This Saturday, September 22nd a Frisbee Picnic is being hosted by the Flying Aces Professional Frisbee Team at Carr Park in Manchester, Michigan.

You are invited.

So why are you invited? Who are the Flying Aces? Where is Manchester? Any free goodies? Any entertainment?

Brain Hayes, the head flying ace, runs a frisbee demonstration business. His company puts on frisbee demonstations for schools, companies and sporting events (half time shows, etc.) See flyingaces.com. So Brian does what we only dream of: he makes a living playing with discs. Brian is hosting the picnic as a way to get videotape of frisbee freestyling, footbagging, frisbee dogs and disc golf for his website to promote his business.

He wants disc golfers to attend to be audience members for the other disciplines and demonstrators for disc golf (presumably your freestyle, footbagging and frisbee dog skills are well below the levels of the world class talent he is assembling for the picnic, but feel free to give it a go if you think you have game).

So the video taping is set to begin at 3 pm. Arrive early for the warm up. Food and refreshments to follow. I, personally, will be refreshing during the warm up and during the performances but you may have far better restraint than I.

Please bring your disc golf bag. I have been authorized to create some Lizard games for prizes and cash-and-of course, to capture on video for the website.

Manchester is 25 minutes south west of Ann Arbor. From I-94 exit number 159 (M-52 South) to downtown Manchester. Go West on Main Street less than 1 mile to Carr Park. The back pavillion is ours for the day.

So to summarize: free food, free goodies, free entertainment, and a chance to have your skills captured on video. Please join us and bring your buddies, families and any hitchikers along the way.

I'd love to go, but I'll be at the Big House watching Penn State beat Michigan.

Why not have the demonstration at Rolling Hills County Park? There'd already be a huge base of disc golfers there to be interested! You're missing out :) Is there a reason that this is being hosted in Manchester, Mi other than the fact that they're based out of Manchester? I mean if its a part of some festival, nevermind, reach out to that potential new market!

But if its an event held just because, they're missing out big time by not going straight to a huge field of people that are already disc fanatics!

I'll be playing disc golf at Rolling Hills, but home in time to watch the thrilling end as M wins its NINTH game in a row over PSU. : )

Tired/Overplayed Jokes of the Week PRESENTS...
What kind of battery does it take to light up the Big House?

Actually, I have a decent grasp of the reality of the situation. I just wanted to remind Mr. Lion not to get too excited. Even if they win, there's a lot of catching up to do. Just like Tressel owns Lloyd even after M beats OSU this year. ;)

No no no I need to say the category before you answer the question...

And the category is... things that Michigan won't do in 2007.

Rob? *grin*

PSU would've won in 2005 if Lloyd "Crybaby" Carr hadn't thrown a tantrum and demanded more time be put on the clock. But, this is a disc golf board, so I'm not going to rant about football anymore.

Which means "my team sucks worse than Michigan, I'm not going to dig a bigger hole."

Well, I hope you enjoy the game regardless of the outcome. Should be a fine day. As I recall, you approved of Fiesta la Mexicana... ever tried Sabor Latino on main street in AA? Pretty good, also.

As for coaches and tantrums... that's what they do. I seem to recall JoePa engaging in an antic or too. : ) All in good fun, people.

Things that Michigan won't do in 2007?

Unfortunately, they will not go see the Tigers in a playoff game, I'm sorry to say.

Hey, I dig your vibe -- good times. :) Now let's get this thread back to disc sports. For those who don't have plans, follow the Lizard to Manchester this weekend.

Holy crap, I got old. The first time I can recall seeing Brian's crew was at Meridian Mall in Lansing during the undergrad days, about '79 or '80 in the last century of the last millenium. I believe they were the "Air Aces III" back then.

Just wanted to publicly acknowledge that I was wrong about the outcome of the football game and that Michigan does indeed OWN Penn State. Oh well, I had fun at the tailgate party, playing catch with an Ultrastar on the University golf course.

As long as you had a good time. I should have gone to the game myself, instead of going to Rolling Hills and pissing off the Lorax.
