Currently, spassland league was going to run on Mondays.
i would hate to stop that league as many new players enjoy playing that course. many people who play that, also play other leagues. Tuesday is a staple at dretzka, no change needed there. i like the idea of alternating courses, keeps it fresh.
what about brown deer on Thur?

We are planning on leagues on Thursday in Mukwonago this year starting in June. I and others that play there would be interested in playing Brown Deer also, soo I am for the alternating Dretzka and Brown Deer on Tuesdays for what ever my opinion is worth.

Doesn't Luke run a league at MukTown on Thurs.? Parkside runs one on Fridays. ValleyView on Wed. Dretska on Tuesday. Not many days to choose from.

I like the idea of Brown Deer on Monday and Dretzka on Tuesday. Two days of league after the weekend sounds GREAT!!! I'd rather play both courses once a week, instead of playing leagues at dretzka for 8-10 weeks in a row.
If your willing to run leagues two days in a row Mark, then that's Awesome!!! Thanks!

Since Spassland is more oriented for new players I don't thinka monday league at brown deer would drastically take away from that? However I might be wrong.
I like the monday brown deer, tuesday dretzka... I often cant make tuesday's at all so mondays would be great!

Too many leagues, not enough days.
Not every league is going to appeal to every player, but having 2 leagues within such a short drive might not be as good of an idea. Considering Mukwonago and brown deer are on different sides of town, doing brown deer thursday would make more sense, to me atleast, then having it on Monday when another league, granted its smaller, is going on a few miles away.
i guess its up to mr. peterson to make the call, since he is the one running the leagues.

I would be open to Monday Brown Deer Leagues and Tuesday Dretzka Leagues.
Yes there is so much disc golf and not enough days per week to complete that. It does suck!!!
My take is Brown Deer Course Leagues is a high caliber course and brings in higher caliber field of players.
Spassland is a Recreational Course that brings in beginners of all ages. Without courses like these some may never have a chance to play disc golf. It's in a perfect location for all ages to experience disc golf first hand without being intimidated. I believe Spassland Leagues won't suffer in attendance.
Just dropping in my 2 cents in the well......

This is a little bit off topic, but what time do leagues at tendick start on saturday. Also, I heard that there were going to be some leagues started lime kiln this year, dont know which day.
markpeterson
Apr 20 2007, 11:27 PM
Tendick in years past has gone off at 11:00 am on sat. Check Ozaukee Disc Golf Club link to be sure. Brown Deer and Spassland don't really attract the same type of players for leagues. Just like most Valley View players don't come out to Dretzka on Tuesdays. If people have to chose ,I'm OK with that. Choices is what I've been waiting for 4 twenty years now.

Speaking for those who have many other commitments I can only do Tue's. If you alternate between Brown Deer and Dretzka that leaves Monday's for Spassland and Wed for Valley View and Thurs for Muk...Tue is traditionally Milwaukee league night, my life revolves around MY Tue's evenings, and that could include Brown Deer. Thanks for putting this out there Shark, looking forward to getting the season started.

We are trying to organize which night we could have leagues at LKP in Grafton now..... it will depend on which night the horse shoe throwers are playing, as hole #6 is impacted. In the past we have had relatively small turnout at Lime Kiln, but hope that with more younger players taking the sport seriously in the area, we will have more players at leagues her.

Hey Charlie, I think it would be hard to increase the turn out at any 9 hole course. From what I've learned through the years people playing 9 hole couses are more rec players than competitive players. Your far enough from VV and Muk that I wouldn't wory about drawing from the same crowd. Just my opinion Mark

Maybe IF we get a good turn out sat at Dretzka and get done by noon we could run over to brown deer and finish that little bit of work there we could possibly put the baskets in and start league on the the 14th but I'll need more people with concrete experience at dretzka sat early (by 9:00 am) to finish 13 teepads and 20 anchors by noon. See ya sat. Shark

Spassland League is starting tonight. Like most leagues we will take registration from whenever we get there until around 5:45 or 6PM. Luke and I did a demonstration out there last week Tuesday and it was a little wet on a few holes. However, the recent warm weather and today's 80+ degrees will really help out.
We play 2 rounds of 9 and it's a really fun and relaxing atmosphere. Some claim the course is too short and easy but then don't even shoot double digits. We hope plenty of local kids and parents come check out their fun little neighborhood course. Spread the word.
If you have questions about the league you can contact myself or Luke Reed: 262.527.9592

Monday 6:00 tee times at Brown Deer , Same for Tuesday at Dretzka. I was thinking of having a different div play the new 9 twice at dretzka to get better spaceing. So every fourth week your div plays the new nine twice .Don't know if people would complain about ace pool, birdie club, ect. What do you think? Also how should those holes be #. The first one going south from the stop sign should be one but if you play 27 than jumping the road after 11 is the easy route. Any problems either way? Mark

Mark,
If the 9 new holes are going to be the only additions to the park for now I think having A1-A9 would be fine since they are now the new 9 alternate holes to the course.
We could always have a week where we play 20 holes. Play up to hole 11 then all 9 temps. What you think? I do agree with the spacing of the cards with using all 27 holes per div.

