Saturday & Sunday | May 26 & 27

Just short of two weeks away and we have close to 70 pre-registered. (http://www.pdga.com/tournament/tournament_results.php?TournID=6344)

Four different courses over the span of two days is pretty sweet. The prices are very reasonable for a PDGA B-Tier. In fact, comparing these prices to many other A and B tiers you will find we are offering more golf for your dollar than most of the events out there. I'm excited to have a huge Advanced field as well as other fun stuff like a flymart on Saturday night at the host hotel. There will be special incentives for showing up to that.

We also are working on raffling a 'Holsten' basket. Everyone out there knows these are some of the nicest baskets on the planet so look for more details on that.

Please feel free to register quickly and easily online using Take Flight Today (http://www.takeflighttoday.com/product_info.php?cPath=24&products_id=108) or save a few bucks and download the flyer (http://www.widiscsports.com/assets/gmoFlyer.pdf) and mail it in. In order to finalize pool assignments and make the event run more smoothly we want everyone to get registered by Thursday, May 24th (or be subject to the $10 late fee).

Our custom Innova order will be arriving in a few days so we will have plenty of product to choose from.

PS - Don't forget one of the best Am only events in the country is just the following weekend in Sussex. Mike Batka's Wham Bam Thank You Am (http://www.pdga.com/msgboard/showflat.php?Cat=0&Number=637210&an=0&page=0#Post6 37210) is just a few days after the GMO. Come to the Milwaukee area for the GMO then practice Sussex on Monday. Show up a few days later for Mike's event and win that one too!

Ryan,

In case you missed it here is what I said on another post. (http://www.pdga.com/msgboard/showflat.php?Cat=0&Number=691390)

I'd practice driving, putting, and approaching for all events because then you can't go wrong.

I'm working on getting some Flypads for the event. Specifically Randy Shukar's. He has agreed to let us use them for GMO and Worlds for the extra 9 holes at Dretzka. This will be VERY nice for the temp 9 that are accompanying the new 9 at Dretzka (which already have concrete tees).

Can anyone help out the event(s) by transporting them? It would take a serious truck to bring them down because they weigh nearly 1000 lbs. I'm willing to sponsor someone's entry fee if they were able to bring them to the event.

I don't think someone from here will necessarily go up just to get them but maybe you are running around the State or maybe you know someone coming down from up there next weekend. Just throwing it out there.

PS - I believe we'd just keep them in Milwaukee until after Am Worlds so I'd worry about returning them.

5 more registrations (http://www.pdga.com/tournament/tournament_results.php?TournID=6344) came in so far today! We are up and over 80!

I also received the discs for the event. The stamp looks pretty good as it was put on mainly DX and Star but also a few Champion as well.

So far I can say the same thing for today: 5 more registrations (http://www.pdga.com/tournament/tournament_results.php?TournID=6344) on 5/18 and the day isn't over! We are just shy of 90 and I hope we get there by tonight.

Up to 96 people pre-registered (http://www.pdga.com/tournament/tournament_results.php?TournID=6344) and that doesn't even count the two dozen that have said, "The check is in the mail" or "I'll catch you at league this week."

Mail is still cool but just remember that if you are handing it to my anytime after Thursday then you will be incurring the late fee. I've been advertising for this event for quite a while now so there is no excuse to not print out your entry form and get it in the mail tomorrow!

The advanced division is steadily growing. One entire pool to themselves right now and we have a cap of 72 per pool.

You don't want to miss this chance to play 4 Beautiful courses in Milwaukee County, Wisconsin!!

These courses will work the player inside of you!! You definitely will not be disappointed; these are top premier courses in this state.

Brown Deer Park....Just outstanding!!! (Remember they use to have the PGA Tour GMO regular golf event at the golf course just next to the disc golf course....!!!) Be ready!!! oh....Be ready to play this Cadillac of courses!!!

Dretzka Park #1.....What can I say?? Well this is a sleeper of a course....it acts like a Cadillac course and will be one of the top courses that will see some cards changing regularly.

Dretzka Park #2 What can I say?? Read Dretzka Park #1 Awesome addition to the park and disc golf world!!

Dineen Park......For starters this course is on a old 9 hole BALL GOLF course!!! Scenic and level play challenge that will see scores shift possibly...!!

That's my view so far of the courses just an outstanding job to my fellow GLDGC members and Team SWED members for helping out with these fine courses.

Thanks again Mark for the hard work with the county and parks!!

