Wesdesday Mini @ The Vet:

There is a mini this Wednesday the 21st. WE WILL START AT 6:15 SHARP. If you are not signed up by 6:00pm you are out of luck. NO WHINNERS.

Starting the 7th of March we will be holding the mini weekly ( March 11th is the start of Daylight Savings Time ). Now , not to confuse you - starting the 7th the Mini will start at 6:30pm and you need to be signed up by 6:15pm and no later. This should allow time for people to get there. We will not wait - Others are not going to pay the price for your last minute decision to play. Please plan ahead because when the weather is better and there is more daylight I expect there will be a bigger attendance.

Thanks to ALL for their support. If you need to get ahold of me - call my cell 817.637.5023

If you plan to play on the days I run the mini you'd better be signed up at 5:55 or you won't be playing. It's one thing to deal with 3 or 4 cards starting that late but a whole different story with 30 or 40 people.

Also, we need to keep the start times uniform so we don't have people showing up late thinking they can play. Then again if we reinstate the $5 late fee this could work out to our advantage :D.

Ok. I tried to give everyone a chance to get there without someone showing up at the last second. That was shot down. So 6pm start it is - If you show up late you dont play. As jason put it - 5:55pm or later and you dont play. By the way - I'm only trying to help out - not cause controversy. sorry for the mix up people.

Jason knows you were just trying to give people a little more time to get to the park. The problem is we run out of sunlight very quickly. For people like me (old) we can't see anything as the sun goes down. I've been so busy with work (can you believe they actually expect me to do stuff here?) that I didn't see your original post. Mini at the Vet tonight.

Dont be scared of the rain and bring your lights. The Ace was hit by Deacon Joe :( last Wednesday and starts all over again tonight. Starts at 6pm so be signed up by 5:45pm. We had a great turnout last week and thanks to all who did play.;) :D

By the way, about this league thing on the FFL and Crowley thread.... Support your existing courses. You will be taking away support for Cedar Hill by pulling people to a leauge - if it started on Saturday afternoons. :o:p

Mar 21 2007, 01:33 PM
Is there a better time you could think of to do a league on? I just see it pulling people together not separating them like clubs tend to do! I think by donating to the courses when league is played that it will help out in the long run! Just my 02

I really do understand the concept but I have a hard time understanding why people don't support Cedar Hill as much as they should, My personal Little problem I guess eventhough I don't run things out there. That course does not pull enough people for some reason. Just supporting a friend / fellow disc golfer.

I could see it as maybe every two weeks. That could give the standing courses their time to local involvement as well as spreading love to other courses. What ya think?

John, Nah! Just when that **** Orange comes around. Roll Tide - BOOOOO Vols. :o:D

With my schedule I would rather have it every 2 weeks! I try to make it out to mini's whenever I can just usually happens to be Crowley's on Saturday morning! But there never seems to be enough time! I would like to see something run that supports each course in the metro and not one specific club if it is going to be held at more than one course! Hopefully we can work something out where everyone can be happy about the out come and see it as a positive thing instead of incroching on there clubs mini's!

DGBAMA92

DGBAMA92
Mar 21 2007, 05:02 PM
I didn't say anything about encroching on other minis. And I am not knocking it. BUT, there has to be some realization that what is good for many is not good for all. Hence , you only make it to crowley mostly of the time "as you say it". I try to support all the minis as much as I can. Now here is the Whole Enchilada - All Clud Directors need to get together and hash this out and present it to the players at minis. I know not everyone will attend but a great # may. Please don't take this as a lash out and really didn't have an opinion untill now. I would like to try it out but not at others expense / or hurt other courses. I would like to know what Brian at Cedar Hill thinks.

Mar 21 2007, 06:42 PM
There is a simple solution to this problem. This proposed league play can exist harmoniously in conjunction with ANY mini in the metroplex. All it would take is an additional cost associated with the existing mini..

For example ...

Let us assume for a moment that a core group of league players choose to participate . Once a month, this league could visit another mini in the metroplex. Cedar Hill , Lewisville , Crowley, Grapevine, etc.. On top of the cost associated with the mini, tack on an additional 5 dollars towards league play.. 1 to the traveling ace pot , 1 to the club running the league, 3 to the pay out . Run this league , keep track of scores and players in attendance. Run the league for 6 months, or whatever . At the end of the 6 mos. , you would have 12 "events" with all monies being allocated to the " statistical " winner's of the league..

Presume 20 players per mini, 2 times a month , for 6 mos..

12 minis with 20 players @ 5 dollars each . That would generate 240 dollars in ace money, 240 in club funds, and 720 dollars to pay out at the end of the series.... The rest is self explainitory...

Just my .02.

This way, the people get what they want .
The courses will have new players @ their mini's . coughcoughCedarHillcoughcough
And everybody has a good time ....

