Well here we go again. After his defeat at the hands of <font color="red"> Your Disc Golf Hero </font> in 2007 the player known as Lone Wolf has been whining for a tie breaker rematch. After much negotiation and the crashing of a young apprentice we find ourselves here: Two players looking for resolution, with a third looking to build a reputation. This year we return to the format of 2004 in which the one of the three of us with the highest rating at the January 2009 update is the winner.

This year the rules are very simple...there essentially are none. Only sanctioned events can generate ratings obviously. Each of us is to free to play as many or as few events as we like to massage our individual rating to the point we feel is a winner. We are free to play whatever division(s) we qualify for. We don't have to be at the same event for it to count. For each solo event played the participant has to provide an update here of their performance. For an event where two or all three are present the player with the lowest score has to provide the update here.

There are two prizes this year. The third place finisher has to wear a custom pink polo in the first round of all his 2009 Association tourneys. On the left sleeve will be the losers name, and on the right sleeve will be the losing rating. On the left chest will be a phrase enthusiastically endorsing the Association. The third place finisher pony$ up for the polo. The second place finisher (i.e. other loser) has to buy the traditional victory meal for the winner at Americas finest dining destination. Here are the opening statements from each of the participants:

HawkGammon: (http://www.pdga.com/tournament/playerstats.php?PDGANum=22013)

<font color="red">Hello sheep, it's the return of your International Disc Golf Celebrity from exile. As you fans know I am 2-1 in these year long bets. My opponents this time consist of a man known far and wide as The Load who had quintuple bypass surgery nine months ago, and a dwarf entering his second season of competition; and they wonder why I was less than motivated to take them on. My plan is to dominate as I have in the previous three battles and retire from these debacles 3-1 and leave Lone Wolf/Jerman and all the other wannabes to thrash about in 2009 and beyond. I think we all know how this is going to end. I'm keeping this brief as I know the weed has left most readers with short term memory issues. Godspeed.</font>

LoneWolf: (http://www.pdga.com/tournament/playerstats.php?PDGANum=19614)

<font color="green"> Enter the Joker:

The fans have asked for it, not it's a reality. The rematch to end all rematches, With one year long win each it would seem a fair matchup. But Hawk actually owns a dominating heads up record the past two years. I'm coming off a year where i lost badly to him and also had heart surgery. Quintuple bypass no less. And to top it off, Hawk has drawn his young protege Jerman into the fray to further increase the odds against me.
But a true supervillian like myself can offset impossible odds, befuddle multiple ambiguously [censored] superheroes, using his superior brainpower.
Yes, Hawk is definitely in better shape. Using a combination of workouts, supplements , and his huge ego, Hawk is probably in the best shape he's been in for years. He has the deck stacked against me, and he drew his little super buddy into the fray to insure he doesn't end up wearing the pink polo of shame.
But i think Hawk will be buying me Hooters this year, and possibly wearing that pink polo next year.
I am feelin better than i have in years and my endurance is up. I now work 15 minutes from home, so in addition to being able to play after work at rockburn on a regular basis, i plan on getting into better shape. If you review the rounds, clearly i have shot better rated rounds than either of them in the past, but my endurance let me down many times. Now that my ticker is fixed, I feel my endurance is on the rise. Will it be better than Hawk's? obviously not. But much better than Jerman, who has never won a sidebet against me, and when ahead has folded on command in the second round. He is one of the few people who had less endurance than 2%. At least he has a hot wife! And against Hawk, that endurance will be less of an advantage, and I will be able to ride my superior accuracy to a higher rating and a win.

So to Catman and the boy blunder, be ready. my Evil plan is about to be sprung on you! </font>

Jerman: (http://www.pdga.com/tournament/playerstats.php?PDGANum=32461)

<font color="blue">...and in this corner of the globe, hailing from parts unknown weighting in at 160 pounds of solid man is the disc golfer known through out the world as "the Jerman" (the crowd goes wild) Don't let his boyish good looks fool you folks of the gallery, he is as vicious as a pit bull when he has his straight as an arrow drive unleashed and will strike like a viper with his deadly accurate approach shots.

And now a few words from the man of the hour...