Just a reminder ... we are capping the pools at 72 each. That means that only the first 72 advanced players to pre-register will be in the C-Pool. The rest will be going into another pool.

Everything is still a numbers game right now. People keep asking about the pools and assignments but I can't nail too much down because of the (lack of) pre-registration. Help the event out and get signed up now.

I just updated pre-registration (http://www.pdga.com/tournament/tournament_results.php?TournID=6344) and we are up to 129. That means I took in 28 registrations just in the last 48 hours! I even had a refund in that mix.

Sorry that I missed it on the website but player's meeting is at 9:15 at Dretzka on Saturday morning - all divisions, all pools.

An e-mail to all registered players will come out in the next 24 hours. It will have even more event details.

I am wondering when the extra 9 temp holes will be set up. I believe I saw something about random draw doubles on friday night, but will the baskets be in then. I also planed on playing the course of friday but not playing doubles (if there actually is doubles) and i wanted to know if the course will still be open then?
Thanks

Sleepy,

It seems a little odd you are trying to register for this event. Just shy of 6 months ago you were on the message board trying to ruin this TD's reputation because of a first round pairing at a C-Tier. To paraphrase; you protested, you called him a fraud, and you said you would never play any events in the future that he ran.

You do know what you are doing here, right? Which is registering for the Greater Milwaukee Open which is a Terry Miller / Lifetime Disc Sports event?!?

I'm glad to hear Sleepy decided to join in!

Unfortunately, I can't get away for both days to participate, but I do plan on getting down later Saturday to say 'hello' and maybe check out the fly mart. Good luck to all and hope everyone enjoys the new courses and course improvements!

OH is he running it? Like you said it was over 6 months ago. I said my peace and it's water under the bridge. Of course I wanted to go to Iowa who wouldn't who was at '04 worlds. But finacially staying home is a lot better for me. And I know we had are differences but, as the rules states I can play any PDGA tourney unless I am suspended or it is a private course. I have elected to play as friends encouraged me to, All I did was ask since it has been over a week sinced I mailed it and still I have not had a response so I ask again politely, Terry did you receive my registration?

LATE FEE GOES INTO EFFECT IN EXACTLY 90 MINUTES

Get onto my site (http://www.takeflighttoday.com/product_info.php?cPath=24&products_id=108) to pre-register because the fees will go up by $10.

Anyone looking to pay at the park tomorrow or possibly even on Saturday will be subject to this. This was announced months ago so please don't call or show up and say ... "Well, do I really have to pay it?" or "Well, I didn't know I was coming until last night." or "I'm lazy and unorganized so can you let me slide on a posted rule?".

See everyone tomorrow!

Bravo Sleepy!!!!

I'm glad that after a LONG 6 months your playing in this tournament.

It is "water" under the bridge, and both of you voiced rather strong feelings towards each other, it was not a one way street. As you correctly said It's over! Done!

I respect you even more that you are playing than NOT ! There also is no room to be made for the "likes" of the "Jeff_LaG" of the world to deny you, me, and our disc golf community here in Milwaukee your many years of experience, knowledge, course help, and fellowship within this tournament and many more to come!!

If the "Jef_LaG's" of the world don't get it..........that's thier problem!

I support your decision.........and am glad you stayed home this weekend for this 2 day SHOOT OUT!!

Am Worlds Preview it certainly is! It's approximately 11:30 on Thursday night and we are sitting with 165 registered competitors. (http://www.pdga.com/tournament/tournament_results.php?TournID=6344) That means that I have registered 65 people since Monday! I sincerely dislike the procrastination but it is still good to see the numbers finally coming through.

Wow - 165 now so who knows where we might be in 24 or 36 hours from now. I have had at least a dozen people ask about registering at the park or on Saturday. They are subject to the late fee but they don't care - they want part of this insane 4 course action.

Four courses and approaching 200 people. I think I'm finally catching up to Shark in terms of work hours ;) What's his ticker at ... nearly 1000 hours in the past year?

Bring your portable Chainstar or Mach V to the course if you come tomorrow! Thanks.

I almost forgot to mention that two more hard core supporters came through big time tonight - Mike Schwieger and B-Roc went out and put down rubber mats that were graciously loaned to us from Randy Schukar. My supporters are what keep me going!

Hey Don Loper,

Here's what you may not get.

I don't know either of these two gentlemen and am coming at this as someone who has to deal with the slanderous statements posted on this message board. All I know is what was reported to me six months ago, and what I saw with my own eyes. I do not wish to have to address this again.

All I'm hoping for is that this is truly water under the bridge and over with. That is one thing we can agree on.