THink about it !

Not to shaby.. And the coughing? Keep it to your self. Just supporting a friend / course. :D

You misunderstood.. I was trying to promote a secret agenda.. :DBrian is also a friend... I also have left a pint of blood or two installing that course...

24460
Mar 21 2007, 07:50 PM
That is a fantastic idea Lee. You could take that extra dollar for the course fund money and put it towards the FFC. So 1 dollar would go to the FFC, 1 dollar would go to the ace pot, 3 dollars would be used for payout.

I think you would have to set up a minimum of events played to qualify for the winnings at the end. Say 8 out of 12 minis.

I think you should play Cedar Hill, Z-Boaz, Veterans, Crowley, Fritz Park.

Crowley 2 minis
Z-Boaz 2 minis
Veterans 3 minis
Cedar Hill 3 minis
Fritz Park 2 minis

I also helped with the install of the course. It was more of a smirk glance /msgboard/images/graemlins/smirk.gif. for the respone of "keep it to yourself".
No worries here. By the way #2 tag lies with me from the Vet mini last night. :o:D

Well the ace pot capped at $750 and we added $34 to the reserve and Eric McCabe took the $750 home with him when his first shot of the round crashed into #5s basket. Eric had just joined the club less than an hour before. He also won $64 for first place Open for a total of $814 in his first mini with us. Not too shabby. Congrats Eric.

Vet's is pretty easy/boring from the Wed night pads. It's more about fun, friends, and frisbees on Wed night. 15 under is, or at least was(in case somebody has bested it) the record shared by Nolan, Jendel, and myself. Jendel and i did it in a normal fashion. 15 birds no bogs. I was with Nolan when he shot his 15. He bogeyed his 1st hole, parred his 2nd hole, and birdied out(16 in a row) for 15 down.

KM has a deadly thumber and it can be used on all of the holes. I would actually be surprised to see him throw something other than a Thumber from the pad on Wed night.

Never said he was not an impressive player, throwing that many different thumbers is a skill all in it's own. What it does say is that those short tee's are lacking in shot diversity. 50 Z xtremes is a lifetime stash. I ordered 100 of them when they 1st came out. Started to sell them off once i realized how long they last(2 years.) Only have 15 or so left since i started letting them go.

Keith likes the X xtreme which beats in a lot faster than the Z. Last i heard he only had 20 or so left. Discraft 86ed the X Xtreme and has to be begged to run more Z's before they do.

Thanks to all who came out - I sticked around for yall. Just to see how bad it really was. By the way - getting home was tough also - water up to my door in the truck in some places. 2nd gear and 5000 rpm to push through. Hope all made it home ok.

May 29 2008, 03:54 PM
Almost all aces are luck!

I liked to see Rick hit that ace but somebody needs to tell him what card he was supposed to be on because it was not that one. We had to jump past them when they were on hole #5 and when we got to hole #16 they were just walking up to hole #11!

And when we asked them on hole #5 if we could play through they said hell no! Mickey is slow enough by himself I think if there is a group playing that slow they should let the people that they are holding up go by.

And Nice shooting Jeremy who now has the #1 bag tag. :)

May 29 2008, 05:32 PM
Almost all aces are luck!

I disagree. Aces off of a tree.... That is luck!

cgflesner
May 29 2008, 05:58 PM
No all aces are luck.

An ace occurs when your disc is about to go 65' past the target and instead in hit the chains. This is why Am players are almost always the ones who end up taking down ace pots. Every ace I have is pure luck.

Maybe you just have so many bad shots you forgot that ctp on every hole is the objective of this game.

I disagree.

I also disagree that ALL of them are luck. I have many skip aces that would have only been 15-20 past, and have several hyzer spikes/stalls that would have been 5 feet past MAX!

I agree that tree/jungle aces and fly by aces are luck.

If memory serves me correctly, there have only been three other times that the mini TD hit an ace. Cold? Cold is okay. Wet is not. Looks like the wetness is forming right on top of FW. Hopefully it scoots on out of here by 5pm.

Mr Grider shot -11 to win. Pretty low score seeing how windy it was. Danny Reeves and myself had discs stolen by kids hiding in the woods on Hole #9. Not cool.

With the pin in the short position I'm guessing it was already pretty dark? We need to send out a scout on the back trail to catch these guys. Maybe I'll go sit and wait there if I'm not able to play next time.

I originally thought the Boss was a CFR disc, but I was mistaken. It will sell for $15.

These should all be VPO custom stamp. I was told directly by the Innova rep that they were to be sold at the regular Champion plastic price.

Ok! The Ace was hit by Mr Hall last week so we are starting over. The Mini will be on tonight - Rain or No Rain!! Be prepared. It will be windy so choose your throwing lines wisely.

See yall after a bit....
