Looking for some advice from folks who were there last year.
We weren't planning on going, but after Sheila won a berth last weekend, she's now intent on going to the finals, which is cool.
However, I do not have a berth yet.
(a) How well does one typically have to play to get one of those final 10 berth spots on Friday?
(b) In the "other" pool of 72 people who are neither in Am-1 or Pro, it looks like it filled last year, but did it fill with "berthers" or with a lot of last-minute "late fee" registrants?
Thanks for any insights. I'm supposed to make hotel reservations today and I am not thrilled about the possibility of spectating all weekend.

Aug 22 2007, 11:40 AM
(a) In the Pro pool, Wyngaard just payed an extra $10 or $20 (can't remember) and didn't even play the Q round because he didn't want to wear himself out. Jeff didn't have a problem with that.
(b) I don't know.

Aug 22 2007, 11:55 AM
Well, I just made our reservation at a B&B.
Looking at last year's registrations, I am guessing that getting into Am-1 or a Pro division should not be impossible, and I don't really care about the division.
Now I can start to get excited about the fun times. Haven't been there for the finals since, I think, 2003.
paerley
Aug 22 2007, 12:10 PM
Last year, there was still spaces come saturday morning. As far as how good you have to play on beast to get in, I'd say even should be right around the cut. I'd guess that most of the players that are able to consistently shoot better than that are already berthed. There are 10 spots guaranteed for the last chance qualifier, and assuming that those are all that are available (worst case scenario), I'd say it'd take a -5 (67) to have a good shot at getting in, depending on how many non berthed pros show up.

Best Moment of Sunday's Players Party:
Open State Champ Geoff Bennett blasts 10 year old Junior State Champ Mark Burnett in the face with a full cup of keg juice and says, "You had this coming. See you in 7 years."
Not sure if this is professional behavior but funny still. Hope all parties involved considered it a joke. :o:eek: :o:D

Chalk it up, two of the best rounds EVER and its by Am 2's!!!!
A non-member Matt Mayville and member Kevin Williamson shoot 1102 rated rounds!!
See for Yourself!! (http://www.pdga.com/tournament/tournament_results.php?TournID=6412&year=2007&incl udeRatings=1#Intermediate)
In fact, Michigan has the best Am 2's in the world! Only one of 43 Am 2's failed to shoot a 1000 rated round!!!!!

those 3rd rounds have to be wrong. my -1 on leviathon shorts cannot be 1065. they might have messed up and rated them from the longs...

Those leviathon rounds are definately wrong. I knew I shot the hot round but I don't deserve a 1102 round.
It is pretty cool to see beside my name though even if it is wrong.

Comment on ratings from TD Jeff Schwass:
"Can someone post on the PDGA board that the ratings are NOT correct?-
just got scores up and fixed the dupe pdga# problem to get them up- I
am going to add prize amounts and then get the pool play correct for
ratings but I dont have a post privilege to the pdga board-

Sunday in Ludington, just as the awards were beginning, I ended up passing out from dehydration or heat exhaustion. My "Izzone" (Tom Izzo) sunglasses fell off my head and someone stole them. They are green and silver. Dan has matching ones too. If anyone sees someone with them I would appreciate them back. It's not like I "lost" them, I passed out and someone picked them off the ground with all the ruccus. Please return them if you have them or if you see them please let me know! Thanks!
