Checkout the December 2007 issue of Texas Parks and Wildlife, The Outdoor Magazine of Texas. The magazine is celebrating it’s 65th anniversary of great pictures and articles. Well, I was just paging through my magazine the other night looking at the pictures. Most of the times I’ve been to the places depicted. However, one of the main pictures in the December issue was a place that many of us here in Lubbock ‘live’. Yes, Mackenzie Park had a full page picture in the “Parting Shot” picture (page 64). I suspect that the picture was taken during one of last years ice storms (2007 February-ish, apx noon-ish). The photo was taken looking SW across the Brazos River. The ‘Cliff Shot’ deck for hole 11 is just out of view on the cliff behind the tree to the right. One of the hole 11 basket positions would be just to the left of the person taking the picture. Hole 10 tees from far left beyond the trees. The basket positioned for hole 10 (triple positions available) was about half way up the hill, somewhat beyond the tree to the right in the picture. Anyway, Mackenzie Park is beautiful in all of the seasons. Right now in early December the leaves have changed and are falling.
