As many of you know the PA State Championship will be held at The College Lodge in May. Many of you might not know what our plans are to update the course in the spring. I'll let you know as much as I know for now.
First off, I've heard it a thousand times and I 100% agree that something has to be done about the tee box on hole 4. No, we are not planning on leveling it out but, we are going to eliminate it. The Blue tee will become the White tee and a new blue tee will be in place. This will make the new white tee longer but I always got the same distance from old blue than I did from the old white, just because it was level.
The next thing is that we will hopefully have the B sleeves installed. Most B positions will add distance and difficulty to the course. Some will even change the par for that hole. For instance, Hole 1, Blue tee to B, will become a long and narrow with OB Par 5. Hole 4's B position will be cut into the woods to the left of A's position. I can see my disc rolling down the hill as I type this. Hole 14's B position will be half way up the hill between A position and the path to 15. This hole will also become a par 5 from blue tee to B. If anyone would like to know about other holes let me know.
With the new B positions in place that will make 4 options of play, which is what we plan on doing for the State Champs.
Rd 1 - Whites to A
Rd 2 - Blues to A
Rd 3 - Whites to B
Rd 4 - Blues to B
I'm NOT 100% positive this will be the particular round format but it's something to that affect. That will be Michael D's call.
Other than those changes spring maintance will be under way soon. I'll keep you posted to when those days are so yinz can help.
