We play every Saturday @ 10 a.m. We usually go to Wed. Nites as soon as daylight saving's time hits, but the park doesn't stay open long enought. We will begin Wed. nite weeklies as soon as the park stays open til 7 next month. It will be 18 only, no extra holes due to time constraints. Until then, it's Stockton at 10 a.m. on Saturay. However, every 4th Saturday it's Fiddleneck @ New Hogan Dam. Every 4th Saturday. Every 4th Saturday...every 4th saturday.....can I say it enough times?

Congratulations! Good job getting the DWs affiliated. I'm sending the Modesto ace pool up to the "fid" with Dave and Jennifer. I hope that lures a few more players for the weekly up there. I can't make it this Sat., but we will have our singles weekly the next day at 2pm. See you there.

We are on WEDNESDAY nights now.
May 9th: We will play doubles and start at 5:15
May 16th: We will play singles and start at 5:30.
And of course we will always play Fiddleneck on the 4th Saturday of every month (check for holiday conflicts and schedule changes). These problems usually occur around Thxgiving, Christmas, and New Years.
Ace pot is around 180 points. KL out

Last night was a scheduled doubles round, but we tried something different. Everyone played as "odd man" or "cali" for you non-Californians. Everybody dug it. And the scores weren't as low as I thought they might be. Zach Taylor finally played up to his potential and took the grand prize...sucka!

Ace pot is 183.
Here's a schedule for the next 3 weeks:
Wednesday night: Singles @ 4:30
Saturday: At Hogan. Extra holes...singles with blind doubles. Probably extra holes. 10ish
Halloween: Singles: 3-somes. We will be playing 18 holes. 16-17, 6-7 without a mando, the haunted hole(only played once before...and aced incredibly), and haunted hole to 7. 4:30
This will be the last Wednesday weekly of the year !

If you want to post on there before your name shows up, you can log in as some obscure windjammer. Your password is password until you change it and a lot of the players that don't go to the site never changed their passwords. Just identify yourself in the message and all will be cool. KL

Perry and I totally dominated the competition last night to win the weekly doubles.
In other club news. The parks dept. has 5 or 6 of our old tee pads in their yard and were getting ready to bust them up. RJ got wind of this and contacted me about it. After the round last night RJ and I walked the course looking for some alternate areas for the lost tee pads. We picked our spots, but now have to wait for the big wigs to decide whether or not we can place them. It would be awesome for the course to get these additional tee pads in the ground.
Teemac
May 15 2008, 10:53 AM
Nice to hear about your BDSM, but how was your round of disc golf? :D About those tee pads. Did you give any thought to enlarging some of the existing ones such as hole 3 and 9?
pterodactyl
May 15 2008, 07:14 PM
Hole #3's pad doesn't need lengthened, it needs to be leveled. Not a priority for the new pads. We do plan to enlarge #4, however. We want one lengthwise across the back where the mud collects. Also, some others: 18 tee 100 feet west of old one. Throw between the 2 big trees. Makes it possible to lengthen 17. Another: 10 by the club sign. It makes the holes longer and is good for promotional advertisement. 9 further back and away from the lake for safety issues with fisherpeople.
There's no guarantee that it is going to happen, but if it does, they only want to do one per month due to lack of manpower. King's X, baby.

As the president of a disc club I have to make decisions that not everyone agrees with. Jeremy, you should be glad that we, as disc golfers, have numerous options in which to choose from when deciding where to play each day.
You can get a tag later and challenge me any time you want. Just because you decide to not be in Stockton for the IPO is something I can't control. I couldn't get to OV when they had their distribution round. I certainly didn't call final9 and tell them they were lame for having it on that date. There are a lot of clubs and when you belong to more than one, you are going to run into scheduling binds. No worries, people. There will be plenty of "good" bag tags left.

Does this mean I shouldn't expect any Stocktonians at the Ace Race? That's too bad.
Does this mean I should expect less Stoctonians at the weekly? As far as I know, Paul and Johnny Jagger are the only guys planning to play your event. Do I care? No
I guess the only difference is that I'm $1250 out of pocket to run the Ace Race.
Last year only one or two Windjammers made it to the Ace Race. But when I buy 60 player's packages I need to draw from all over the area just to break even.
I'll live.

First of all, I don't know anyone that was aware of you paying out-of-pocket to run your event. I presumed that Discraft put their product out there and you could return the unused. It doesn't matter.
After thinking about your $$ worries for a while I thought that you could just unload the rest by hosting another event in Stockton. You know these guys don't travel.
I talked up your event, but I can't make them go. Frank's party is the same weekend and I think that is going to keep people from travelling as well.

Kenny, I'm not trying to make this anyone else's problem but my own. It's just frustrating because of the crap that I have to deal with from the park troll. First, he called city sign enforcement because of the fliers, then he's telling people that I don't have a permit to have an event in the park and the city is shutting me down (this is untrue).
Because of all of these factors I've had to scratch the idea of feeding everyone (because I can't get a read on how many players I'll have).
If I get 25 more sign-ups I'll be fine. I'll have 10 packages left over and those will be easy to unload (but I can't send them to Discraft).

