Hey, someone told me that the Meld Trophy will be awarded this year for the very last time; whoever wins it gets to keep it forever. Is this true?

I have NOT heard this, nor read it.
I HAVE heard at least that, to be eligible to win the Meld a player must use only Glow discs during the second round. That said, bobber lights and other on-disc lighting is allowed during the evening.
As to permanent retirement of the Meld, nothing confirmed. Looks like glow discs will become relics of the past in a few years but I say keep playing for the Meld each year.

Thanks Guys it has been a goal of mine since 1999. I have been close in the past so it was great to win the Meld.
I want to thank A3 for the great job they do at every tournament. Also playing with Justin and Al was spectacular they are both great players. Let’s face it Al has won at least 8 times and is on the Meld 3 times so anytime you get lucky and beat Al it is a great day.
Thanks again to everyone who played and volunteered. Mystic Mills is a tournament everyone should play.

Add my name to the list of those offering congrats, Brooke. Nice shooting.
I've had kid piano recitals now on MM Saturday for the past 6 years at least. Maybe some year I'll be able to get back out and enjoy the full Mystic experience.
Disappointing turn out, indeed. Nothing like screw-you scheduling to make things difficult. It irks me to no end to know that well-meaning folks meet each year to come up with a decent and conflict-free schedule for the season, and yet its wasted effort when it gets trampled upon by those who arbitrarily add events to the mix late in the year. Calling such tactics disrespectful is an understatement. Blatant asinine behavior, imho. But hey, at least we've got a solid persona in mind for next year's Horses Patoot of the year award.

Well, I am not sure what you are talking about and I cannot t8hink of anything else that tou are referring to than Byron Big D Doubles. You are WAY off on your statement and you may wish to revise it since it is filled with some inaccuracies. It has been on the MDGO schedule since January of this year. If you are referring to the Singles the next day, it pulled only 20 players so, I doubt that affected the turnout of this event.

My bad on the schedule thing, Mark, sorry.
I'm sure Byron had nothing to do with the poor numbers. How could the two even be related. Bruce told me so himself.

It probably did affect it
HOWEVER
The MDGO which, A3 is a part, created the schedule for the 2007 season. Did the A3 Representative(s) voice their conecerns then? (I don't know I was not there). That would have been the time to do so, not after the events have taken place. Since that is the crux of your problem with the two events, I was just wondering...

I am the MDGO rep for A3!!! If you attend scheduling meeting you should already know unsanctioned events are not given conflict free status only sanctioned ones.
I see the byron on the jan 07 revolution of the schedule. Bruce could have chosen to step on somebody else he chose to step on mystic. so we could be crying here or somebody else could be crying. My JOB as MDGO rep is to report our schedule to Paul. I can attempt to resolve schedule conflicts if possible but i can't make other clubs change dates of events.
Those are my 2 cents.

As I said, I did not attend the meeting because at the time we were not a club.
Nor did I say that you or A3 could have stopped it from taking place. I only said that the time for making comments/complaints was then, but making them after the event does no good at all. Are people goign to listen to your concerns/complaints? Who knows???? At the meeting you can only hope to work with people within the state but, that is the time to let them and everyone else know about it.
Basically, what I was trying to say is that after-the-fact complaining is never going to accomplish anything.

Disc Golf is a wonderful sport and a zeal for the building of this sport is what I have!! If Byron had a course it would be great! If Byron had a club it would be even greater! If Byron had a disc golfer base to draw from it would be even greater yet! About the only thing we have when we set up the tournament on the golf course is Chainstars, other than that, we just try and run a tournament that we ourselves would like to play.
As far as stepping on somebody, that is so far from the truth! I suppose if it was the Northern Waters series in Traverse we would still be stepping on someone! Wow, all I want is to produce the sport of disc golf in my community, just as you do. Have you ever had tournaments that ran on the same day as someone else? I suggest that you not attempt a tourny on a golf course on the same day as someone else or you will be blamed for another tournament not filling! JM2C!

That's not exactly true. I get what you're saying and while it is true that the past cannot be changed, after-the-fact complaining has had some pretty big successes over the course of history. Its why we don't belong to England, for instance.
