Plans are already under way. I am posting some information about this year's event. More importantly, I would like feedback so the 2007 WBTYA is the best yet. Please send me a private message or email me at mike@s-curvediscgolf.com.
What: PDGA Sanctioned B Tier Event and United States Amateur Disc Championship Qualifier - Am Nationals is taking place June 15-17 so the WBTYA may be one of the last qualifiers in the country.
When: Saturday and Sunday, June 2-3
Juniors, Intermediate and Intermediate Women will play Saturday, June 2nd
Advanced, Advanced Women and Advanced Masters will play Sunday, June 3rd - an Advanced Grandmasters division may be offered if there is enough interest
Where: Sussex Village Park - tournament central will probably be back at Sussex Bowl
Who: 144 amateur disc golfers (72 per day) - the field is being decreased so there will be no more than a foursome on any hole
Why: Why not?
Miscellaneous:
Registering in advance will be mandatory. An event like this takes months of preparation. All that is asked of the players is that they register a few days ahead of time. Seems fair to me.
The online registration fee will be lowered from $5 to $3 or $4.
That's all for now. The website (http://www.s-curvediscgolf.com) should be updated within a few weeks with more information.
Again, I welcome your feedback and look forward to seeing many of you at what promises to be a great event.
Thanks,
Mike

Jeez, I just posted info on the event and something has already changed. Because Am Nationals is less than two weeks after the WBTYA, it is unlikely that those who qualify at the event will actually go on such short notice. Keep in mind that Am Nationals is a three day event beginning on a Friday. The course is one of the toughest in the sport so at least a day of practice is a must (and a single round takes 3-4 hours). Plus, the drive there takes about 6 hours (from Milwaukee). Most of the people from Wisconsin who attended Am Nationals last year (myself included) left Tuesday or Wednesday and came back the following Monday.
With that said, the WBTYA will now be a C Tier event instead of a B Tier which was needed to be an Am Nationals qualifier. This will not adversely affect the payout in any way, shape or form. Those who have attended the Wham Bam Thank You Am in the past know it has one of the biggest bangs for your entry fee buck.
Again, please send me a private message or email me at mike@s-curvediscgolf.com with questions, comments, suggestions, etc.
Thanks,
Mike

I am slightly offended that you didn't move the tournament to the Monday to coincide with our anniversary. See if I play your tournament.
Shucks, I'm just teasing. I wouldn't miss WBTYA for anything! When can we send in registration? (Need to get mine in before Steve and Kyle.) Hopefully this will be another record-breaking year for women attending the tournament! BTW, we're buying a new camera, so we can take extra deluxe photos this year.

I know, I've got some nerve! I'll post something here when registration is up and running. It'll probably be at least a few weeks.
2004 - 2 women
2005 - 13 women
2006 - 18 women
2007 - ??? I'd love to see 24 women at this year's event. Help make this happen by spreading the word.
Thanks,
Mike

http://www.s-curvediscgolf.com will updated and ready for online registration by March 1st. The online registration fee will be lowered from $5 to just $2 (just enough to cover the PayPal fees). An entry form will also be available for players who wish to download, print and register through the mail. Registration for this event closes Thursday, May 31st.
The sanctioning agreement has been sent to the PDGA, course has been reserved and I am contacting existing and potential sponsors almost every day. It's great to see the event taking shape this far in advance.
Again, please send me any questions, comments and suggestions through a private message or email - mike@s-curvediscgolf.com

http://www.s-curvediscgolf.com has been updated and registration is now officially open. Players may register online. The online registration fee has been lowered from $5 to just $2. A registration form may also be downloaded from the website for anyone who wants to register through the mail. Please note that registering in advance is mandatory. There will be no on site registration. The registration deadline is Thursday, May 31st. I am committed to running a high quality event. There will be no more than a foursome on any hole. That means that this year's field will be smaller than last year's 158 players. Don't wait! Register soon to guarantee yourself a spot.
As always, I welcome your questions and comments. Please send me a private message or email me at mike@s-curvediscgolf.com. I look forward to seeing many of you at this year's event.
Thanks,

Payout looks like it'll be over 170% - twice the required payout for a C Tier. Raffle has $2,000 worth of great stuff including 5 baskets. There will be $1,000 in CTP prizes including a couple just for the girls. Lifetime Disc Sports will be vending giving players the best selection of merchandise around. Players' packages will once again be top notch. I got my first look at this year's artwork for the discs and was not disappointed. One female particpant will win back her registration fee each day through a free drawing.
The custom discs will be ordered soon leaving over $3,000 on my credit card (it hurts just to write it). This is my plea to anyone planning on playing in this year's event...please register soon. Forms and online registration (costs only $2 more) are both available at http://www.s-curvediscgolf.com. Don't wait until a week or two before the tournament and find yourself on the outside looking in when the field is full.
Please contact me at mike@s-curvediscgolf.com with any questions.
Thanks,

I'd like to echo almost all of those same remarks. In the past 2 or 3 days I've seen over a dozen people register including 6 just on Wednesday. Both online and in the mail! I have a few more to put in but right now I'm up over the 76 (http://www.pdga.com/tournament/tournament_results.php?TournID=6344) that are shown here. I will try to be at Dretzka next week with flyers but let's not cut it too close people. The late fee deadline is just one week from today.

I couldn't make it to Brown Deer tonight, but will be at Dretzka on Tuesday for league play with registration forms. Online registration is also available at http://www.s-curvediscgolf.com. The field is only about 20% full, but that number is sure to swell over the next few days.
As always, please send me a private message or email me at mike@s-curvediscgolf.com with any questions.

This event should payout about 170%. The players' packages are great. This year's raffle has $2,000 worth of great merchandise including 5 baskets!!! Plus, there will be almost $1,400 in ctp prizes including a couple of surprises.
I will be at the Greater Milwaukee Open this weekend and would be happy to take anyone's registration there. For locals, I'll also be at Dretzka on Tuesday and Valley View on Wednesday.

The event is just a few days away. Registration has picked up considerably over the past couple of days. Online registration at http://www-s-curvediscgolf.com has been extended and will remain available through Friday. On site registration will be offered on a first come, first served basis each day beginning at 8:00 at Sussex Bowl.
The raffle is not limited to tournament participants so anyone is welcome to take a shot at winning fantastic prizes including 5 baskets. Also, keep in mind that you do not need to be present to win. If you can make it, the raffle will take place at Sussex Bowl following the awards ceremony on Sunday.
Please contact me at mike@s-curvediscgolf.com with questions. I hope to see a lot of you there.

If necessary, a waiting list will be created. Any spots that are vacated either morning will be filled on a first come, first served basis. There are still plenty of spots open in the various Advanced divisions on Sunday. Anyone who wants to play on Sunday may register online through Saturday or in person at Sussex Bowl on Saturday or Sunday morning. Please contact me at mike@s-curvediscgolf.com with any questions.