Thank you folks! I look forward to this epic battle with the two members of our senior community who have graciously accepted my challenge. Reading over the previous two years of wins and loses by each of them it was starting to get a bit boring albeit that we nearly lost Lone Wolf half way thru last season due to his poor diet and lack of exercise which was exciting to read about. Which brings me to my own personal story of near death experiences...

Let me start by stating that I have been out of semi-retirement from disc golf now for about 1 year. Now that the rust is knocked off the arm, so to speak, I have been training during the winter months to be in top shape this season after finding out in late September that my blood pressure was a staggering 142/98 - I nearly pulled a Lone Wolf!! It was due to poor diet choices (cheeseburger value meals nearly daily for 14 years and a 2-liter a day (of Pepsi) habit). Couple that with two small children work stress and hardly any exercise and I was a walking time bomb. Looking back on some of my summer rounds (110 degrees at the Rockburn Rumble and the Knob Hill event) I am surprised I did not collapse - I dehydrated myself rather quickly by indulging is sodium ridden Gatorade way too much at this time as well. Since finding this out I have made diet changes and do regular work out sessions weekly. BP is down to 130/84 with these changes and I am still tweaking the diet to avoid going on any medications. Previous to my semi retirement I played from 89-98 before suffering a work injury that severely strained a muscle in my back. Back then candy plastic and STAR plastic was non existent. Imagine my delight when I went to purchase new plastic and found all of these new plastics. I have been experimenting with new molds and plastics and have found my niche. During the last year I played in 3 sanctioned tourney's for the first time, finishing closer to the lead in each successive event. It was very exciting and challenging and I look forward to the 2008 season.

Work out/diet regimen includes:
bicycling for 45 minutes 3-4 days a week
hitting the solo flex for upper body dexterity (and to keep the ladies happy) 3-4 days a week
drinking 48-60 ounces of water a day
eating whole grains and fresh fruit as opposed to the cheeseburger diet

Having corrected the near fatal diet issues and being on a steady work out plan now gives me the physical edge hands down. I'd have to say that i am the early favorite in this challenge for many reasons. I purchased a Mach 5 basket this fall and have placed it in the back yard and throw at least a hundred putts and approaches on the weekends (weekdays it gets dark before i get home from work) I am in my mid 30's and am getting into the best shape of my life. My competitors are mid to upper 40ish and are facing ED issues that will surely creep into the back of their minds during match play as they try to keep their putts up! I will be coaching the Clinic League Mudcats again this year (giving back to my community is a high priority in my life) and this will only strengthen my mental focus more. While it may limit some of my sanctioned tourney play in the spring since it will chew up my Saturday's from April to the end of May I will have a wide open summer to travel and compete and raise the current rating from 906 up to a solid 930ish since my supermodel wife does not teach all summer long and likes to travel around this country of ours with children in tow as she visits childhood friends in Vermont and North Carolina. I am starting out with a lower rating than the seniors I am battling with but have the upmost confidence that I will raise the rating at each event this year while these two clowns struggle to keep hope alive. I would not be surprised if an assassin try's to take out Hawk on Tour this year due to his highly controversial comments on this site and Lone Wolf will have a difficult time pulling himself away from the buffet between rounds and may show up too late to make the second round and DNF his way into a downward spiral of a Mickey D's McFlurry!

This concludes my opening speech and I look forward to see all of you on the Tour this year and don't be a stranger when I come to your town to play! </font>

200 ounces of water a day? do you walk around with a catheter and a bag?

JERMAN
Jan 18 2008, 08:31 AM
lone wolf says i fold on command during the second round...but if you look at my round ratings you will see i play better during the second round...much like the real dr evil there is a hole is his theory as wide as the gap between his ears! :p

and mr 200 ounces of water must never leave the bathroom, wait it all makes sense now - cue the foot tapping man in the next stall :o

Does that thought make you hot?

hawkgammon

lone wolf says i fold on command during the second round...

I believe he was basing that on information from Odeana.

