We've been glowing the past 2 weeks at HM after league on Wednesday. Is anyone setting up a glow league?

Also we are glowing late Friday night. PM me if you want to join us.

Does anyone have a thought on where to grab some of the LED lights? I've always used glo plastic in the past but without much luck. It's always hit or miss on what actually glows well and what will just well....fizzle out. Also, if there is going to be a glo league/night, I'll grab a bunch of empty disposable camera's for flashing discs. Walgreens across the street from my work was awesome last year, they gave me like 20 of them.

I hope you do not want any Discraft glow plastic. They stopped making it.

Thanks Mark, they certainly don't make 'em cheap though.

every now and then you might be able to find em at meijers or walmarts.
i went to gander mountain the other day and they had tons of em. i think that there is a gander in Novi.... or i would check out [censored] sporting goods in Howell. they have everything for fishing.

Who's sporting goods? Is that a personal attack?

in the bobber aisle...
the old ones were push/pull & thus easy to operate while taped in place
the newer ones seem to be going twist on/off, so with those I tape right over 'em with clear ductie from lowe's paint/tape aisle, packing tape okay until sub freezing temps
we try to go once a week somewhere 'round lansing here- gWoods closes the gate so its a poach, dewitt is a fun 2lap 9holer which goes quick so 4laps wasn't uncommon... met the po-po there once last yr, gave us the "closed after dark" talk but wasn't too chapped...
torn between asking for a night that its okay til 10 or so & then being denied or just keepin it a word of mouth poach...
prob be a tues/weds/thurs night thing though...
I thought a glow ice bowl would be fun twist on it, or of course a halloween thingy

will post here when we get things up and glowin'
(also thinkin of buyin bulk 1.5" green glowies and having 'em available 2fer a buck, maybe 3fer $2, makes money back to cover tape cost & is convienient for casual curious glowie n00bs)

OMG, I can't believe Dick's got censored. Phat chance of a Dick's Sporting Goods sponsorship now :p

Wait a minute, why didn't it censor my Dick's :D

Mark_Stephens
Oct 04 2007, 01:28 PM
Yep.. I just was at Gander Mountain for something else & I picked them up for $2.50 each.

1.5" Lightstick (Box of 50)
Code:1W
Quantity pricing as low as*. . .$8.00
here (http://extremeglow.com/Merchant4/merchant.mvc?Screen=CTGY&Category_Code=112)

the one inchers are a bit small IMO... yukyukyuk
green glowies are best and are fine in a dark park- much cheaper too- but ordering in bulk doesn't always getcha a color choice so beware the supercheapy deals with hard to see colors

that said Ive got about 10 LEDs and clear ductie in the bag ready to go...........

wow... thats insane! the ones i just bought from gander were 3.99 each. and yes, there are the ones that you simply pull or the ones you twist. i ended up buying 2 of each without realizing it (it does actually say it on th epackage though). the pull ones were kinda hard to pull, it needed to be done in a somewhat powerful forec. however, they were more likely to stay on when hitting something (groud/tree). the twisty ones liked to flicker on and off or even go out all together. i guess its all a matter of push/pull vs twist preference.

jHarr
Oct 04 2007, 03:16 PM
which is why I tape right over the twist-ons with clear tape in hopes they'll stay lit & just leave 'em on for the round... should still get 3 or 4 rounds each ideally

retaping isn't so bad to mess with now but come january its nice to not need to freeze digits
-I tape right on top dead center- press all the air out from around the stick to prevent air under....

/time for a daytime round in the summer weather now tho!!!!111

The Robb and Bobb's are push in and pull out to turn on/off. They are kinda hard to turn them on and off which I think is a good thing. I taped mine on the underside with some pasking tape and have not had a problem (yet).

personally, i'm a big fan of duct tape and leds from gander mnt.

I played glow with a kid that had one and it wasn't that sweet.

1.) Too bright. Not very clandestine for parks you're not supposed to bee in.
2.) Flippy like a lid. This kid didn't have much of an arm and he still could not do anything but flip it...

personally, i'm a big fan of duct tape and leds from gander mnt.

ditto
with the push/pull on/off they can last several rounds
but as the temps drop, your lesser tapes will fail...
hope to get somethin goin reliably here in lansing for a glo-league gathering of sorts, will post it up if it happens

grand woods does close to parking but actually being in there seems a gray area, we've parked outside and walked in to play no prob but we try to keep it dark&quiet...

Sep 15 2008, 10:09 PM
what is mystic meld

jHarr
Sep 15 2008, 10:54 PM
the meld is the trophy awarded to the winner of the a3 event "mystic mills", and as brook says, glow plastic is a mando to win the thing...

however it doesn't help you find discs covered in snow, I find LEDs are better for that...

brookep
Sep 16 2008, 03:49 PM
The Meld is awarded to the lowest score for the GLOW round only.
