It's on the Eastern edge of campus near Campbell.

Very flat ground with a few trees.

It looks like it has Discatchers with a red/orange chastity belt.

My neighbor I met tonight just said he hit his very first ace on this course...he called it a pitch and putt but said the course itself was very nice..

Did you go play this Duke or just drive by it???? How is Mesquite coming??

I just drove by and saw the lengths from a few tee to pin. It looked to be fairly pitch and putt, with very little useful obstacles in the part of the course I could see.

Mesquite update.
Paschall (18) is going well. The course design has been approved, and they are looking to get started clearing the wooded holes soon. I'm hoping for it to be in the ground by the end of the summer. Rough preview (http://www.lsdga.com/images/Paschall/Paschall.html) There will be some changes to lengths. 12 & 13 will have combined tees because they are clearing much more than I anticipated.

DeBusc(9) and Porter(9) should be reviewed within a couple of weeks.

Porter is on the back side of Palos Verdes Lake Park. next time you are at Audobon, go south on Northwest Dr. across I-30 and take a look at the park on the right. The initial course will be a beginner course near the school.

Is that the park that just looks like a huge sloping hill from Northwest? Everytime I drive by that park I just want to run up that hill and chunk some discs...assuming we're talking about the same place :D

The hill slopes down from the East.
If the hill slopes down to a pond, then yes, it's that park.
Or at least the other end of that same chunk of land.

Speaking of new courses...have you heard anything about a course in North Garland near Firewheel Mall (George Bush Turnpike & 78...i think)?

I buddy of mine mentioned something about it to me 2 years ago, and I hadn't heard anyhting else about it until just the other day...some guy at BB Owen told me that it supposedly got approved. From what I've heard (and this is ALL hearsay), there is a ball golf course out there that has some extra land nearby...that's where the new DG course is supposed to be installed.

Anybody heard anything about this?

Also, is Flag Pole Hill ever going to happen? Scott Cook said something about it last summer at a mini at Audubon, but havent heard anything else since then....

Flag Pole hill is still in the works. It is closer now than ever before.

it will be two/three 18 hole courses with 1 set of baskets. Looking to rotate, between the hill (north of the Flag Pole hill we have played in tournaments) and the lower bottoms (used at a tournament 2 years ago) and even White Rock Lake. There is a new guy in charge who says he will get it pushed though. It is not a matter of DDG not having there act together, but a matter of getting the course approved by the homeowners association. (the Flag Pole hill association killed it a few years ago, however the leadership has changed)

Scott Cook was working on a 9 hole course near Firewheel, but I haven't heard any updates on the progress.

I think the park is off of Brand Road and now surrounded by the expanded Firewheel golf course.

I haven't heard of any other courses in that area.

Im sure I am in the minority about this, but, I think 9 hole courses are a BAD idea.....

I depends on the circumstances and desires of the local community.

9 hole courses are put in where there is space limitations, or situations where the neighbors or parks dept do not want a tremendous influx of players from outside the area.

pretty baskets.

if you don't have something nice to say, don't say anything at all :D

Actually, they made ok use of the few trees that were in that field.

just turn in the main entrace off Cambel and go to the security/information booth. They will scan your DL and give you a visitors permit. Then just turn right into the 1st parking lot and go all the way to the back corner of it. #1 is just across a one way road. Took Raven and I about 30/40min to play the 9 holes.

It was very windy today. Most of the holes were about 200-250 range, but there was a 400 and a 300 foot hole (no trees on the 400 ft hole, my putt got spit dang it)

Because of the wind, I only shot 3 down even though I was putting on 7 of the holes. (lots of missed birdy putts)

Raven had fun, but at least 2 times threw the disc and the wind took it behind him. He still finished all 9 holes. Not bad for a 5 year old. He said he enjoyed it. He liked the fact most of the holes were short for him. He liked it much better than trying to play in Rockwall :D
