Planning to be in Lubbock on Saturday and was wondering if either park had a mini that day?

MACKENZIE PARK
All year: 2:00 Sat. Doubles 2:00 Sun. Singles
6:00 Thurs. Doubles during DST March 13 thru October 30
[6:00 First Tuesday of the month at McAlister (assorted formats)]
Entry fee for the Windrider weekly events will be $6. This amount automatically includes entry into the ace pot. Windrider membership is not required to play, to take the ace, or to have fun. If you do happen to hit an ace, we would ‘encourage’ you to pay to become a Windrider member*.
We enthusiastically encourage all players to take part in the Windrider weekly events. In fact, if a player shows up, pays the entry fee and is not on a winning team or wins a playoff disc, we’ll give him a disc anyway just for showing up and having some fun with the Windriders. But, one added thing that we ask, is to bring a friend to then next weekly event.
Formats will be decided by the TD. Mostly, we play a best shot format, but occasionally we will play worst shot, play-your-partner disc, best score, alternate, etc. On some occasions we may play combinations of the formats as well (for example; 7 best shot, 7 worst shot, 7 PPD).
Teams are selected on a semi-random basis. Basically, we attempt to pair more seasoned players with newer players. This pairing usually results in the final scores being very close…all shots count! We usually play from the white tees on Saturday’s and from the red tees on Thursday’s, but we do mix it up a little. Newer players are encouraged to play from the red tees to again even the teams up a little more. At times, due to water rising, inclement weather, daylight, etc. the TD has the option to declare certain holes unplayable.
The top half of all players win discs. If teams tie, and are in the top half, a throw-off by ‘team’ decides which team(s) wins a disc. If there is one disc to be given, then all players, except those who already won a disc, throw for the disc. Benefit of doubt in giving out discs goes to the players. Again, the weekly TD decides the tie throw-off locations, etc.
Disc winners will get $8 credit toward a disc. Each club disc has a small sticker with the price written on it. Prices generally range from $8 to $12. Discs, bags, etc. can be purchased through the club and at our friends at Play-It-Again Sports. Windrider members receive some benefits as well in purchase of discs and equipment.
Ace pots will be maintained for both the pro and rec tees (no tone pole aces allowed). The rec tee ace pot will be capped at $150. The pro ace pot will not have a cap amount. The ace pots will only be ‘available’ to be taken at the scheduled club events where ace money is secure BEFORE the round is started.
On a few occasions, discs/merchandise are not available to the winners. We then will have the same entry fees but will play for cash. We will pull $1 per player out for the ace pot and pay out the remaining amount.
MCALISTER PARK
6:00 First Tuesday of the month at McAlister Park (But will play second Tuesday in March 2008 as DST starts on the prior Sunday).
The weekly TD volunteers to help out and promote disc golf.
He/she has final say in formats, team selections, scores, ties, tiebreakers, rules, etc.
Entry fee for the McAlister monthly mini events will be $6. This amount automatically includes entry into the ace pot. Windrider membership is not required to play, to take the ace, or to have fun. If you do happen to hit an ace, we would ‘encourage’ you to pay to become a Windrider member*.
We enthusiastically encourage all players to take part in the Windrider events.
Formats of play at McAlister will be decided by the TD. Mostly, we’ll play singles, but doubles (best shot, worst shot,
play-your-partner disc, best score, alternate, etc.) or versions of singles (California, etc.) may be played on occasion.
We’ll try to have some fun with assorted formats.
For doubles, teams will be selected on a semi-random basis. Basically, we attempt to pair more seasoned players with newer players. This pairing usually results in the final scores being very close…so all shots count! We’ll usually play from the pro tees, but again we’ll mix it up a little bit. Newer players are encouraged to play from the rec tees to again even the teams up a little more. At times, due to water rising, inclement weather, daylight, etc. the TD has the option to declare certain holes unplayable.
The TD will decide payout scenarios before the round begins.
An ace pot will be maintained.
LEVELLAND
Levelland is located a short 30 miles east of Lubbock. Our friends over there have a Saturday 9:30 am mini (singles) all year. During DST they have a weekly Monday mini (doubles).
