I'll bring some ctp's out there.

Hey Ray, we should try to set up some of the alternate holes that we will use in the CVS Finals. I was thinking: (1)Catcher's mitt, (2)up the hill to the boat launch with a new pad past the catcher's mitt, and (3)boat launch to stop sign and (4) 6.5.

Maybe in January we can get across the street from hole 5 and set those up again with a little twist from last time. Probably a little longer on those. The first few seemed a little too short.

Dec 24 2009, 10:29 AM
I just saw this on the news too. 6 vehicles have been shot at over the last 3 days. Thankfully nobody has been injured. Police say the vehicle has been described as a white sedan. It has happened on Hwy 12 and Hwy 26 West of Valley Springs. This person is shooting vehicles as he drives by in the opposite direction. I don't know whether to cancel this month or not. I do not want any one of you disc golfers to get hurt. Let me know what y'all think.

Dec 28 2009, 11:54 AM
What a crazy day!! Thanks Kenny for helping me get everything organized!! 43 players showed up for a hopeful early New Years fill my pocket full of ACE money. The weather was cool and overcast. 24 holes were played and amazingly no aces. -10 from Chris Bates took the golden anchor. Cap'n Sapp in 2nd with an -8, Brett Bunnell & Zach Taylor tied at -6 and Kenny Lee and Cory Vale tied at -5. Handicap winners were 1st Chris Bates, 2nd Dog, 3rd Josh, 4th Tony C. , 5th Kenny Lee, 6th Slupecky, 7th Dave Avery. CTP on Hole #7 Cory Vale. I will be more prepared for next month's round because I did not expect this many golfers to show up at one time. Ace pot at $725.

The only thing that could have made Saturday crazier is if the sniper would have reared his ugly head. People were coming out of the woodwork for this monthly. It's just testament to how fun it is to play The Fid...and a big ace pot.
Great work out there on those tee pads, Ray.

I am so glad that that jackass did nothing to anybody. I just got done printing/cutting up 34 scorecards, new people were added to the handicap as well as handicaps and scores were adjusted and added to the page, AP $$ has been counted and hidden. I will take DOG'S advice and make all foursomes instead of trying to add and change cards, to confusing. I am looking forward to next month's rampage of golfers for a piece of some ACE POT cashola . I will do more tee pad work and contact the head ranger to talk about new pads and baskets. I will scout those extra holes on the West side of the course front nine, hopefully we can make the 5 holes in the 300'-500' range eh? I am having a KICK *** time running this monthly and hope to have an official club started next month for 2010. C'Yall sooner than later :-).

Dude, no apology necessary. It is what it is. The chances of it being hit are small compared to the chances of it not being hit. If it carries over to February, you might want to think about capping it. The word is spreading and you'll be printing a lot of scorecards.

Jan 22 2010, 11:24 AM
Looks like there will be a dry spell for the crew that goes to Hogan. Hopefully the dry spell for aces will also continue until February when cash will rain down on me when I hit the ace. I wish I wasn't going to miss the monthly at the Fid regardless of the ace pot. It's always been a highlight of the month for me. Good luck up there, just not too much!

After all of the torrential rains here in the foothills the past week "The Fid" was in good shape, the creek was flowing through holes 1-3 and added OB to the fun day. Only 3 of the pads were still holding water #1, #3 and #16. Pads #12, #15 and #17 that I worked on were in great shape. 30 players showed up to play 18 holes and take the $854 ace pot home with them on a very windy day. Scores reflected how windy it was with only two players shooting under par scores, great job KL -3 (January's 2010 Hogans Hero) and Chris Bates -1, four players tied at 4 over par. Dave Bear scored 1st in handicap, KL 2nd, Jen Smith 3rd and 4 players tied for 4th, 5th and 6th spots. Yours truly won the fundraiser CTP a DGA Shockwave, thank you Tyler for setting that up. It was another great day at "The Fid"!!! 10 of us played an afternoon round of double with myself and my partner Franklin scoring top $$ with an 8 down edging out Steve Leroy and Brett Burnell by a stroke, we enjoyed sunny skies and light winds. Then Dave, Jen and I had a HUGE feast at Good Friends Chinese Restraunt, a perfect way to end the day. CYA next month on February 27th.