JERMAN
Jan 24 2008, 02:58 PM
it appears ydgh has once again exiled himself from the pdga and all of the sheep which means he will not compete in any events this year which translates to a DQ (disqualification and drama queen) move on his part. i do not foresee him returning anytime soon - i do have a strong feeling he will try to hold out and say that his current rating is in tact and that until both of us rise above it he is not the loser, but the agreement was based on competing in 2008 and ending the year with a rating therefore not competing is grounds for instant DQ which = loser /msgboard/images/graemlins/smirk.gif

lone wolf and i will be commencing the bet with an unofficial battle this saturday at the rockburn ice bowl/chili cook off, highlights to be posted after the event as sort of a precursor to the way this thing will unfold in the upcoming months...hopefully he will sample the chili after the round so the air remains refreshing during the round :)

Dick
Jan 25 2008, 04:34 PM
hmmm, since Hawk is out, does the loser still have to get the pink shirt?

also i assume our standard 5$ sidebet is on for sat? maybe you can win for a change, but i doubt it.

JERMAN
Jan 25 2008, 09:14 PM
why certainly sir - the loser (you) will be wearing the fashion statement of the year in 2009 and the beauty of it all is you get to pay for it too :)

5 bones as usual, you are after all on your home course - i dub this "the year of the Jerman winning Lonewolf's bank roll"

JERMAN
Feb 03 2008, 06:18 PM
an update to two "non pdga" events -

chilibowl at the rock 1/26
jerman 64 - lonewolf 63

zingles at the rock 2/3
jerman 59 - lonewolf 61

which leaves us at
jerman 1 - $5
lonewolf 1 - $5

tune in next time fans for the tiebreaker to see who pulls ahead...

Dick

more like the year of jerman trying to win all that money back he lost to lonewolf last year.

JERMAN

public humiliation is calling out to you Lonewolf - pick your poison this Sunday -

Whispering Falls Ice Bowl - where you will surely get injured or have that fatal heart attack trying to navigate the course and shoot in the mid 80s no doubt!

or

Seneca Faux Leap - where you have a better chance of at least finishing the round unscathed and breaking 100 over 27 holes.

Your choice - either way but declining either invitation is a sign that you are obviously worried about me in this head to head event and that you lack the stones we all already know you don't have...oh and let's raise the side bet to 10 bones big boy!

there will be the standard nomad sidebet action - that you can get in on, this is personal between lonewolfy and I

I am planning on Seneca.

hey dtwo as the nomads official basher you are always welcome to get sloppy seconds if thats what you want

JERMAN
Feb 23 2008, 05:07 PM
the game is on - hawk jerman and lonewolf will be at whispering falls tomorrow to start the battle royal - given the choice we decided seneca is for girls d2 (have fun throwing with the lasses)

hoping some more nomads show up as well - paul and ski??

Dick
Feb 23 2008, 10:24 PM
Jerry you "insert humiliating description here". this is nfl pre-season action at best. it's not only an ice bowl, but since it isn't a pdga event no ratings will be generated from it. It will be funny to take your take 10$ from you though....

hawkgammon
Feb 24 2008, 07:41 AM
Essentially a pointless exercise today as the losers will both claim they were "practicing" since this is a charity event. However I fully believe clarity will be achieved and psychological blows will be dealt.

Dick
Feb 24 2008, 09:26 PM
so you and jerry will now claim you were practicing?

jerman got the total beatdown and his 10$ was donated to charity.

hawk at least was tied after the first round and tried to keep up with me, but in the end was unsuccessful. bow to your 2008 whispering falls ice bowl silver champion! i could tell hawk was flustered after i survived the second bataan death march of the day up the ravine and he and kelly promptly botched their drives and started to fade.

see you next week when it counts...

hawkgammon
Feb 24 2008, 09:41 PM
...the second bataan death narch of the day up tghe ravine...

This gibberish would indicate complete exhaustion on your part.

I was practicing and came in second.

Jerman demonstrated that he's going to look stunning in pink in 2009.

Highlight of the event was at the awards when the TD called Jerry up and announced him as German.

Dick
Feb 24 2008, 10:25 PM
or a faulty keyboard. prepare for humiliation this year. or alot of "practicing"

btw, you two losers owe me 8$ each for gas.

hawkgammon

You mean that second bowl of mashed potatos/chili/hotdog/cheese product you downed doesn't count as buying you lunch?

Can I paypal you that?

Dick
Feb 24 2008, 11:41 PM
no

sure, add 12$ for processing fees....

hawkgammon
Feb 25 2008, 12:15 AM
How about I just throw in a half dozen frozen yogurt fruit parfaits and we call it even?

