Hey everybody! The USDGC point series is well on the way. Our second tournament in the series will be........ the Horseshoe Canyon Twisted Flyer Open! That's right, the guys bringing you the Oklahoma Open will be right here hosting the first ever sanctioned event at Horseshoe. How awesome is this? And with all the cool added stuff i've heard about, the leaves changin', this is a gift folks! Thank you Twisted Flyer. This is also an open invitation for everybody to thank a couple of guys, and their crew, who are taking disc golf and twisting up to another level. Come out and meet these guys in person, eat some good food, chill in one of the most beautiful settings within driving distance. It's time to play Horseshoe Canyon! :D

I reserved the teepee for the 10th. There is plenty of space for whoever wants to join the party. The rent is five bucks a head, payable to HSC (ten for Colin). I'm planning on making some good food and perhaps bust out the acoustic. Tarps to cover the floor would be a great idea, so would a disco ball. I'll be crashing in my van with a small heater so others may actually get some sleep. Maybe I'll bring a boom box and some dance music, and a plethora of pinatas, and perhaps a large pot of beans so it will be like blazing saddles..."Can I get some more beans Mr Taggart?" "Hell no you've had enough."
LarryQuinones
Oct 30 2007, 11:28 AM
Anyone may camp at the teepee who wants to join in for cheap. The door will be open to anyone who find themselves out in the cold. Also, if the cost of lodging is an issue, man up and join the party. It would be good if Joe Rotan's tourney is well attended because he is my hero. Well, not really. Not since that guy got zapped like a june bug at that John Kerry speech. Now that clown is my hero.

Nov 03 2007, 10:43 PM
Sorry Heath, and everybody else. It was on the flyer for Hell on the Border, if you missed that perhaps you were too busy to make it anyway. As far as the rest of the schedule goes, I'm looking for TDs. Found one today, as a matter of fact.
January
Febraury
March
April Northshore Invitational Wildcat Open
May State Championships
June Alma Greens
July Russleville
August
September Hell on the Border
October (no Eddy Bowl) (no texarkana)
November HCR
December
I would like to add Jacksonville, Clarksville, JB Hunt, and Branchwood tournaments to the list. With a couple more people who want to show their love for disc golf, we could have one helluva schedule, not to mention that any of these courses can host two events! This schedule is as strong as those who are willing to run these events. The level of excellence we have produced so far is waiting to be exceded. Running tournaments may seem a bit scary, and it is a lot of work... then at somepoint that evening after the tourny you realize your face hurts from smiling so much. Now is the time to make your place in history, these tournaments need TDs, this is a great chance for anyone to make something special for other disc golfers to enjoy. :D

Me and Mayo went and played the canyon today, I figured I should play it a couple times before the tourney since I've never played it before.
I see what all of the buzz is about that place, that was probably the most enjoyable couple of rounds of golf I've played in a while. The shots were cool, the scenery was great, and it was totally worth the drive.
My first time out i managed to shoot a 64, and the 2nd round I got it down to a 62. If I could putt worth a [censored] I could probably break into the high 50's. I banked a roc off of the boulder on 16 in from about 150, too bad it was a giggle. It was still cool because a bunch of climbers were watching and went ape sh it when it went in. We also both got in the circle on 18 and both missed the deuce putts. Didn't hit any animals today, but Mayo did drill a car on 15 hard as [censored].
I'll be practicing putting this week so this weekend you should see me in the 50's. I won't post Mayo's scores, I'll let him do that if he wants.

Those dont come out very often. I gotta save them for other BIG money shots. Kinda hurts the next day........
But i did throw one in the Finals in memphis yesterday that was well over 550. ya it was down hill :)
Im not sure If my girl will be willing to stay in a Tee Pee. Anyone have a cabin with a extra bed i could rent for a night. I will pitch in some cash for sure.

That place above is a few miles east of Horseshoe canyon ranch, and is actually in town in Jasper. So 5 minutes from the canyon isn't too bad.

Ouch, I actually checked that places website and they're a tad pricey. $90 a night, maybe you can talk them down and try to get some "winter rates" out of them, it is November.
BTW, TD's can we look forward to a pro final 9? I would love to witness Kyle and Kris putting a whooping on the G man.

Does our entry include the day use fees? Also will the road near 9, 10, 11 be ob? I assume so, but there isn't much of a defined line there so I assume rope or paint will be there if it is. Thanks Rotan and Watson for giving us another good time this year!! Seymore hope to see ya there!

Zach Asbury and I get there sometime on saturday, probably to late to play the tourny but enough time to get a round in, we are just going to camp up on the hill somewhere. Sorry Wookie you are out of luck in those ponds, but i could be bribed with $ to go get a disc or three.
Haven't found any discs in the lake recently, but i also haven't been out there lately so it could still be there, i might make it out sometime this week.

Well it is looking like a cold weekend. TP people need to bring some kind of floor covering (I'm bringing a rug),a small tent to set up inside, and all the cold weather gear you can find. Chuckles has the wood covered. I should have lots of AQ chicken. Whats more fun than freezing your nuts off after a day of canyon golf?

This is a E-mail I got from Horseshoe Caynon!!!
I just wanted everyone to know that I have re-designed the course. It runs the opposite way around the canyon now. Hole ones "T" is just above the old T-box for 18. You throw to the old basket placement of 16. I have played it, and I think its awsome.I think I have eliminated a little of the problem with campers. We will see. But, Alot of big downhill shots, alot of birdie opportunities and a 900 ft downhill shot on 14! The 18th hole ends up at the knob below the lodge. I hope to see you all soon.
