Golly gee whiz, did I miss a lot while in North Carolina...see, I have been there so much lately, I am beginning to type like them, except I spell better! :o

OK...to try to catch up on some things...Happy belated Bday Murph!
Amazing "Ace" Redmann (getting the dates synched) saving time and money! :p
Congrats on the Ace L-train...see! you didn't really need two shots anyway!!?

While I was away...I didn't waste it...since Memorial Day (5/26) I have played 21 new courses for a total now of 129 courses played. Some of them were really cool! Such as Rock Hill Winthrop...Victor Ashe in Knoxville...Roswell, GA...Chapel Hill, NC...Bowers in Tuscaloosa, AL...and Hornets Nest in Charlotte, NC... others were ok but these were a great bunch of courses, well worth the stop to play!

I sure wish I would have taken more pics of all but some were just needing to be played instead of photographed... :o
I feel like such a [censored] for not getting a picture of the Texas hole at Winthrop...the one with the bamboo wall and double mando doorway! :o It plays very cool though! ;)

I truly wish that I could have had all of you along to share in the fun! That would have been

Hope to see some of you this weekend and hope to get some of the latest pics up as soon as possible for all to see!

Lastly...what/where is PIASO?

Later,
Ben

I have a question for you guys. My buddy and I were playing McKinney yesterday and remembered that there was talk about another 18 holes going in. Was that ever finished and where is it going to be at? Thanks for the info.

Giles
Jun 21 2008, 08:11 PM
It is going in just the other side of the freeway from the alex clark. I belive the main wait is on a bridge. I also belive the ball to be rolling on the bridge and baskets/signs may have been ordered. Don't worry, you will hear when it goes in.

gnduke
Jun 22 2008, 01:48 AM
The parks dept doesn't want anyone over there until the bridge is finished. They know disc golfers well enough to know that if they put tees, signs, and especially baksets in the ground, the golfers will be over there before they think it is safe to do so.

It should go pretty quick once the bridge project is completed.

yeah happy b-day Giles. I'm golfing in Crowley today for the mini... maybe see some of you folks there

BTW - a grats to PT for making a huge jump up the TX ratings pile to #26 (T) overall in TX. Nate isn't far behind at #29 (T)!! Nolan broke the tie with JD by moving up to 1017, becoming the top-rated player in TX all by himself (again). JD turned in some solid rounds, recovering from injury and staying at 1014 (#2).

It looks like the top 50 is pretty evenly distributed between North TX and South TX. Even some West TX thrown in there too :D. It's been a great year for DG in Texas so far.

Speaking of... who is going to make it this weekend to the PIASO? I should be in... gotta try and turn my rating around after the second straight drop of 8+ points

there may come a time that I start running a monthly or possibly weekly mini, but it won't interfere with our thursday night STD :). I personally like having a regular game just for fun with a group I like. Hell, we all spend enough in gas just to get there and play.

I missed a couple of weeks for various reasons... mainly that I don't like playing GB forwards when we have a much better course right there on the same piece of land :).

I should make it out this week, though. Trying to get back in the swing of things before this weekend's big tournament. I shot -7 from the blues last night (on the natural 20) but left a bunch out there. I still hold that it *should* have been a -9 but Chuckles juked me on the "double" mando hole that apparently has 4 mandos on tuesday nights. I was all set to make my birdie putt when our local Cosby impersonator tells me that I must move to the dropzone because I missed a mando that I did not know existed. Shenanigans! At least we still tied :)

To those not playing Crowley for some reason: you are going to miss out. This year is a teetime tournament which means one round of 30 per day, and most divisions will get some relief from the heat by having their rounds play early or late. Guaranteed $1000 to first place Open, and at least $3k in added cash. over 100 players signed up so far. This is going to be a big one!