Feb 26 2010, 01:56 PM
Should be just a little wet out there. I don't think it's gonna rain, but maybe just mist a little. Should be warm too.

Ray, do you want to set up some stuff on the east side? If not too wet, that is.

50 Fiddleneck bag tags have been ordered. They won't get done in time for tomorrow, so I think we should keep them in check until the next monthly. They are pretty sweet. They're diamond shaped; just like the rattlesnake on them. They kinda remind me of hole 12. Wally did a bang-up job on the design.

March's monthly (27th) coincides with the NorCal Feather River Open which I semi-plan to attend, so I better hit the ace this month.

Feb 28 2010, 04:07 PM
55 droogs and 7 deer sloshed and trudged through 20 holes of serenity yesterday on the peninsula (Latin for "almost an island") known as Fiddleneck. 12 hundred ace bucks didn't stand in the way of 2 young flingers. Shane Robinson hit the first one with about half the holes left. I heard that familiar singing of the basket from the collision of plastic on chains, turned around and saw a blue buzzz sitting precariously in hole 13; and now it was all about splitting that ace. With 3 holes to play Ryan Carroll unleashed a drive off of the top of hole 4 and 412 feet later, he was taking home nearly 600 shells. I signed his disc, but didn't even notice the make. ? Anyway -6 won it...some guy from OV. I took 2nd with a -4 (stupid bogeys).
Gil spit thru the chains for the 2nd time...Doh!

The Delta Windjammers, with the assistance of Tyler Baskethound Sparks, raised over $100 for the stolen basket in Stockton...thanks a million to all that took part in the ctp. Stretch took those top honors with a tombstone thumber and won the Winterjam disc and the Vibram Open DVD, tee shirt, and mini.

Look for Fiddleneck bag tags soon.
Adios,
KL

How many are there? I'm just wondering if there will be any left. No $1,000 on the line but hogan has definately blossomed and gets a solid turnout regardless now. Gonna be in Bako that day so will I have to get one off Ray at the following monthly?

ioneca
Mar 22 2010, 10:26 AM
Kenny is in charge of tags.

pterodactyl
Mar 22 2010, 12:11 PM
You can pay for one as soon as you like; however, they won't be handed out until the round is over on Saturday the 27th. If you can't make The Fid, then you will get the next one of 50 that are leftover.

I'm keeping the tags until I get my initial investment back, then I'll turn them over to Ray for the rest of the monthly tourneys, with the profit going to the Chain Rattlers for future use.

Ray and I have decided to put 5 extra holes east of the course proper. They may be holes you've seen before or they may be totally differrent from what you expect. We try to surprise you. Pleaze don't take us for granted. We try our best. To get negative criticism just brings us down and makes us not want to pleaze.

The ace pot may be zero, but the enthusiasm is large out at The Fid. Bring it, fellas. 23 hol3s for the "anchor" will be amazing. I expect at least -10 to win it. No excuses. The weather will cooperate. Think outside the disc! KL

Welcome to The Fiddleneck Chain Rattlers Disc Golf Club! Officially started and inaugurated on Saturday March 27, 2010. THANK YOU Kenny Lee and Mike Wallace for the name and design of the club logo and awesome bag tags!!! What a shame only 12 golfers showed to play Saturdays event (0 $$ in the ace pot?). Sunny skies with 20mph winds and two extra holes made it a great day for disc golf. Kenny Lee took top honors and #1 bag tag with his -4, another Hogan notch on the belt. John Kitchen 2nd with a -2. Handicap winners Mike Wallace, Kenny Lee, John Kitchen and Jeremy Cole. Myself TMAC, Jim Reece and Mike Corbett decided to defend our tags and add a buck, buck, buck round to finish the day off. I somehow came alive and threw a -8 with no bogeys, Tim a -3, Mike a +1 (we gave him a -10 handicap), Jim a +4. I need to carry that game over to the CVS Finals this Saturday on April 3rd. Fiddleneck Chain Rattler Jim Reece will be in charge at next months monthly on April 24th. I will be in Auburn. Peace!