I'm ecstatic about the people that are coming out to both Spassland (on Mondays) and Valley View (on Wednesdays). Sure it may not be the 50, 60, or 80+ for attendance but everyone that shows up to those two leagues comes with one thing in mind - to truly and sincerely appreciate the game of disc golf.
People such as Mike and Loretta Ellery, Steve and Nick Enk, Paul and Tina Ludwikowski, Nolan Harp, and the entire Holms clan are really what keep me excited as a disc golf promoter. They all have a yearning to learn the game and to get better. They play 10 times more than I do because they log 7+ rounds per week and I remember when I used to do that. While doing this they are respectful and caring of their surroundings, the game, and others.
Another prime example is Henry Poth. A guy that has worked very hard on his game, traveled, and taken some advice here and there. Now he's consistently improving his rounds and recently moved up to the Open division at Valley View. Some say that course is too easy but if you aren't shooting -18 (or better) every round you play then apparently it's not 'too easy'.
Thanks again to everyone I mentioned plus the other 15 to 20 that regularly come out and take part. I think we had over a dozen juniors at Spassland last week. Mad props to B-Roc for helping keep that all going! Also, as many of you know, I can't say enough about how hard Luke works to promote the sport of disc golf - simply because he loves it and he's just that kinda guy.
Ter
PS - This might sound like I'm inferring something about others that aren't part of these leagues and honestly, I'm not. I am just applauding the awesome people that I do see week to week.

I agree with Mark. If Spassland is having their leagues on Mon. also thats fine. That league seems like its set up for newer players. I like the days that the leagues are on and if there are two leagues on the same day I think that's cool, too. Gives us a little variety. If you don't feel like playing leagues at one course you can play another.

No holes lost...at least not until next summer (if construction stays on track). Holes #1 and #2 will be lost permanently when it happens. Parking lot will replace the holes. Buildings are actually starting to look like buildings.
We should have the new nine holes installed quite soon. We're working on putting together a work day.

Sep 18 2007, 06:00 PM
The new nine holes will be east of Tallent Hall; Tallent Hall is east of Hole #4 (across the street). Once the holes are in we will post signage to their location.
They will separate of the current course. Unfortunately there really isn't any "continuance" from the new holes to the current course. A full 18 hole course is possible but I don't know if it's "permissible" in the near future.

I don't know about the masters thing, we'll see. I think I'm going to hit the reset botton on league. Some people won adv like 4 years ago have straight lined ever since. There were an average of 12 people in pro II last year. The winning score each week was -6 - -11. Some of the guys shot over par. So for all the regular players who come back this year, I'm going to seperate people by there average to try to make it more competitive. I was also thinking about giving the weekly winners 5 bonus points in addition to their regular points.Or maybe every week the winner gets (for ex) 20 points, 2nd gets 19 and so on. If there is more than 20 people abunch only get 1 point. This would reward the diehards who play in the bad weather or would insure a win is always worth the same amount of points.I hate it when there is a low turn out and someone wins and at the end of league a win is a low pointer and is thrown out. We'll see,it's always fun trying something new. Does anyone know what might have happened to the missing practice basket at Mukwonago? I stopped by there on my way back from Lustig (Janesville) just to see how wet it is and saw that the practice basket, sleeve and concrete are all missing!
Also for those that don't already know, the parks dept down there put in a paved walking trail that winds right through the disc golf course. It went in late last fall and now the course is wetter and muddier than ever since the asphalt dams up the water not letting it drain off towards the river. Also the fresh dirt that was used to grade off along side this trail is just mud now. Smart move parks department!!! Now someone could get clipped in the head by disc golfers throwing down fairways 2, 6, 7, 8, 9, 11, 18 and especially 13 where the trail runs right down the fairway. Oh what palnning!!

For what it's worth ... the Valley View Leagues are still scheduled to start back up on Wednesday, April 9th. 5 to 6 will be check in and then we'll get started by 6:15.
I met with the parks department last week to discuss getting 18 new tee signs and a new basket to replace the stolen one. If you have a great connection to creating some type of tee sign solution let me know and I'd like to work with you.
I believe the parks department will put the baskets in late this week or early next week. I'll keep you posted.

OK,lets try something new, league will be on Thursday nights, not Wed. Thursday May 15th, 6:00 will be the first night. If anyone has any suggestions, thoughts, or ideas on how to make league more competitive, fun, on just better I'm always open to suggestions. A 10 week league and you keep your 8 best point totals for trophies. That means you can miss 2 weeks and have as good a chance as people who play every week. League is 6.00 bucks. $1.00 from every player goes to the course/new course fund, $1.00 goes to the club ( usually all club funds go towards baskets) and the rest is in cash and prizes to weekly winners.See you there. Stay tuned here to find out EXACTLY when BDP and Dretzka park will be opening. Thanks, Shark

Hopefully next Wed or so.Both courses are pretty wet still. There are alot of branches and trees that need to be cleaned up or picked up at both courses. I think I got the county to do some woodchipping at Brown Deer. There is a huge tree blocking the fairway on # 1. Until that gets cut up, that hole will be hard. The county will put the baskets in at Brown Deer, mid next week. I will put baskets in at Dretzka either next Tuesday or Wed in to tourny pin placements. Don't forget that the Thursday night Wales League will start May 15th for those that are not playing Brown Deer. It is a more open course BUT it does have a few holes where water can make it interesting. There is always an alternative to going across the ponds(2 of them) or you can go for it. It is a nice 18 hole course with distances ranging from 186 feet to 425 so we have something for everyone.

Wales course still has large volumes of water over the banks of the back pond and now another large clump of trees has pulled out by the roots blocking fairways. Holes 12 and 13 are unplayable. I spoke to the parks guys this morning but they have much more pressing issues to worry about, so please just play the front 9 for now!
The Thursday league will be doing just that until the conditions improve.
Also, just a note about mukwonago's course. As of Late Tuesday it was still closed by park department and police orders due to the issues with the Mukwonago River dam possibly failing and the dangers involved. Please respect their decision and play elsewhere for now, to say nothing of the damage you would do to the course with all the muddy conditions.
