The floating crap game that is Zingles rolls into the new year this Sunday the 6th at Patapsco. We'll be going from the <font color="red">red </font> tees at 1000.

Same format as last year. All you have to put up to play is $5 and your disc reputation. Winner takes all. Most money won at the end of the year gets the coveted polo. I'll be styling in mine once the weather warms up. Come try and deny me back to back titles.

All dates/start times &amp; results will be posted here so the great unwashed (i.e. noted Nomad Choker Coach (http://www.pdga.com/tournament/playerstats.php?PDGANum=27883)) can be informed. I'll have the info for the coming weekends showdown posted here by noon each Friday. Check here after 1200 to know where the action is.

I'll try to roll this weekly as much as possible instead of the once a month we did last year.. Twice a month we'll play Patapsco, and then hit the other courses we rotated through last season.

Final 2007 standings were:
<font color="red"> Hawk: $70 </font>
Tripwire: $60
Flippyputt: $60
Buckethead: $45
Dan: $35
izink $35
Ski: $35
Metl: $30
Paul: $20
Susi: $10
Toad: $10

Final 2007 standings were:
Dan: $35

Unwashed ?

Looks like I beat the majority of Nomads in last years contest. This year I will have to beat all of them.

I am pretty sure I took 3 of 4 at the Calvert Ice Bowl, but it is a little hard to figure with out the official membership list ;).

I was thinking the same thing about this board.
1) It is the slowest board I read, sometimes I swear it is being hosted via dial-up.

2) It is the hardest board to read
a) I have never got favorite topics to work correctly
b) We need a way to configure "New to Me" so that you do not have to read 1000 posts from Affiliates which are not relevant.

3) It has more dead links /down time of any board I read
- It took three attempts to view "PDGA Affiliate Clubs" from the home page.
- I can still not view the "Maryland Nomads" list of threads!
- I had to reach this thread by linking to the last thread of the "Maryland Nomads" group, which is LAME!

4) Sadly ... I have actually gotten used to just pressing the back button and then pressing the button again to reach most pages/messages!!!!!

Rich ... PLEASE give Hawk a new Nomads thread on the md-discgolf board ... I am not sure I can take this board.

P.S. I want side bets on Rich waking up in time.

<font color="red"> It's Nomads vs. the Nomad Killer In Round One </font>

Coach Becker joined George, myself and fresh meat Eric out at Patapsco Sunday for a little throwdown from the <font color="red">reds. </font> Eric works for Comcast (booooooooooo!!!) but was an outstanding addition to the card nonetheless. He quickly grasped the concept of discing Nomads style and was in the full swing of vicious smack talk four holes into the round. We headed off to #10 with George looking for redemption for his one stroke 2007 series loss to Your Disc Golf Hero, and Coach looking to live up to his self proclaimed nickname and humiliating defeat in the 2007 finale. Eric was looking for a game with his Cyclone. (http://www.discraft.com/prod_cyclone_x.html)

Eric and I begin a battle for mediocrity and beyond with fours. Coach joins me in fouring #11 while Eric hacks his way to a six. Ahhh....a cushion! Eric follows this up with a six on #12 and for a brief moment the three of us almost feel bad for taking his $5. Then we look at each other and break into laughter. On #13 George finally trips up with a four, while I five and Eric takes a nine! Eric and I both four #14. George hits another landmine on #15 when I work him into a five. Eric fives #16 while George continues to stagger taking a four. He follows this up with another four on #17, while I five and Eric sixes. Eric also sixes #18 while I four it. Scores on the back were:

Coach: 28
Tripwire: 32
YDGH: 35 (yeah well I've already got a Champ polo /msgboard/images/graemlins/smirk.gif)
Eric: 49 (keeping it under 100 baby!)