Boo ya!

Up to 172 (http://www.pdga.com/tournament/tournament_results.php?TournID=6344) as of right now (midnight on Friday night).

I don't know how many plan to show up at the park in the morning to still register but we certainly have no shortage of competition this weekend.

The size of the open pool is medium but the caliber is mini-Supertour with the likes of Schultz, Warren, Wield, Heeren, and Schwieger all present.

We also have a pretty large Advanced GrandMaster division which is exciting to see.

I'd like to send out a thanks to everyone that helped ESPECIALLY to my hardest workers, B-Roc, Singer, and Luke. Mike Ellery sure keeps working hard too and I hope that earns him some great course karma.

See you folks bright and early. Remember - I have Seal Skin socks for sale :)

SCORES ARE POSTED (http://www.pdga.com/tournament/tournament_results.php?TournID=6344&year=2007&incl udeRatings=1)

A few more walk ups this morning and we came in at total of 178 for the weekend.

I THINK I correctly updated the scores with relation to various rounds and various pools. Huge props to Matt Brock for getting the scores entered this evening.

About 60 Adv men are duking it out. For comparison sake you can take the A and C pools and swap them because they played opposite courses today.

One of my best friends, Mike Schwieger making some major waves by shooting lights out both rounds. Who will come out on top? Check back tomorrow for more GMO action.

The Am Worlds host hotel is currently hoping with dozens of people here enjoying FREE Woodchuck (http://www.woodchuck.com) hard cider! Tables and tables full of discs, Am Worlds merch, and other odds and ends.

Did I really sign up to be in charge for a whole week of this stuff?

Terry,

Thank you for such a well run tournament.

I had a great time and Nick had a great time beating up on me in the last round (697 rated round for a 259 rated DGer, that must be some sort of record).

(Long message to follow)
I do have a question/suggestion, however, for the World Ams regarding the Juniors. If we can have an official/adult who has an understanding of the rules, either as a scorekeeper or as a watchdog for potential rule misunderstandings.

I know for a fact that Nick lost a minimum of 3 (likely 5, if you include the retees) strokes over the weekend due to a lack of understanding of the rules within the members of the group he was in.

I explained to him that that was his fault/responsibility to know the rules. However, at 11 (even at 14), some of the small details off application to rules can be lost and or confusing..

I can explain more as far as the scenarios, as they were explained to me by both Nick and the other boys, in a PM later.
(/Long message)

Again, thank you for all your work and effort in putting in a great event.

The GMO is in the books. I have lots of notes for Am Worlds. In fact, I'll even post my review / notes on here sometime soon so others can see what feedback has been given.

The PDGA TD report has been finalized and submitted to the PDGA. It will be included in the next ratings update which is about a month or so away.

After looking at some numbers I did realize a few things.

The required payout for pro in a B-Tier is 110% to the Open and Female Pro Divisions and 100% required to the rest of the pro fields. The GMO paid out 124% to the Open field while paying 127% to the Women's Field. So overall, the pro event average came to 123%. Not too shabby. Please remember that the entry fee for the event was merely $60 if you mailed it in. You won't find a cheaper, 4 round, 2 day, B-tier anywhere else.

We had nearly the same percent on the Am side of things. 124% was the exact number. No where did I even attempt to take into account the free Woodchuck on Saturday night along with a handful of little ad ins that were just gratis to the players.

All in all I was pretty happy with how things turned out. Stay tuned for the post of opportunities and weaknesses because I will encourage thoughtful and constructive criticisms regarding this event and Am Worlds.

Now get off this darn site and go register for some upcoming events such as the Wham Bam, Fox Valley Open, and the Pickle Open.

Terry,

Will we be playing the long tees at dretzka and long placements on all courses for Worlds?

Josh

markpeterson
May 31 2007, 10:46 PM
Josh ,no no no no no no no no no no no. Am worlds means ams not pros. Young kids (9 years old) ,70 year old adults that would be 5 hour rounds. Everybody plays the same tees and pins because everybody wants a player rateing. Playing long tees and long pins only favors the biggest baggers. Shorter holes is a better set up for ams. A week after the ams go play the pro worlds to shoot 30 over . tell your freinds no long tees. It's been said twenty times already' no long tees . The courses are very hard for alot of pros and everybody who plays adv always wants to compare them selfs to the pros but they forget about the other 14 div that also play at the am worlds. There are 4 dif courses and 4 dif levels of diffuculty. Winning doesn't happen by luck or one hot round. Good luck Shark
