I'm asuming you mean "days" not rounds

scottfaison
Jul 24 2007, 03:56 PM
Scott, you could have one round on the moon, one at Richlands, one at NECP and one in warehouse and I would still want to play. In all seriousness, I do not have a preference of courses because I play the events due to how they are run. I can see how some people would want a entire event at one place or the other. Maybe one solution is on odd number years have the events like you have been doing (2 rounds at one place followed by 2 rounds at the other) and then on even number years have all four rounds at one place.
Example: 2007 is the same as it has been
2008 CPWO - 4 at NECP and then FDGC 4 rounds at Richlands

Just a thought, do what you want. I will play or sponsor any event that you run.

Sorry about that. I did in fact mean to say days.

with the am championship coming up in sept. going to be played entirely at J-ville i would keep the fall classic a cross town format. then maybe the winter open 4 rounds in j-ville for the start of the new year. that is my 2 pence

I vote for Scotty's idea! I don't want the Xtown event to go away, but I'd love to see a 4 round event held at either course simply to change it up a bit. With the alternate course across the road in J-ville, I think you could come up w/ a great 4 round event there. Still can't wait to check it out.

i enjoyed jvilles alt front nine alot, and would love to play four rounds there and would not miss it if that was the format for the tournaments, but the cross town format is fun too. i would not be as excited to play four rounds at richlands.

Why do you guys dislike Richlands so much? Is it the wind and all the out of bounds? Then you should learn to play more conserative and work on your accuracy. Of the 18 holes 9 of them can be birdied without having a big arm or being accurate. I to was a Richlands hater when I first started playing, but after playing it more and learning what it takes to shot a low score I love it. I my opinion Richlands on a windy can be almost as tuff a Castle Hayne or Kinston and I've played both them.

Personally I would like four rounds in Richlands in November and four rounds in J'ville in Feburary. And I dont dislike Richlands but it's definately not in my top ten favorite courses. It's a different kind of animal than most courses and presents a unique challenge.

Why do you guys dislike Richlands so much?

i don't think anyone on here has said they do not like richlands it is just not a favorite and here is why when you play castle hayne or kinston those courses have what you call shot selection when you play richlands let see here is how i play it
Hole 1 hyzer
hole 2 hyzer
hole 3 hyzer
hole 4 hyzer
hole 5 hyzer
hole 6 hyzer
do you see my point? it is a very redundent course

bgwvdave
Jul 26 2007, 03:30 PM
unless of course you are schwebby or joe noble and then it is
Hole 1 thumber
hole 2 thumber
hole 3 thumber
etc. etc. :D

nc_discgolfer
Jul 26 2007, 03:48 PM
And in just 10mph cross wind you will be OB. When its windy you'll need more then just hyzer. You'll need a thumber and a straight linedrive shot. Plus if it just as simple as you make it sound everyone including Int Am's would be -5 to -8 down.

For me its not that I don't like Richlands, it's just I like Jacksonville much more

nc_discgolfer
Jul 26 2007, 04:42 PM
Why? What makes Jville better then Richlands? To me Jville plays the same when wind or not. Richlands, when its windy will play much harder then if there is no wind. That is why Schweb in the '06 CPWO only shot a total of -5 for 2 rounds vs -27 for 2 rounds in 06 FDGC @ the same course(Richlands)

scottknapp
Jul 26 2007, 04:57 PM
I like Jacksonville better, because it seems to be more of a challenge. In my opinion, Dave is right about there not being much of a shot selection at Steed. But what I do like about Steed is the fact that there is a shot placement factor do to the OB. The trees at Richlands are growing, and you will have to eventually shoot something besides a hyzer. It may take a while though, but it is gonna happen on some of the holes out there.
Lets keep in mind that this isn't a "Which is better NECP or Steed?" thread. I WILL use both of the courses we have! I just wanna know what you guys think on how I should use them.

Right now, Scotty's idea weems to be the most intresting.

are you seriously trying to talk crap to me? look at your rating get above 900 then tell me how to play richlands. you asked why people do not like richlands i told you one reason. sorry buddy i will be at one of the greatest private courses in the state the Country Course sunday playing the Home Grown. look at my history at richlands i can't tell anyone how to play out there till i figure it out. but i will tell you one thing i got money on me beating you there any day anytime

bgwvdave
Jul 26 2007, 05:42 PM
And in just 10mph cross wind you will be OB.

i have played every PDGA Event held at richlands since i picked up a disc in 2005 i don't think i need you telling me about going OB i have had plenty of circles on my scorecard to know

Plus if it just as simple as you make it sound

read my post again where did i say it was simple? i didn't i just said that the majority of the shots are hyzers and as for your staightline shot if you want to throw a straight shot in a head wind you better learn to throw with hyzer.

bgwvdave
Jul 26 2007, 05:47 PM

one word TREES.
sorry guys it is a little slow at work and i am having fun with this one. i truley can't wait till September and another Knappy brand event! oh yeah i am prereged.

richlands is the perfect combination of boring yet challenging golf.

I tell you why I don't prefer it when it's windy. I missed 6 putts in a round and shot the second hottest and it wa slike 1030. Why? B/c I was throwing hyzers very accurate.

Sure, I played a very good round and did what you had to to score out there. However, I feel Richlands at times over emphasizes one shot and diminishes the importance of a full arsenal of shots and skills.

Dave,
The thing you quoted from me..."trying to be a solution and not another question (problem)" is something I learned years ago. It is how I try and approach things. It was in no way any type of shot at anyone or an insult. Just I have been involved in too many things were a group of people will stand around and list all the problems with something but not one person ever offers a solution. I am sure you run into that with work :)
As for what you were saying on the thread, say what you want. I understand it being a slow day or the need to have fun. I also know how this board works and things sometimes get a little out of wack. Nothing but love for my DEP's.

Sorry Scott, the thread can now be back about how you are going to run another sweet Knappy Brand event.

bgwvdave
Jul 27 2007, 11:47 AM
wow this thread has turned way to serious. i am setting the record straight on my end and i am done.
1) the ? mark was a joke scotty (although i guess not a very funny one) it did not imply any perceived poke or prod at me. even if it was i am secure enough to not take it personal or care. I don't ever have to deal with what you are talking about at my job but i am super lucky in that respect.
2) i already appoligized for the thread drift once my thoughts on the subject asked are on the first page. you know trying to be part of the solution not the problem.

Peace!!

any word on the format?

the schedule shows both towns, so im asuming we are playing both courses.

I just hope that if we play the alts that we get to play the front 9 once. I REALLY missed playing it last February and I know lots of other people said the same.

No matter what, looking forward the Knapp stretch (FDC, One Moe, CPWO).

scottknapp
Sep 16 2007, 07:54 AM
Both courses. Layout used undecided. I am not a big fan of the original front, due to 4 or 5 folks on each hole = congestion.

MTL21676
Sep 16 2007, 09:55 AM
I understand totally. I just missing hole 1 (best hole on the course), hole 3, and hole 9 when we don't play the front.

scottknapp
Sep 16 2007, 06:41 PM
Probably not gonna use tha alt 9. We had a basket stolen form over there today. These are borrowed baskets from disc golfers that we cant afford to replace. Sorry no more alt 9 at J'ville until it becomes perminant.

wow that is absolute crap!!

whose basket got stolen? I'd love to start a collection to replace it.

scottknapp
Sep 17 2007, 08:19 AM
The basket belonged to Kevin Charlton. Donnie, Goof, Chad, and Mitchell thought it would be a good idea to walk in the woods back there and see if they could find it. Sure enough they found the top, chains, and basket thrown in the woods. Still no base or pole though.