Off to the front where it looks like a two man race. Can George reel in Dan? Well Dan mocks that thought by parking #1 with his Valk (http://www.innovadiscs.com/discs/championValkyrie.html) for the first deuce of the day! Eric takes a four. Tripwire makes a move as Dan and I four #2 while Eric cards his first seven of the day. George picks up two more on his fellow assassin on #3 with a three to Dan's five. (Hawk 4/Eric 5) On #4 Eric takes another five, but he's having a hell of a good time. On #5 George picks up another stroke as Dan takes a four. I also cough another four up, while Eric earns his first circle with a six. Eric fours #6. Clearly he's picking up pointers left and right! Oh wait he sixes #7...nevermind. I four. Dan and George have awkward drives. George executes an amazing approach right of the fairway and lands about 20' out. Dan also powers a great approach and lands 25' out. Dan makes his putt, George takes a four. On #8 I manage to turn the best drive into a four. Eric fives, and he's joined by Choke Becker. George threes. We close out #9...Eric fours. Scores on the front were:

Tripwire: 28 (60)
Coach: 32 (60)
Hawk: 32 (67)
Eric: 46 (95)

If it's Zingles...that means it's a playoff! Choke and Tripwire head off to #1 <font color="blue">blue.</font> It's routine drives and threes. On to #2. George drives dead center up the middle. Dan nearly matches his effort but ends up in some rough on the right side. (Of note should be the fact that the park has cut down the tree with the mando arrow) George yanks his approach way right leaving himself a 30' putt for three. Dan also botches his approach and is 35' out. Dan whiffs his putt. George steps up and...dagger...he nails it for the three and the win!

Current Zingles standings are:
Tripwire: $20

Next Sunday (the 13th) it's Rockburn at 1000. Come out and experience the excitement of the fly pad on #16.

<font color="blue"> "Why Don't We All Just Save Some Time and Give Me The Money Now?" </font>

And so Nomad Paul signed up to play Zingles this morning. Also in attendence was your host <font color="red">YDGH </font>, Nomad George, Nomad Jerman, Rochester Will &amp; Comcast Eric. Avoiding herd disc we split up into threesomes and played #12 from the original tee to the wildly popular Oxen Ho, and #18 to the long basket. Our leisurely early round came to a sobering bump in the road when we realized the Rockburn Crue (and assorted house guests) were having a work morning. Fortunately we and they managed to avoid each other and the boys actually did make some marked improvements to the tee areas. Off to the front...

No one pars #1. Eric is the bottom feeder with a six. Paul deuces #2 while Will 4's and Eric 5's. Jerry and Paul 4 #3, while Eric and Will five it. George, Jerry and Eric four #4. Will gets the lone four on #5. I deuce #6 by ThunderBirding down to the long pin and making a 20' putt. George, Jerry and Will four while Eric fives. In a shocking development Eric and Will tie for the win on #7 with three's while Paul and I four, and Jerry and George take fives. I bungle my way to a four on #8, but I can count on Eric to bail me out with a five. Thanks buddy! Paul and I split the win on #9, while Jerry is second with a four, George and Will take fives (though Will's has a sharp looking circle around his) and Eric assumes his customary position with a six. Scores on the front were:

Paul: 29
Hawk: 29
Tripwire: 34
Jerman: 35
Will: 36
Eric: 42

Onward to my nemesis...holes 10-13. Jerry and I four, George and Will five, Eric continues his theme of sixness. On #11 Paul and Eric four while I three putt my way to a five...on the A pin! On Oxen Ho; which he violently voted against playing, Paul is low man with a five. George and I six it. Jerry and Eric eat sevens and Will feasts on a big fat nine! Now that's some sweet action!!! On #13 Will trims five strokes off his previous effort and takes a four as does Eric. 14 sees Will take a four while Jerry and I stumble with fives and Eric completes the 747 on his card. My card all clear the creek on 15 though I still manage to take a four. Meanwhile Eric beats Paul and Will with his own four while his playing partners apparently splashed down for matching circle fives. Paul continues his brief bumpy ride on #16 with a four, which I match, but Jerry betters that with a five. The gentle turnover of 17 got the better of Jerry and Will who foured it, while Eric takes a five. Finally it's #18 where Paul is the lone three, Jerry fours, I five, and Eric, George and Will go satanic with sixes. Will's is circled which I wonder means he lost a disc? Scores on the back were:

Paul: 33 (62)
Tripwire: 35 (69)
Jerman: 38 (73)
Hawk: 39 (68)
Will: 43 (79)
Eric: 48 (90)

Current Zingles standings are:
Paul: $30
Tripwire: $20

And the race is on. Next Sunday (the 20th) at 10:00 it's 27 holes of Seneca action from the long tees. Tell your friend.

will had an "unplayable" lie, though i think he wasn't being very macho and was afraid of giving a little blood. make note of this for any future nomad app.

i admire your tact for sticking me with the two most likely to hack it up out there, but you're going to have to do better than that. ;) they're combined 45 more shots than me made for a little bit of waiting. :p

That is very Nomadic of you.

I was going to start a poll this week "How long will Hawk last on the PDGA board?". However, he did not even last long enough to start the poll :D.

Perhaps the funniest thing is that the Nomads (http://www.marylandnomads.com/) board has been reduced to an Advertising Site.

1) I don't want to be a Nomad, I just enjoy defeating them every chance I get. The Zingles series is a great place to go heads up with the Nomads; however, if Hawk can not figure out a public solution to the invites, then I will not attend.

2) It is true that given the PDGA average of the Nomads, you could really use some better players ;)! I am guessing JG will put together a Team Stick, so I doubt he will play for the Nomads in the MTM. (http://www.md-discgolf.com/viewtopic.php?t=1462)

3) I am hoping to pull together a Middletown/Walkersville team for the MTM, so I would not play for the Nomads anyway.

4) Submitting an application that would get one accepted to the Nomads is pretty much impossible ... The PDGA and Maryland (http://www.md-discgolf.com/) board policies would prohibit any application that is worthy enough for membership.

Mike and Toad were man enough to face off for a Tag match from the Blues. They were smacked down handily.

If only some guy named Jim didn't take the card.

Dick slapped down two hole poles on the ground, and then fled the scene. However, the crew got them installed and we are good to go for the Punisher.

You heard I was coming on Saturday, so you had to switch it to Sunday?

Mike and Toad were man enough to face off for a Tag match from the Blues. They were smacked down handily.

If only some guy named Jim didn't take the card.

Dick slapped down two hole poles on the ground, and then fled the scene. However, the crew got them installed and we are good to go for the Punisher.

that's a terrible write up dtwo - no comedic value, it reads like jibber jabber and there is no real sense of the writer's voice coming thru...

here is an example of how it is to be done....

get up at 5 and slurp some freshly ground sumata whole bean coffee - two cups to make sure i make it all the way to sherando w/o dozing off, grab the gear and i'm in the car by 6:30...make a quick pit in manassas to drain the vein and get some fuel for the tank (lone wolfs signature special - a bacon egg n cheese bagel with hash browns and a large coke) - back in the car and it's smooth sailing out 66 to the great stephen's city golf mecca known as sherando...

the place is buzzing with players - who look like they are buzzing pdga "it's in the air" style /msgboard/images/graemlins/smirk.gif upon check in i shake hands with chains baily while giving a greeting from hawk gammon and get my $2 out for the ace pot.

do a little warm up with young ryan d and am feeling good about the round...check the cards i'm starting on hole 7 with 3 other members of the association and am about to head out when i get told i am to join the senior group as they need a 3rd - somehow i am the only one to get pull from the advanced am to join the old guys...

just as we are about to tee off the hail decides it wants to fall from the sky and bring in some nice winds as well...after a long and grueling round i walk away with a 66 after 20 holes - did i mention a guy named billy bob beats me and i am also beaten by a guy with one arm, that's right old guys with scary names and one missing an appendage...

i could not exit the course quick enough and get down to popeye's to refill the tank...

second round starts and as expected i am on the last card (out of 25) and the beatings continue - from longer tees i pull a 68 and don't wait around to see other saps get their payouts

but i had the most fun!

Makes you appreciate Patapsco; where the $2 fee keeps most of the riffraff away.

You could also bring it to Middletown ... Just a bunch of Frednecks there.

Negative. Last place and second to last place. The theory is that those players are so out of it they deserve some bone(s), whereas the first loser should get NOTHING but the shame of not winning.
