June exit from I-635 east (right). Lake June becomes Beltline. Go left on New Market. Take the first entrance on the right into the park. You should see baskets from the road. Hole 1 starts behind the playground at the first parking (3 car) on the right.

The original design should have played about 7000' and had an SSA of 55. Blue scoring average was projected to be 60. I'll have to take new measurements Saturday and run the numbers again and see what it looks like now.

So are there blue and red teepads?

The hole length and throw types were based on blue and white skill levels, not red. Once I get the final measurements I'll feed them into the forecaster and see what it looks like. I don't think either of them are too long or unplayable for red players, just not as good scoring separations.

The red course is going to be built next and it is a 9 holer. The blue/gold course is being built last and is also a 9 holes. Both 9 hole courses are in parks where they could expand to 18 if the courses get a lot of play. The blue/gold course would be especially interesting because the other 9 would be in the woods.

I grew up in Mesquite and played pee wee football games at Paschall Park in the 80's. Good to see the Mesquite Parks Department setting up a course, I'll have to play it next time I'm in the metroplex.

After they are officially open for play. The rec dept still has some work to do before they declare them officially open.

The two nine hole course should be playable by this weekend.

well, hole three at DeBusk has to be played from an alternate tee position because the bridge is out of service for now.

After holing out at hole 2, cross sidewalk and tee from the clearing beside the bridge across the creek. You can walk down the bank and cross at the rocks near the basket.

course map (http://www.lsdga.com/maps/debusc.jpg)

Play hole three from the corner of the yardage text.
Hole five plays closer the to bathroom than the map.
Most of the trees around hole 4 tee and hole 3 basket have been removed.
Hole 7 tee is backed up about 70' from the map.

The course is at the corner of Gross and Peachtree.
Exit I-635 at Gross west (toward Dallas) left at the light (Peachtree).
Right into the parking lot just across the bridge.
First tee is behind the bathroom.

both 9 hole courses?

where is the other one?

gnduke
May 07 2008, 02:54 AM
This is the first tee (http://maps.google.com/?sll=32.827337,-96.60549) .
I'm not sure that it is in the ground yet.
It is a kids course (par 3s and 4s).
But should be fun for experienced players too.
The drawback is that there are no facilities.

From I-30, south on Northwest Dr.
Right on Via Ventura.
Right on Via Avenida.
Park on the street past the school.

I'm pretty sure that everything is less than 300'.

Just played Paschall from the longs...great course Gary! I was a little confused about the distances on a few, and one of the long tees was unusual (think it was 14 or 15 ) but overall I thought it was awesome! Favorites so far are 1, 2, and 16...ended up shooting a 57. Can't wait to see a tourney out there!

that teepad was done incorrectly by the city, but have no fear..the line is being built in for a shot through the woods :)

Remember that Steve had a good bit of influence on that course too.

Are there any Mesquite players ready to take ownership of the course and start working with the city to get trash cans and maintenance going ?