Dick
Feb 25 2008, 12:27 AM
how about i just add it to the gas money you'll owe me for driving you to your next beat down. loriella here we come.

how about a sidebet of loser pay for wings at hooters for the other two?

hawkgammon
Feb 25 2008, 01:28 AM
After the junk I ate today, I may want to pass on Hooters. Besides I may have a better offer awaiting me back home than dinner with you two stiffs.

Curious how quiet Jeri has been this evening. How much wound licking is he engaged in?

dtwo

Very sad that there was a conflict for this tournament. It is obvious by the Whispering Falls results that the real talent played Seneca! All of the Nomads that showed at Seneca were weighed and measured ... and found wanting ;)!

hawkgammon
Feb 25 2008, 04:14 PM

I disagree. The LoneWolf has already proved he can survive the tough terrain by smacking Hawk at the Falls. I am betting he pulls out this win too.

jerman is irrelevant

Agreed

as he won't play the longs the second round...

I thought the boys were always going to play in the same division so that the ratings will match heads up ...

If Hawk and Lonewolf are playing Masters that defeats the purpose of the heads up challenge!

Sadly ... I will miss this opportunity to Nomad Bash.

on saturday i am only playing in the new ratings division that the association came up with this year for my current rating which i will do all year (when it goes up so will my entry's into advanced divisions)- good luck with those long tees as i hope they do justice to your ratings - borer and broaching machine! ;)

Dick just called and said that he's settled on his bag for the season kick-off. Based on the number of molds and different plastics he rattled off, I can't imagine him actually fitting them all into that purse (http://www.discgolfer.com/mini.html) he carries. It's the lime green one by the way.

To be fair Dick you only beat the boy by <font color="red"> 10!!!!!! </font> strokes on the day. Obviously he is ready to pounce both of us Saturday. The fact that he'll be playing the short tees both rounds means he should clearly be the fresher player in the second round, and if he doesn't produce the best rating that round he should just concede now.

Germand,

As I've stated previously...until you actually defeat me straight up in a tournament I feel that taking your money would be criminal. I know that Dick on the other hand has no such moral hang-ups. Besides we already have a bet, and I feel that putting the dagger in you on Saturday will be sweet satisfaction enough.

Mar 01 2008, 11:05 PM
You guys are pretty quiet!

of course that may be because you are not the " 2008 Loriella Challenge Champion" like me. And i have the rock to prove it.

First round none of us played together tees were short, but winds were high. I pulled in with a 58 to lead my card with hvnafit. Jerman shot 58 to post a good first round. Hawk pulls in with a 56 and his confidence was high. I was playing well, but banged the chasity belt at least 6 times from inside 30. ouch. i really don't like innova baskets. the yellow tends to draw my eye i guess.

anyway, hawk and i run off to subway and leave jerry to fend for himself. When we return i down a quick bottle of 5 hour energy and we head off to hole 15. of course 15 and 16 were my last two holes of the first round and i bogeyed both to finish the round. well, i do worse this time and give hawk and the group a stroke on each again. so hawk is leading by 4 overall now. no worries, the 5 hour energy will kick in soon. i think we have a 4 fest on 17, and then on 18 after hawk slams his drive into the hill with everyone else, i rip off a prodigous shot clearing the top of the hill. i follow it up with a perfectly executed up shot to start my road back. I eventually draw even with hawk around hole 3. then we battle back and forth until he finally pulls away to a 2 stroke lead on hole 9 with a good putt. well, here comes the pond. trying to finish me off and apply the pressure, Hawk clears the pond and slides left into the brush. Of course, now i have to go for it, and barely clear the edge and skip up to the right. we both get 3's, while hvnafit has an unfortunate doink off the bucket and rolls right back into the water. ouch! on we go, with Hawk leading by 2 with 4 holes to play. Hawk immediately cranks his disc off the trees on the right and kicks left off the narrow fairway, starting a wild adventure down the left side. Meanwhile i smooth the buzz right up the gut for the easy drop in 3 to Hawks triple bogey 6 and a 3 stroke swing. Next hole is the turnover down the hill which i execute about 40 feet better and then after hawk hits trees on the entry into the pin area, i deftly place my putter right next to the basket. bang, hawk misses a tough obstructed putt and my lead is now 2 overall. next i crank the buzz down toward the pond for the second trip over the pond for the round, but i end up a ittle left off the fairway. hawk is now in flutie mode and botches the attempt with a driver and takes 2 shots to match my position. we both are forced to plop out to gain position for the approach, but hawk is a stroke behind and though my drive almost bounces back into the drink i execute to pull another stroke ahead. on the last hole we both put in professional 4's and the round is over.
Dick - 69
Hawk - 74