yes, he said "double mando". He *meant* to say "quadruple mando". I played it as a double mando. the *two* mandos that are marked on the two trees near the teepad. I didn't know the other two trees were supposed to be mandos since they are not marked at all... besides, double means two. not four. I hope you have someone else teaching your kid math ;) :D

I have never played the "Double Mando" But was able to understand and had the common sense to confirm with card mates the double mando  I took double Mando to mean double clown mouth since they call the clown mouth a Mando and not a double mando! But we cant all have book smarts and common sense  :DJust giving you a hard time I have had the luxury of playing this course a bit more than you :DI also had card mates that where sober(not including me) :D

it doesn't really matter since I still won my division... not realizing that I should have played open with you guys... or rather, some of you guys should have played advanced with me :). I didn't know until after the mini that pretty much everyone but the rec players played pro. I guess I'll know for next time :)

for fun: Rule #802.12A(3):
"In the case of a double mandatory when no line is marked, the mandatory line is the straight line connecting the two mandatories, and extends beyond them in both directions. "

show me a legal way to draw the mandatory line for that "double mando" and I'll concede :D

Most folks around here are afraid to exchange money and put their game on the line....:)

garywatts
Jun 25 2008, 10:15 PM
OMBYGB has to do with doubles not singles nor a money game, thats how it started and we try to keep it that way. there are plenty of money games going on all over the metroplex so dont be affraid to join one, we just like have a free fun time, this is only my thoughts. but if the group needs to change then so be it.

baldguy
Jun 25 2008, 10:51 PM
man I spent like 4 billion dollars in gas to get to crowley then had to pay 8 whole dollars to play am. they wanted another 4 to play pro! craziness

can we play the 'buster tomorrow please? I need to practice more than "you hyzer you putt you walk" :D

okcacehole
Jun 26 2008, 12:01 AM
we only played forward once in the last month

See you tomorrow Watts..may need that lefty putter again :)

baldguy
Jun 26 2008, 12:13 AM
twice, actually... at least. the last time I played, it was forwards (the thursday before the TDO) and last week it was forwards. The week before I asked and got no response so I figured that would be forwards as well. It's okay if the group wants to play forwards but I just won't make it out as much. I'm playing tomorrow regardless of direction, as long as the weather permits.

So... who has yet to sign up for the PIASO? Lots of names from the group are missing from the list. I think the format is going to be great, and there are already at least 120 players signed up so you know turnout is going to be good. Tomorrow night at midnight is the cutoff for registration, both online and in person. If you are procrastinating, get it together quick :)

okcacehole
Jun 26 2008, 12:15 AM
5th Thursday since then..I don't care about the format..speak up and convince the group, but backwards gets in the way of a lot of other players including the other Carrollton crew who plays out there on Thursdays

On July 12, 2008 the City of Crowley will be hosting their Celebration of Freedom event at Bicentennial Park. There will be lots of food vendors, kids rides, wrestling matches, bands playing all day, and of course a disc golf tournament. The city has also spent over $10,000.00 for the fireworks display for that night. They guarantee that it will be the best Fireworks dispaly in Tarrant County.

Our regularly scheduled Saturday mini will be moved back to 1:00 p.m. due to me having to be in the parade. The format for this mini will be flip doubles. We will play red, white and blue tees. The City of Crowley is going to offer $150.00 added cash for this event. The top three teams will get some of this cash. There will be an $8.00 entry fee as usual and we will be playing for the ace pot as well.

Steve and I took it... we were -6 with #18 left to play. since I have never missed that birdie (4 for 4 :D), we're going to count it :). -7 for us, the other teams (also counting that birdie) would have been -5, -3, +1

i'm in for the no more long backwards with a big group... but also no more picking up a newbie straggler who doesn't understand speed of play... that added an hour to our round. maybe more since we likely would have avoided alot of the group conflicts.

maybe if we parked in the school parking lot and started on #4's basket, we'd have a better chance at getting through faster... but that's not really feasible I guess

I need to talk to Bryan about playing the course backwards (with some adjustments) for the MJCO. I think it would make things very interesting. Also, if anyone has a phone number for Kevin "Pineapple" Agpolo, please send me a PM

It is still under construction. The weeds in the creek are getting a little out of control, but 2 - 6, 17, and 18 are there. We played those forwards, then we played them backwards. We also used the practice basket in place of 1 and we added a hole from 6 - 5 on the forward part. Really, just making it up as we went, but still had a good time. Construction appears to be moving at a good pace.

