Don't forget that the baddest of the winter tournaments, The Big Chill, is coming soon. January 27th and 28th at UW Parkside, and as always, "No wimps, no whiners, no crybabies!"

Pre-reg forms will start coming in soon, don't get left out 'in the warm' hanging on a waiting list!

I was just looking at the site. Why is there a Harbeck Memorial hole? Did he or his wife pass away? Do not mean to bring any bad memories up But I was just wondering he is a good guy.

My understanding is this:
Harbeck was playing the course a few days before the Prairie Open. When he was on the platform he was stretching his back near one of the edges...and yes, you may have guessed, he fell over the railing. I'm sure someone can explain a little more.

LOL I seen Bingman do the same thing.

Mr. Harbeck landed on his head and shoulder area, and pretty much messed up his shoulder for the rest of the year. Someone who was there told me that he was pretty lucky (and we all were pretty luck as Dan is a good friend) that his injuries weren't worse.
Since then, some of us have been referring to the tower on hole 9 as the 'Dan Harbeck Lookout Below', or the "Dan Harbeck Memorial".

Don't know if it is still there, but at Larry Ast's home course, he has a tree platform for a tee that had a 'No Harbecking' sign (a picture of a person upside down and falling surrounded by the universal red circle with a slash through it) attached to the railing.

Hey, does anyone know how I can get a hold of Dave O'Keefe? I found a disc of his on Sunday morning on hole 18 (30 feet from the basket) at Dineen. He must have left it Saturday night, and his group must have been having one heck of a round as we found two other discs (one right next to the basket on 17, one on hole 14 or so) that morning, all of them pretty much in the open.

Is it just me or is registration a little slow paced this year?

It is a little slower than normal. I'm sure the same thing will happen like what does for almost all events ... people will wait until the very last minute and then it will be a mad rush and when someone gets shut out they will complain that it's full and beg to get in.

I dread not having a full-field before an event because pre-registration makes it go so much smoother. Everyone should do themselves and the event a favor and get registered asap. Heck, that goes for any event you are planning to attend. It's easier to get your money back then to get in off the waiting list!

way off thread here but what the hey-- Coming from a guy who thinks New Balance has a monopoly on world footwear, here is the essential question: Do they have width sizes or just the standard D?

Being a long time wearer of New Balance, I always bought the wide pairs and have no problem with the Bite shoes. Terry having pairs there will allow for someone to try them on if your going to be there! Best way to feel if they will be good to your feet. I think they definately fit more closely to a wide version of NB shoes.

What a great time...I picked the wrong day to suck but thats the beauty of it! Congrats to all the winners, the conditions made work of that second round. Thanks Tom, Uncle Joe, Mary, Rich, Serg and the rest of the Big Chill staff, I loved tournament central. Not as dark and smokey as the Orchard but the beer tasted just as good. I'd also like to thank my partner Rob Strousser who drove all the way from Bloomington. Thats about a 3 and a half hour drive.

So glad to hear that everyone had a good time! I'm included and not as sore as I thought I would be ;)
Did anyone lose their boots on Sunday? I found a pair of big, black, LaCrosse boots with red socks in them. They were at a table near the stage. Anyone?
