Levelland DG is thriving. Levelland has a great 21 hole course just 30 miles west on Lubbock on 19th Street. Rocky Lawless and crew play at 9:30 am every Saturday morning. Then during DST the group plays doubles on Monday's at 6:00 pm.
The club is also hosting a PDGA sancioned tourney in July 2008. Rocky will be updating with more info soon.

Thoughts for a single day of DG. We start out at Levelland at 9:30, eat lunch, play Mackenzie at 2:00, then eat and drink again, then play McAlister at about 7:00 pm and finish in/near dark. This would be 60 holes of DG in one day! Thoughts?

Levelland will be holding it's first PDGA sanctioned event (C tier). Rocky and the Lighthouse DG Club are working hard at making sure the course and event will be a good one. The course is looking really good after the recent rains. I heard also that there is a great deal of money and merchancise that has been donated (likely this one could qualify as a B tier). More details on the tourney to follow....

Levelland is holding its 3rd Annual Settlers Day Disc Golf Doubles Tourney on July 12th at 5:00 pm ($12)....contact Rocky for more info.
The Lighthouse tourney will be the NEXT weekend. I occasionally get to play at Levelland at the 9:30 am mini. The club has the "Lighthouse" basket up on hole 1. Wow. The lighthouse sits in an elevated concrete wall circle about two feet above the area (old sandbox I think). The lighthouse, made by local Bill, is a metal structure that has the basket mounted on top. When standing in the circle, the bottom of the basket is about eight feet high. Putting with any wind is vewy tweacherwous. I've taken two's and I've heard of six's. The course is really going to be a lot of fun to play. Sign up now.

Registered yet? This one is becoming pretty exciting. I think everyone is ready for a new course/tourney in the region. There is a possibility that this thing could come close to filling. Registered yet?

We had the Old Settlers Day Doubles last night (Sat 12th). Just before 4:00 there was heavy rain in Lubbock. The short 30 miles west in Levelland was clear...and high northerly winds. The club had the full 24 layout for play. I think that there were about 30 players. We paired the adv/pro players randomly by card draw with the jr/rec/int/etc. players. Matt Ryan and Dillon Vance teamed up to take the outright win and $116 with a 67. There were then ties for several other spots. There were players from Amarillo, Portales, Lubbock, Levelland, and other towns I'm sure. The club had 10 meter rings painted, OB painted, the park was in great shape....setting up to be very nice for next week....

The Levelland Lighthouse was a great time! Rocky and all the Lighthouse Club members did a great job. I'm looking forward to next year. Remember there is 9:30 am singles on every Saturday and then 6:00 pm Monday doubles (as light allows).

The Lighthouse DG Club will again be hosting their tourney....July 18/19. The course is in great condition after our recent rains. The tourney has been great the last few years. Don't miss this one if you are anywhere near the area.

There is no final 9 or anything for this right, just 24 on sunday and we are done? Any guess as to when the final round might be over?(just a guess....won't hold you to it) Trying to figure out what time I'd get back to S.A. to see if I can make it up this weekend since I missed it last year. THANKS!

Howdy. I just spoke with Rocky. He said that most likely there will be no F9 as there are many players that are looking to get home and then get ready to head to Worlds in KC. The F9 affects all players as awards are after the round. So, he said that (w/o the F9) it would be reasonable to expect to be completely finished with awards in the 3-4 time range.
FYI - The Founder's Day Doubles this past Sat attracted 24 players including 8 junior players, of course led by Drew. Overall, Dillon (Lubbock, will be playing as a Junior at Worlds) and James (Levelland, well at the other end of the age scale :)) won the doubles. Matt (Lubbock) and Richard (Levelland) took second.
And the weather forecast for the weekend in Levelland as of Monday 13th am:
Fri Jul 17 Mostly Sunny 94°/64° 10 %
Sat Jul 18 Partly Cloudy 93°/66° 20 %
Sun Jul 19 Partly Cloudy 93°/65° 10 %
Looking good!

Thanks for the info Patrick!!! Getting back early was kind of my thing as well as I am going to my first Worlds this year. Plus I've got work on monday......
We've got a few heading to Worlds from here as well. Carl in Open Grandmasters, Nick in open, and Mikey and myself in Advanced.(plus Jerry from Abilene is going) Sounds like there will be several W.T. DGers at Worlds!

No more online registrations (according to the PDGA site), so Rocky would prefer to register as many as possible today at the doubles event (starts at 3:00). BBQ will be served to all registered players (about 7:00). If you can't make it tonight to register, then it will be open from 8:00 - 9:00 am (please, no late entries!).
Misc info is on the flyer (PDGA schedule, Lighthouse, flyer). I see that there are quite a few players signed up already...including four women and three juniors already.
Weather as of Friday am for the weekend:
Today Jul 17 Partly Cloudy 96°/64° 20 %
Sat Jul 18 Isolated T-Storms 90°/62° 30 %
Sun Jul 19 Isolated T-Storms 91°/66° 30 %
The percent chance of rain will likely be after the rounds are done.

Done. The tourney ran with great weather all the way through. During the second round on Sat there were only a few raindrops from a single cloud. Devan took $1000 (plus some CTB things) back to Tulsa! Santos takes second (he won overall in 2008). Matt wins Adv Master by a large margin. Dillon comes from behind to win over Brad in Advanced. I think Wendy wins Womens and Kyle wins Jr. I'm just not sure on Rec and Int. No aces so playoff: $100 each to Eric, Claire, Rilo, and $55 to Kyle. There were many CTB's and many raffle items (mostly won by Tom Tom and Marcus). I'm not sure who the 'buck a chuck' basket went to. Overall, there were many, many local Levelland players, family, and friends that really did a great job with the course prep, tourney, food, and so on. THANKS to all!