Anyone interested in a TitleDISC polo shirt? I'm going to have some made up and I can increase the order if people are interested. What price range would be attractive? I can go anywhere from a $18 shirt to a $100 one but I was thinking more like $25. thoughts?

The shirt *should* look something like: small TD logo on the left breast, large TD logo and "TitleDISC" below it on the upper-to-mid back. It won't be a cheapie shirt, but the quality really depends on how much people are willing to spend. I'm going to order at least a few of them for Deidre and Myself, plus a select few sponsored players :)

Jul 29 2008, 12:28 PM
if anyone knows a cheaper place to get quality moisture-wicking polos, please pass it my way. As of now I'm buying from a place that has a warehouse here in Arlington, then taking them to a local printer. It's about $24 for the shirts ($30 for 2x) for a nice 70/30 cotton/poly moisture-wicking performance shirt. Then it's all about the screen printing charges. $10 artwork, $15 per screen and $3 per shirt (one color, two sides) is about the best I've been able to find locally. If I do a dozen shirts, assuming all XL or smaller, I'm looking at $364 plus tax - roughly $400

That comes to about $33.33 per shirt. The more I order, the cheaper it gets but it doesn't get *really* cheap. I can get a nice color block 50/50 golf shirt for about $12 less per shirt, but it's not moisture-wicking and the available colors aren't all that great. I'm going to keep looking :). At least now I know what price range people are interested in. Once it cools down I'll order some more stuff that's not dry-fit and therefore much more affordable

baldguy
Jul 29 2008, 12:43 PM
okay, if you want a dry-fit polo or t-shirt with the TitleDISC logo on front and back, please send me an *email* ( jdann@discgolfportal.com ) and I'll get one made for you. I'm doing the polo shirts specifically to send to Worlds with PT and Nate (if Nate ever gets back to me ;)) but I'll also make some t-shirts. As of now the t-shirts are going to run $17 and the dry-fit polos $35, but if I can get them cheaper I will pass the savings on to you.

Whatever I order above and beyond what is already spoken for will go up on titleDISC.com for sale after we get back from the SN Am Championships in Pensacola. Right now I'm going to do the following, please let me know soon if you change your mind :)

<u>Polos</u> - $35
JD Ramirez - L
Paul Testa - XL
Nate Bitner - L
Deidre Struchen - Ladies
Josh Dann - 2XL
Justin Jones - L
Bucky Garrett - L
Ray Murray - L
2-3 extra in L and XL

<u>T-Shirts</u> - $17

If I have your size wrong, or if you want to change the quantity or type please let me know soon! I know this is short notice but I need to get at least a few of them printed for Worlds, so I gotta hurry. I will print more soon so don't fret if I don't get your email in time :)

But, you're welcome to buy one. I just picked up some dry-fit polo shirts at $15 each that I think are equal in quality to the ones I was going to get for $24. So, I should be able to sell them for about $25 each without losing any money. I also got a deal on some leftover Starter brand dry-fit tee shirts that I should be able to sell for about $12 each. I'll let you guys know the final prices once I get them printed. No profit for me on these, I just want to cover my expenses and get some folks wearing cool TitleDISC gear :)