Jerman shot a 64, but played the short tees. Once the rounds are put up the temporary ratings will be incorrect since some people played short tees in round 2, so the long tee people will have their rating diluted temporarily and the short people will have theirs inflated. We won't know the real deal until the next update, but i definitely beat hawk, and probably beat jerman also.

better luck next time, lads!

so, how did you like the show?

You had a great drive on #18 from the long tee, you dodged a watery grave by about 1' after I punked you by clearing the pond from the long tee on #10, and you had a good drive/approach combo on our third to last hole (#12) to force me into a decision: play safe to protect the rating or go into Flutie (http://farm3.static.flickr.com/2335/2056831310_43e9ed3014.jpg?v=0) mode to try and pull out first place in our division. I chose the later which wasn't the wisest move in terms of this bet, but it's a long season so I figured I would take the gamble. Obviously it didn't pay off. We'll meet again soon...Dick.

"on our third to last hole (#12) to force me into a decision: play safe to protect the rating or go into Flutie mode to try and pull out first place in our division."

nice try on the excuse. but on the second to last hole you played it safe instead of trying to flutie over the water and we tied the hole, and we tied the last one also, no flutie mode there, just good solid play by me to not allow you a sniff at getting back in it. fact of the matter is, i didn't putt well in the first round and gave you a 2 stroke lead and gave you 2 more on the first 2 holes of round 2 for a 4 stroke overall lead. then i beat you by seven over the last 16 holes to win by 3.

maybe, but i did win, and beat my "opponents". i played trophy only so i didn't take any winnings except the trophy.
eventually as i get better i will start stepping up in divisions. And as long as they offer 38 divisions, why shouldn;t i try to play in the appropriate one for my rating and age according to the pdga?

BTW, check out the Punisher, which is minimal divisions offered to form a ratings based event...What division you playing in Paul? Gold?

hawkgammon
Mar 03 2008, 12:21 PM
... but on the second to last hole you played it safe instead of trying to flutie over the water and we tied the hole,

Actually you picked up a stroke on the second to last hole. Of course no one should be surprised that you don't recall the strokes accurately considering you scorecard history at Loriella. I chose not to try the pond at that point as the risk reward was not in my favor based on my lie and the overall situation.

then i beat you by seven over the last 16 holes to win by 3.

Ummm that sounds like a consistent dominating run, but the reality was that we were tied for the day following a bit of back and forth after 32 holes and one big disaster by me with four holes to go gave you a chance to creep ahead forcing me to Flutie. Nothing I saw Satuday gives me concern.

Perusing the thread I found some unfinished business...

I guess due to his giddiness at winning a rock, Dick has forgotten that he won the sidebet with Jericurl for the day. They shot the same 58 the first round, and since Jeri was playing the short tees again the second round controversy ensued at halftime over how to have a stroke bet. They eventually agreed to let the bet be decided by second round ratings:

Dick: 958
Jeri: 896

Lone Wolf was an easy choice at Loriella; although sadly it appears that only he and I thought so. I am concerned about the TD factor though ...

The Punisher will surely fill, and unless he gets some major TD help he will get no time to warm up ... then again he never warms up.

My money is on the Lone Wolf.

Jerman is a non-factor, but at least you will all play in the same division this time so he can see how far he needs to improve.

Dick
Mar 06 2008, 06:28 PM
Don't worry fellow nomad killer. Being the underdog against Hawk is satisfying. Especially when you beat him and he has to gnaw on why the whole way home.
Of course there is no way to be the underdog to Jerman, so i haveto just dominate him.Hopefully he looks pretty in pink.

the TD thing shouldn't be a problem. People will chip in and help as usual, and i never do much warming up anyway. But I hope everyone votes for Hawk so that the defeat is that much more crushing, what with letting his fans down and all. I wonder how they are holding up?

Better than average shooting Hawk, but not quite enough to take the Nomad side bet. If you stop holding Nomads events when I am busy I will stop by and give you some lessons ;).