The new tags ROCK Kenny. In the 2nd round Shay drove on #4, it took a huge anhyzer and parked his disc by the small gazebo due north of Hole #5's pad. There were people sitting there and this old guy walks around and picks up Shay's disc and throws it into the garbage can, then walks back around the bench and sat down. He did not even look around to see where it came from. I was laughing so hard my cheeks still hurt. It was hilarious!

Who are you to tell me how to run this club? I've been running this club since before you even started playing.
Now you can't wait to play golf with us again because of your failed attempt to organize a Sat doubles in Mo-town.

I got the 2008 Worlds DVD and I am very disappointed with it. The legends & senior Grannies got ten times more coverage than the grandmasters. Hosfeld, Greenwell & that 4th place guy got a little coverage but nothing with Kenny except his name mentioned for third place. They could have at least showed that great drive on the 9th hole. Sweet par 3 and saw Hogans resident deer population of a dozen near Hole #4's pad. I am still pumped up, Hogan just ROCKS!

The ace pot is currently 401 and I'm itchin' to nail me some chains. :cool:I also have a Ken Climo signed X-Caliber for the next ace 300 feet or longer in a weekly.
As soon as this ace pot is hit, I will be stepping down from running the weeklies. Somebody else (or a group of Windjammers) are going to have to step up and take over the weeklies.
I plan to stay as President until the Frying Pan is completed, then also step down from that position and stay on only as the Chief Financial Officer and disc salesperson. I've built up our coffers and would like to keep a keen eye on our money. More later...

Apr 09 2009, 01:36 PM
That is too funny. I just missed 5 during the round.
Only 27 freaks showed up last night for our weekly. Josh Anthon and Josh Sappenfield were here for the fun. I haven't seen Sapp since he got the last ace in our weekly over 4 months ago. Someone please put me out of my misery. I have become soured, jaded, and sarcastic running the show for the last 200 or so weeklies. I need a permanent break from it. It's too much like my job that I do all day. I just can't listen to any more questions about when we are going to start or if it's singles or doubles. I can't listen to my phone ring any more. It's probably a player telling me to hold the weekly up for them because they are going to be late. Help me!!
Ace is around 650 if anyone wants to join us next Wednesday. Please sign in before 5 and bring the correct change unless you want to put another nail in my coffin.

33 discers made their appearances last night. Josh Anthon hits #5 with his first throw of the round. On his last 4 shots on this 295 foot hole, Josh hit chains once, basket once, and aced it twice. This hole will now be named Anthon #5. But it didn't stop there. Ryan also aces #5 for his first big money ace ever. They ended up sharing the 690 ace pool bucks so ending my mega-year reign of running the weekly. The weekly box has been officially passed off. Still not sure who's running it next week, but I think it's Krash. I'm free!

Last night, on the corner of I-5 and 8-mile road, two warrior doubles teams went toe-to-toe in what can only be called an epic battle of the ages. Lardog and Modesto Zach took on the formidable foes of Steve LeRoy and The Pterodactyl. It was a battle not unlike the skirmish that took place in the Illiad with Hector and Achilles. Billy had me by 3 with 4 to play. I birdied 10, 11, and 12 to get the margin down to one with one hole to play. Hole 13 was playing, I would say, the toughest out of all of the holes. 400 feet and hardly any fairway. I rolled one to within 50 feet and Billy threw a sidearm to about 75. He layed up. I had a 50 foot stradle against a big tree and had to throw over a branch. I hit the pan....game over...I lose, but not before Billy almost peed his pants from the drama. I played probably 1000-rated golf for the weekend, but it wasn't enough. It's probably the best I've played without winning.

Three others finished tied for 2nd at even. No aces were hit so now it's over a hunny.

I needed good luck at DeLa, but didn't get any. Thursday night I started coming down with a bug/fever. I was playing well on Friday anyway until my disc got into a wood pile on 19. After I threw my putt, I went to step down from the pile, the log rocked, and I was airborn. As I fell, flesh scraped from my shin, my forarm, elbow and tricep area. I spun in mid-air to avoid crushing my ribs, but landed on my back on a log. My spine was bruised and my game went to...
I kept playing though, but just didn't have my usual game. It was just one of those nightmare weekends and it couldn't have happened at a worse time at the best tourney in CA.
Currently, my cervical and lumbar spine are causing some major discomfort, my body is all scabbed up and I'm sick of sticking to the sheets. I'm not too ill anymore except for a cough, my ego is bruised, but I still have my pride and somehow cashed.
I still had fun hanging with the best players in the world...:)

Finnon Lake is a really fun but challenging course. The course is a Par 64 with 9 par 3's, 8 par 4's and 1 par 5. I managed a 65. I made some mistakes on some holes which cost me some strokes, I should have shot an easy -4. There were three divisions and 14 players, an amateur div., a masters div., and an open div. (which I played in). Bill Kohler took us with a -6 in the open div., Mike Bagner -3, myself and Tahoe Joe with a +1. Skull Brown, Mitch Carbone, John Lipnisky, George Kimberline and one other guy played masters, I have no idea how they finished. I have copies of their scorecards if anybody wants to know what par is on the course since they do not have tee signs yet. The course is pretty easy to navigate but playing with a local would be a big help, look for orange flags and streamers.