Jul 29 2008, 08:50 PM
Okay, I have the shirts now, they just need to be printed. The Polos are based on these two shirts:

http://www.siegfried.com/InsidetheRopes.htm - two-tone dry fit polo

http://www.siegfried.com/NoSweat.htm - solid (with piping) dry fit polo

I'm going to do the titleDISC basket logo on the left chest on each, with TitleDISC printed underneath. The sponsor shirts will also have a large version of the same on the back. I'm also doing some dry-fit Starter brand tees and some regular cotton tees with both sides printed. If anyone would like their polo to be done like the sponsor shirts, please let me know. I'm dropping them off at the printer tomorrow :)

Prices will be:
Dry-fit Polo - $25
Dry-fit Sponsor Polo - $30
Dry-fit Tee - $15
Regular Tee - $10

Once I recoup expenses from these shirts, I'm going to do some nu-fit hats, too. Those will be embroidered and should run about $20. All of this stuff and more should be available to the general public by the time the Mesquite tournament rolls around... but you guys get to be the first ones with official TitleDISC gear :)

any suggestions for other printed merch? I was thinking about doing a few different logo designs on tees and polos along with koosies, hats, and eventually windbreakers and sweatshirts. nothing too huge but I do want to have apparel available for the events I run. Of course for the events there will also be discs and minis but most of them will be tournament stamps. Feedback is good! What do people like to get in their payouts besides discs?

gnduke
Jul 29 2008, 09:30 PM
What colors ?

Why should people be able to buy sponsor shirts ?

I'd get a couple of Dry fit polos Khaki, white, or blue XL or XXL depending on cut.

A couple of dry fit tees too.

baldguy
Jul 29 2008, 09:49 PM
I think the polos are going to run a little large, so an XL will probably work for you. I have every color on those links I sent you, but not in every size. If there's a request for a particular color/size combo that I don't have, I'll try to track one down tomorrow.

by "Sponsor" shirt, I just mean the style with the logo on the back as well. I'm doing all of the sponsor shirts that way, and all the tee-shirts. But the default polo print is just going to be on the front. This helps keep the costs down a few dollars plus a couple of people have requested a polo without the back printed. the sponsor style will have the back printed so if people like that style, I can print some that way in addition to the sponsor shirts

I'll post an exact list of what I have in a few minutes. a few are already spoken for.

baldguy
Jul 29 2008, 10:17 PM
okay, here's what I have right now but I will be picking up a few more tomorrow depending on who else wants one:

(see the previously posted sites for color approximation... they look better in person :) )

<u>2 tone dry fit Polo</u>
Black w/ Green (white ink) - 1 L
Navy w/ White (white ink) - 1 L
Sky Blue w/ Navy (white ink) - 1 L
Khaki w/ White (white ink) 1 M, 2 L, 1XL
Orange w/ White (white ink) 1M, 1L, 1XL

<u>Solid (black accents on sleeves) dry fit Polo</u>
Red (black ink) - 1 XL
Green (black ink) 1 M, 1L, 1 XL

<u>2-tone Starter Brand dry fit tee</u>
White w/ Grey (black ink) - 2 XL

<u>Solid Starter Brand dry fit tee</u>
Black (white ink) - 2 XL, 1 L

<u>Plain Cotton Tee</u>
Nothing in hand yet... will order a few with the printing order. All solids with contrasting white or black ink.

I also have some plain solids (L / XL) in Navy, Royal, Khaki and Red that I'm not planning to print unless someone speaks up and saves them from certain return-to-vendor. They have no accents but are dry-fit and good quality. They're also $25

I will get with those going to Worlds before they leave. Everyone else can come out next thursday or we'll get together soon after that.

There will be a golfer at CH named Robert Whiteman ...playing REC..already signed up

I can grab it from him. Are you not going to make it this weekend? Looks like a decent OMB/YGB showing so far, even without you but the more, the merrier :)

it's hot outside and GB gets boring (even backwards ;)). Maybe if we head up to the lake for a 6pm teeoff or something once in awhile, I dunno.