Sadly ... I had to watch Dick beat his Disc against tree after tree on #7. It was almost like watching Dick get beat up with an ugly stick. Dick next time try not to do so much zallywhacking. I still think that Dick swings a bigger Disc (if you know what I mean), so he gets my vote for Bluemont.

I think Hawk's 969 round at the Punisher was just a fluke. I have not seen such a pumped up performance from Hawk in quite a while. He must have been riding a high from being in front after the first round. I think that Hawk got a big rise from seeing Dick behind him in the field of players.

This begs another question...

At which upcoming tourney does Your Disc Golf Hero give Dick on of those beloved double digit beatdowns?

Which begs another question .... does the sentence even make sense?

What is a "Dick on"?

The answer is: What hasn't Dick been on?

... and the poll really did not make any sense.

You are being dense Coach. We have played two events, so the first opportunity for the double digit smackdown would be at the third tourney, followed by the fourth tourney etc. Codorus is looming on Dick's horizon and there's a lot of walking there!

Sorry that I was being so soft in the head ... sometimes things just get stuck in there.

I do not see that Bluemont would cause Dick to bow under pressure. Codorus is indeed a strenuous course, but I expect Dick to keep vertical there too. I suspect your only hope that Dick might fold like a limp noodle would be the MAAC.

Is the MAAC on the tournament list for this magnificent challenge?

If you can't do it at the Punisher after Dick took a 10 on #7 in the first round, I just don't see any bigger collapse on the horizon.

Dick: 47-62 (109) [927 rating]

Jerman: 48-63 (111) [915 rating]

A wire to wire win in the highly competitive Advanced Masters field. The Association divisional structure is brilliant!

In true Disc Golf Hero fashion I actually saved Dick two strokes as he failed to check his card after the humbling second round spanking at my hands and falling to third place. He ran away after reporting his final hole score, and the last man with the card during the round tallied his score incorrectly. I fixed it before submitting the card.

i'm not particularly worried with your last 2 events. you only beat me by about 2 strokes a round and i haven't been able to putt worth a ****. i'll practice that some and be ready to return the favor next time.

Stroking Dick has never been a part of this competition. I've been doing nothing but beating Dick off for over two years. Who knew this encounter would come to such a quick conclusion? I guess we underestimated the ability of Dick to fold prematurely.

Dick
Apr 10 2008, 06:36 PM
yeah, that some big talk there. i have a 5 stroke victory and you have 2 5 stroke victories, one at your home course and one at the bluemont mudpit, where i have never played well for some reason. The only thing premature is your celebration. Personally i think you've shot your wad and will return to your regular 920 golf.

It won't be enough to give you the win, and it appears you will be stuck wearing pink next year as long as our State Coordinator Dick (http://www.pdga.com/player-stats?PDGANum=19614) conspires to suppress the results of this tourney (http://www.pdga.com/event?TournID=8201) which will negatively impact his standings in the bet. Tsk tsk. Such conduct from an Association official. I'm shocked!

Jerman called this morning and boldly predicted he will best Dick by three or four points to take second place on January 27th and avoid the shame of the pink polo. Though he is desperately hoping the Pohick results were turned in by the deadline to be included for this update. Otherwise they help his rating later, but not this bet. Both he and Dick have already conceeded what 44% of you knew...that Your Disc Golf Hero would win.

As Jerman wonders where the results are for the Dead Dogs of Fall and Pohick to narrow the gap between him and Dick for second, Dick worries that his Calvert debacle will drag him down to the point where Jeri's Calvert &amp; Soiree finishes push him up to. How will the Mauertown Fly effect Jeri's rating???

DMX Adopts Pink Prison Wardrobe
Posted Fri Jan 16, 2009 4:05pm PST by Billy Johnson, Jr. in Hip-Hop Media Training

Looks like Arizona Sheriff Joe Arpaio has come up with the cure for DMX's addiction to jail. The hip-hop star and repeat offender, like all of Arpaio's other inmates in the Maricopa county jail, must wear pink t-shirts, underwear and socks.

The girlie wardrobe colors caught DMX by surprise. "This is ridiculous, this is disrespectful," DMX said with a sarcastic laugh during an interview with My Fox Phoenix. "Why the pink?"
