If it's a MaceMan event will you play it? :D

Brian might be the vendor for the plastic. It might tie into his NTX series. That's all.

I will be the tournament official and Claydog and I will be running the event for the ADGA. Brian has been a friend of mine for a long time and as the years have come and gone I've often consulted him about things to do with the VPO and the club since I've been here from the beginning and throughout it's history and been a part of it all every year while he's been living the high life. (color me green)
He was here at the start and has talked up the event all over the country so I consider any input he has as valuable which is why I asked him to consider helping out personally this year and I was pleased that he was so willing.
There is a possibility that making the VPO a part of the NTS would enable us to solicit sponsorships more successfully since the money would be tax deductable and this may be the road we will begin to travel. We'll see, but in the mean time Brian has agreed to make himself accessible along with Maceman Gear to help us with the event and I personally can only see it helping us to grow in the future.

Thats cool.

And yes John I will play it. Played good enough to beat you last year.

Think we need to do some work on hole C, that was a krap shot last year. It used to be a hyzer over the trees and now it is a hope and pray hole.

my_hero
Sep 15 2007, 08:47 PM
For sure. My 2nd round was a 72, drove for an easy 65 but didn't hit anything outside of 15-20 feet. Just not conditioned for 48 holes in 1 day. :DThen, 2nd best round of the field in the championship layout but lost 2 spots alone in that silly 9000' final 9. :p :D

discgolfdog
Sep 15 2007, 10:25 PM
There will be no final nine this year. On Sunday you will play the championship course, (possibly modified from previous years) of 24 holes and then the tournament will be over, the keg tapped and the ace golf in the oaks will start soon after. How's that for a runon sentence. :o

Chris, there is a very real chance that we won't be playing the "C" hole this year. The proposal at the moment is to play "A", "B", and "F" holes ( old #1, #2, and #9 ) for a small loop and to use three new holes between #9 and #10 back in the trees. We think the players will find the new holes interesting and challenging. Should the weather become a problem, though, we would be forced to abandon the new holes, since they deal with the creek alot, and go back to using all six holes on the old front nine.

discgolfdog
Sep 16 2007, 08:37 AM
Also, they want to keep the pond area as natural as possible. That means no trimming trees or even the overgrowth. That kind of ruins hole c. Although it was always one of my favorite holes from the old course, I never liked the idea of having a temp. basket 20 feet off a busy road. It would be too easy for somebody to do a quick drive-by and swipe the target in the middle of the tournament.

cgflesner

I agree.

Can't wait for this tournament. No final 9 to knock me out of the top 4. Ready to rock it. :D

That sucks!

If it is a maceman event the ace should start around $700+. So what if you win the course championship? Who will get the free entry?

discgolfdog
Sep 17 2007, 04:53 PM
We are offering free entry to the VPO for the winner of the open division at the Club Championships on September 30th.
If and when we finalize with Mace on this, then you are correct, the ace pot will start at $737 before anybody enters.

I'm pretty sure only the Club Champ gets the entry. I don't think you can pass down the free entry fee to the next player. If i were to win it would be wasted. I am still looking for #5 though. CC in 2000, 01, 03, 05. Nolan was CC in 02, and 04. Pep got it in 06. Who will it be this year?

I say John is playing for the club. Kind of a $100 bet. If the out of shape jiggly dad wins, the cash goes to the tournament in his name. :D

Claydog and I met with Martin with the Parks Dept. today and although he said he would do his best, he didn't feel that the new holes could be approved. It's not certain yet, but if we can't play them he said he would let us do some clearing around holes "C" and "D" to make them more playable. In finishing I would like to thank the Arlington Parks Dept. for all the support they show us.

If that turns out to be the case, it is really a shame. The area behind 9 and 10 has real potential to turn into outstanding championship-caliber holes

It was too rushed last year with the final 9. This year is gona be sweet. Any word on the new holes?

discgolfdog
Oct 17 2007, 03:53 PM
They said no to the three holes we picked out, even just for the two days of the VPO. I'm not real happy about that. We are being penalized for the mistakes of others. They haven't shut the door completely though. We're looking at some other areas to set up three more holes. The temp. holes for VPO are out this year. They hace given permission to do some trimming on the entire course. We need to locate and mark all pin positions. I know 14 is covered in mud. If anyone can get out and do some trimming let me know. I'll tell you where to start.

discgolfdog
Oct 22 2007, 08:54 AM
We are having a morning of work on Saturday starting at 10:00 am. Just a couple hours so everybody has time to eat and make it out to Hamster Hill. We'll move most baskets then. There are some short holes we're not even going to bother with playing. (#6,16 and maybe not #5) The course has been way too easy the first round the last couple of years.