Tony C. Majin has taken over the weekly for the present time and is doing a bang-up job. He put up with 25+ players last night for singles.
Capt Sapp took 1st in gross with a -4. I took 2nd with a -3 by bogeying 2 of the last 3 holes. :( A bunch of other blokes shot -2 to share minimal cash.
Michigan Brett aced the short fire pit hole for 200+ simolians. dog! It was his own basket.
Next Wed. will be doubles.

Only 11 players braved the 100+ temperatures last evening for a quick round of 20 holes.
Dog and I were very hot too, shooting a -14 and winning by 4. Tony C took home the ctp mini from the Winterjam. This is the first time in quite a while that there have been zero Modesto players (Dog doesn't count) here for the weekly.

Sixteen golfers showed up for doubles last night. There was a mix of Stockto's and Modesto's. Usually I eschew the doubles format, but Demarcus gave me a free ride so I went. I drew Ray for a partner and together we shot -11 to take first cash. Dog and Russ tied Wally and (I can't remember) with tens. Nice weather in the eighties with slight wind. Tony C. is learning quickly how fun it is to run the weekly.

Tons of disc golfers from Modesto to Sacto(Q) were there last night with the ace creeping up toward 400 bones. The weather was hot and there was not a breeze to be felt. Sounds like a recipe for low scores.
There was a ctp prize on hole 2, but I can't say what it was because that would incriminate me. Let's just say that it was something very unusual.
When the smoke cleared, RJ and I had -11's, tied for 1st with Ryan close behind with a -9. I think Krash and Steve LeRoy shot -8's.
As for the ace and the Ken Climo autographed disc, Michael Wallace took care of those. He ace #5 in the short with his old school roc with the DeLaVeaga picture on it.
When he came to collect his autographed disc, I had made a fake autographed disc on a shark that had been run over on the pavement. He didn't even know the difference until I gave him the real one. Like TBS: very funny!

Last night at 8-mile: Michael Wallace bought beer for his contituents last night in response to his ace last week. That was cool. A little Sierra Nevada and some lesser beers were served cold out of his ice chest.
Lardog and Sapp took the top honors with a -17 over a 21 hole layout. Russ A and I had a -15 for 2nd place money.
Johnny Blue took home the 10 scratchers for his ctp on hole 9 on 9/9/09.
Oh ya, Wallace hit another ace with his *wraith on hole 14!!!!! Don't think he'll be buying too much beer with his $65 winnings. Maybe a case of water is in the cards.

A bunch of freaks gathered for some disc golf Windjammer-style. It was singles night and there weren't any ladies.
Capt. Snappenfield took low honors with a -10, followed by -9 by ____________(can't remember the bagger) and -8's by Steve LR and myself. I took home a whopping $2. Weirdly enough, no aces were hit.
Thanks to Matt from Mass. for dropping by and playing a round with us. Hope you had fun.
Rumor mill: San Francisco's ace pot is @ $900!!!
Good luck, Sapp, at the gold pan. Take down Anthon and win a $50 bounty from the Delta Windjammers!!

Tony C needs to post. Don't know who took $$$, it was not me with my -1 nor Russ at -3 or Meredeath at -1. Anthon showed and was not happy about his -10 handicap. Russ wants to play doubles only from now on to draw more club members to play. Saturday weeklies are just around the corner.

Anthon shot a -12 and Sapp had a -7 from what I hear.
I can't believe Anthon would cry about his handicap(it is what it is)...or can I? Come on, Josh! You need to run a weekly or two.
Next week is doubles anyway, Russ.
Anyone want to hit up the Santa Cruz monthly tomorrow? Let me know. KL

The last Wed. nite weekly came to an end for this year with RJ and Ryan raking in all of the money. They shot a -16 with RJ chipping in with an ace on hole #14.
Saturday weeklies will now begin this weekend...and yes, we know there is an ace race in Modesto...we made the announcement.

3 hardy souls showed up at 8-mile this saturday. Even with the enticement of RJ's ace beer, more couldn't make it for a variety of reasons.
Tony, Ryan, and Goldie probably played a speed round.

Rhino and I got lucky enough to team up for doubles and shoot a -12 for 21 holes to win the big prize.
Rhino also won the ctp (free disc of choice) for his 2nd shot on the par 4, hole 21.
11 Windjammers braved the excellent weather.
I went home and became increasingly p-o'd by the non-stellar performance of my Nittany Lions.
Screw Ohio State!

You guys better kick some bootie at DeLa. Especially Bunches, whose borderline player rating kept him in Intermediate. Don't let that beach lifestyle get the best of you. Where's Krash??