FWIW, the shirts that don't get spoken for here will go to Pensacola with Deidre and I for the Southern Nationals Am Championship (Aug 15-16) then the rest will be sold online. Reserve yours today

I'm with Josh on Thursdays, Smack talk doubles is great fun but when it is at greenbelt(hills and very little shade) and this hot, I'd rather go home and see my girl. Lake park on the other hand is too much fun and too close to my work for me to turn down.

More updates. Going to the printer in like 5 hours :)

Edit: Justin, I grabbed another Orange Large 2-tone, so that one is yours. That means the Navy is available again. I also picked up an Orange XXL that I added to the list. Again, these are running a bit big, so If you're on the fence between XL and XXL, I think an XL will fit. My XXL in Red is pretty big on me. I am saving an XL for myself that might fit better if I lose another 5 pounds before Pensacola :)

Justin Jones - L (Sponsor Polo (Navy/White Two Tone)

I'll pay i just want the print on back too.

Jul 30 2008, 12:27 PM
one more shirt update - I settled on the print design. The "Sponsor Shirts" will have a small TitleDISC basket logo on the left-chest, a Large one centered on the upper back, with "TitleDISC" printed below the basket. The rest of the 2-tones will have the same small logo on the front with "TitleDISC" printed underneath it, nothing on the back. The Solid tees will have the small logo on the left-chest, and the small "TitleDISC" centered under the collar on the back. All of the dry-fit tees will have "TitleDISC" centered on the chest with the large basket logo centered on the upper back. I think I'm going to have the other solid polos embroidered (maybe not right now... we'll see) and put the small basket logo on the left-chest and the small "TitleDISC" on the right sleeve.

I should have the printed shirts by Tuesday of next week. If I do embroidery... I dunno how long that will take.

those who have Firefox or any other standards-compliant browser (not silly Internet Explorer) can check out this link:

http://www.titledisc.com/files/TDshirts.xhtml

to see what I have left shirt-wise and to check and be 100% sure I have you marked down for the right shirts. These things are getting printed starting Friday, so I have very little time to hunt down more color/size combinations.

Oh, BTW - these shirts will debut a new logo for TitleDISC in addition to the Basket we debuted for the Rockwall event. Anyone who doesn't have a first-run titleDISC shirt is handicapping themselves by at least two strokes per round :)

wtg Rusty! You truly are the bearded sensi!

Manderson laid it down as well. Winning his division and smoking the ring of fire while we screamed his name at the top of our lungs.

My new Titledisc polo is uber-pimp.

glad you guys like the shirts :)

Happy to have Jay, Nate, PT, and Heidi all wearing TitleDISC gear at Worlds! Thanks also to those who bought shirts to help support the effort. This round is selling like crazy (partially because they're priced so cheap :)) so the next round isn't far off. Parker and Watts, I will make up some cotton tees just for you guys soon enough ;).

Cedar Hill was great, even in the heat. Rusco really knows how to give the players what they want. It's really not that hard... he shows up with great gear, a great attitude, and great payout. The players eat it up because it breeds a fun atmosphere. I wish all TDs could manage that... but needless to say I'm learning from the best. I hope you guys have just as much fun at my next few events as we all do at the DD ones :)

WHOA, you forgot to mention the GAYEST high five in the history of the world.
Mike wins ring of fire while being heckled endlessly and then proceeds to run over to Smitty yelling(more of a drunken slurr ) and basically whiffs on the weakest ghey high five ever in front of every one, in the middle of the circle. It was so bad I wanted to leave from embarrasment but it wouldn't have mattered because he rode with us. :o:oWOW.
Nice playing tho Mandy! :p

Aug 04 2008, 01:43 PM
i may have had the gayest high five, but the gayest putt came from bucky. after making it to the final three, bucky "laid up" on the next putt, sliding it up under the basket. the guy next to me asked what tool threw that putt, i just replied, "i, don't know him"

you also forgot to mention that i won that rof with a magic and won an additional $100 in merch! :D
