Golfing with an older man
A young man who was also an avid golfer found himself with a few hours to spare one afternoon. He figured if he hurried and played very fast, he could get in nine holes before he had to head home. Just as he was about to tee off an old gentleman shuffled onto the tee and asked if he could accompany the young man as he was golfing alone. Not being able to say no, he allowed the old gent to join him.

To his surprise the old man played fairly quickly. He didn't hit the ball far, but plodded along consistently and didn't waste much time. Finally, they reached the 9th fairway and the young man found himself with a tough shot. There was a large pine tree right in front of his ball - and directly between his ball and the green.

After several minutes of debating how to hit the shot the old man finally said, "You know, when I was your age I'd hit the ball right over that tree."

With that challenge placed before him, the youngster swung hard, hit the ball up, right smack into the top of the tree trunk and it thudded back on the ground not a foot from where it had originally lay.

The old man offered one more comment, "Of course, when I was your age that pine tree was only three feet tall."

I want to have the tournament site (yes, it's getting its own site :D) up and ready to go before I open up registration. it's probably going to be another month, but the event isn't until Jun 1st so I think we're okay.

Hole #10 on the Coyote is now straight up and back further from the other placement..maybe 50-75 feet...still an achievable 3 but an errant drive is much harder to save par on now

Correct..if you walked to 10 around the long way (instead of doubling back across the bridge) it is about 1/2 way from the old basket and the trail to 10....fun and tough shot

about 12 of us went up the hill and launched about 50 discs off there during awards..awesome shot and we recovered the majority of them...we never stopped laughing up there and Julie was nice enough to watch them all come back to earth and keep people from getting nailed in the skull

We talked about starting our rounds out there next time (with some junk plastic :) )

I didn't have my bag up there with me and PT had already gone through Todd's entire bag :) , but it didn't appear to be a really hard shot. If you flipped it too much it was mostly safe except for a few that found a smaller patch of water and a shot you didn't turn over and threw short would hyzer into the drink

Jay was the only forehand across and it was just off the edge in the muck...PT almost made on across the top of all the trees across the pond and another one close to hitting the turtle and also made a Aviar across

Before our final round started Mace almost aced the hole during the 2 minute warning and we had about a 1/2 dozen or so that would have been pretty easy birdie shots

I think Josh put 3 or 4 in the water and one on the side of the hill (hit a tree :) )

I was throwing Rocs (since they're easily replaced) and I didn't realize there was a R-&gt;L crosswind. I don't think the shot is all that hard but you do have to know what you're dealing with. Throw the right line and it should be pretty simple. If not for that crosswind, I think PT would have cleared the tops of those trees!

yeah it was brutal out there on Saturday but Sunday was quite pleasant. Honestly... Saturday was bad but not *that* bad. MJCO 2006 was wetter just not as cold :). Rain gear kept most of us dry and the mud washes off. It was a fun experience in spite of the weather.

My consolation is that i would have won intermediate, cashed in advance, didn't get dfl in open, beat my uncle danny for the very first time at disc golf, and had a good time. I was very disappointed and struggled with my game but I'm happy with my attitude. didn't get to down about anything. RARE stuff from me.

As for this weekend, i say somewhere local, CH and ZBoaz are kind of a drive, how about Rockwall? Its been hurting for over a month now...I don't think it is a bone injury, I am pretty sure its a muscle in my lower right back...Anytime I utilize a twisting motion (whether it be throwing a disc or cleaning myself), I feel sharp muscle pain. I have just been playing through the pain for over a month now.