Apr 28 2010, 11:11 AM
Auburn's course is awesome and played tough. I just played like crap. 1st round +6 over par, 4 birdies, 4 bogeys, 3 double bogeys. 2nd round 11 over par (OUCH), 0 birdies, 4's, 5's and a 6 with a lost disc on Hole 9 (it was somehow found and returned to me on Sunday). 3rd round +8 over par with 2 birdies. My whole game was just off kilter, I am still trying to figure it out. I want to blame it on lack of practice. No more complaining, it just was not my weekend. I will try to pick up the pieces this Saturday in Somerset, Charlie's Winter Series Finals.

Played "The Fid" last Sunday. Grass is high all over the course, bring your gaiters! 17's fairway is covered by a carpet of yellow flowers, very cool. Dawg, JR and TMAC were top 3 in handicap. The 2nd round was practically a blur for me, it was so freaking hot! Out of 8 of us, Andy took top honors by shooting a -5. The Fid played very tough on Saturday. A cool morning start with a little wind, then half way through the round much faster sustained winds. Thank you Rangers for moving Hole #17 long, it was a welcomed surprise. 26 players finally showed up, we started after 9:30am. Only four of us managed an under par round after 20 holes. Augusts FIDDLENECK CHAMPION is Danny Corbett who took us with -5. I managed 2nd with a -3 and tied with a -2 was KL and Bretto. #1 handicapper was Dave Bear and 5 others tied for the rest of the cabbage. AP @ 325. We will start @ 9am on September 25th.

I have never played disc golf in such bad weather, and 20 other golfers came to endure it too. My gore-tex socks even gave up on me. Ten foot putts were scary. I don't know about anybody else but I still had a great time out at "The Fid". Hogans Hero Danny Corbett deserved "The Golden Anchor" with his stellar game of -6. James G. 2nd at +2 and Krash and Kramer @ +3. DC double dipped 1st HCP, Kramer 2nd, Krash 3rd, TMAC 4th. I shot a record +12 (for me and no birdies, also new record) adding half of those strokes on holes 16, 17, & 18 because the wind and rain was blowing so hard. Well I told everybody that I was going to move our singles round to the Fid this Sunday and nobody had a real problem with it, so I'll see you Saturday at Shady Oaks and then you can pay me for my ace on Sunday!

I'll decide Sunday morning if I'm going to The Fid or not. Kind of depends on how Saturday goes. I am on vacation for 3 cold weeks.

I thought the last monthly was crazy but this monthly on Sunday the 19th was "OFF THE HOOK"! 40mph winds with heavy downpours of rain. 14 golfers made the trip, only 11 finished. 13 were Modesto's finest and I was the Lone Ione Ca. Ranger. I was the 1st to arrive at Hogan at about 8am, one of Hogans Rangers stopped and asked me "Are you really going to play disc golf in this weather?" I replied yes and he laughed and shook his head. He said "have a great time!" I was really hoping that nobody would actually show up so I could go back home but then Bretto,Geoff, Davery, James G., John and Kenny Newton appeared and I knew this was going to be a Helluva Day! I started on Hole #6 with The Newton Brothers and #1 bag tag Windjammer Kramer. The weather throughout the round was just unbelievable, discs were flying all over the place and all I could do was "JUST LAUGH". There was absolutely no control of those discs. On Hole #17 the winds were from left to right and EVERYBODY was looking for their discs, Kenny Newton had the highest score of 13 on this hole. The highest overall score on the round was from Jim White who shot +34 which netted him an Innova shirt. I somehow scored a +7 to finish the 2010 year as Hogan's Hero, Bretto 2nd at +9, John Newton 3rd at +14. HCP WEINERS, J. Newton 1st, Dave Bear 2nd and myself 3rd. That was one crazy monthly. The next one is January 22nd at 9am.

19 new pin positions going in soon thanks to the welding work of Russ Adkins. He only charged us a twelvy of Sierra Nevada! That's the kind of volunteer work I love to see.
