Figured I'd start a new thread to post the financial information on. I'll try to update it frequently so people not only know where we stand but what the Ace pot starts at for each mini. Once we get all of the web stuff straightened out we'll put this on the website instead of here.

This weekend we took care of $700 in debt. Thanks to Skip, Ken Cantrell, the Q's and David Kinter for donating most of that. It's great to have people like you involved and it is very appreciated.

Once again here is the information on the clubs debt:
Innova invoice dated 7/15/2004 $655.44
Innova invoice dated 10/12/2004 $2215.91
Barry Shultz's VPO payout $290.00
Des Reading's VPO payout $220.00
PDGA player's fees and renewals $455.00*
HFDS for NT calenders $60.00

TOTAL $3896.35

Now for the monies the club has right now.

Sunday Ace pot $622.00-Claydog has this in case someone hits it.

Wednesday Ace pot $14.00-In my possesion at the moment.

Club funds $347.00-Claydog has $100 of it to make change or whatever and I have the rest which will be in the bank soon.

It's not much but it's something. At least we're not starting from scratch :D.

Ron Silliman also gave me a '98 VPO Cyclone autographed by John Madden and Pat Summerall this weekend to auction off for the club. I'm trying to figure out a realistic value on it and the best way to auction it off (obviously e-bay is probably the best choice). If there are any sports memorabilia nuts out there who have an idea of what it may be worth please PM me. I'm really at a loss as to how to maximize the value on it.

Jason. I sent you a PM

jasonc
Feb 12 2007, 05:52 PM
Got it. I'm just wondering whether to list it under sports memorbilia also, of course I guess it couldn't hurt. I just can't see a hard core sports collector thinking that would be the piece that his collection was missing.

okcacehole
Feb 12 2007, 06:28 PM
You never know...it only a few cents more to list it under a 2nd header...$50 may be pushing it, but if you can get it the first time around take it.

Make sure you get their names in the listing title

lauranovice
Feb 12 2007, 06:32 PM
Agreed, and I do not think $50 is too much to ask. Although, I do think it would help to have a certificate of authenticity, especially for an odd item for football notables to have signed.
I'm not questioning its authenticity, but it would help collectors purchase.

Feb 12 2007, 06:38 PM
I know the gentleman at Field of Dreams in the Galleria, I wonder if there is anyway he could verify it.

BTW if you've never been in that store you're missing out. Everytime I go in there I feel like I'm 7 years old in a toy store. There's just so many things in there I want but I can't decide on which one, much less afford all of them.

okcacehole
Feb 12 2007, 06:42 PM
I would be he could at least verify the signatures. I haven't been in that store and I live 1 mile north of it, but I sure have my old card collections sitting in boxes waiting for 30 more years to make some cash.

Looks like I may be able to get a Sosa jersey cheaper now that he is a ranger :p

lauranovice
Feb 12 2007, 06:49 PM
or at least ask him what he thinks it would be worth and whether just a notarized statement from Ron Sillemon would be considered a certificate of authenticity. It may be that simple. Who knows, he buy it from you.

jasonc
Feb 12 2007, 07:11 PM
Just from the browsing I've done this could go from $20 to $150. I'll try to get out to the Galleria and see what he thinks. I already sent him an e-mail with a pic and he said there's really no question on authenticity with the signatures from what he can see, but he wants to look at it in person to make sure.

Ron is the man that works up there? Heck I may even have to enter the mall and say hi to sillyman

jasonc
Feb 12 2007, 07:20 PM
No not Ron. I do all of the Xmas decor for the Galleria which gives me way to much time to window shop up there. I've done the fixtures in a few of the stores and bid on ones for that store, that's how I know the owner. Well that and the fact that I go through there drooling at least once a year.

I'm going to place an order for some Innova plastic after the meeting through Circular Productions. Clay and I talked about it and we have to get some revenue flowing. I'm contributing $250 to the order and the club is putting in $100 for a total of $350, which will actually be a total order of around $300.

Just to give you an idea of what it takes to carry a nice selection of discs (not to mention clothing, bags, quad shocks, minis, towels, etc.......) here is something that might surprise you. If I ordered 5 of every star disc currently available the ADGA would be carrying $2210 in retail value of discs . That's the AM payout for most C-teir events. Contrary to popular belief we do not make anywhere near normal retail mark up on discs, normal retail mark up hovers between 132% to 178%****** and can sometimes go far beyond that(makes you think about that last item you purchased huh), so we need to be selective.

I wasn't posting this for ideas on what to order, just to give you an idea of what's going on.

*****I'll cut out the impending backlsh on those percentages before it even happens. It depends on the company, whether you buy from a wholesaler or manufacturer, if your relatives and or spouse are willing to do sexual favors, etc...........It could be anywhere from 2% to 10,000% if you want to guage on all of that. Those #'s reflect the mark ups I saw when I was in purchasing for a retailer.

Just a quick rundown on the positions of the charter that were filled.
Chairman: me
vice cairman: Skip Maxwell
Director of finance: Jason Chamberlain
Director of membership/secretary: Pat Brenner
director of promotions: Greg browning
director of facilities: David Kitner
We had the best turnout for a disc golf meeting I've ever been to with the exception of those kind of meetings where pitchforks and torches are invoved. I'm so proud of not only the long time members who have helped with cash, but also the younger members who have stepped up to help out and fill positions. We have a long road ahead, but we will come out the other side in the black. Thanks to all of the ADGA members and it's supporters, Clay

$260 in donations on Thursday night which will give us enough to make a decent plastic order without dipping into club funds. Since we can not order direct right now our cost per disc is higher which will result in a temporary price increase for plastic. Once the new constitution is approved by the membership ADGA members won't be affected by this.

Thanks to all of the people that are stepping up and all of the others that have expressed their interest. Once we actually get this mess under control and hold elections we should see a great turnout for it.

Jason

The final payment has been sent to the Readings. We can mark them off our list of debts. Hopefully we'll have another Sunday like last week and we can make the final payment to Barry. I'm hoping the Innova plastic will be in, and we should have a whole bunch of sweet Discraft product from John. :D

Barry is paid off and the club fund is at $539.

I can't thank the people that have donated their time, money, thoughts, etc.....enough. Without the members that have been there through this we would not have an ADGA. My thanks to all of you.

I ran the mini this morning and just wanted to post that we had another very good showing in all divisions and combined with new memberships and the raffle and CTP and disc sales we were able to bring in just shy of $500. Add to that $500 that Terry T. put in and it would be safe to say we are well on our way to getting back on our feet. Thanks to everyone for their concern and helping hands.
We are planning to hold the Fling again this summer and as the TD I hope to serve it with a twist of lime. :DIt will be a C tier event.
I will also get to serve as the TD for the VPO. Something I haven't done for seven years and am happy to do once more. It will be an A tier event as usual. ( All of this pending PDGA approval )
