no golf for me today - had enough yesterday :)
VPO is up next, then the Lewisville Open. A few weeks after that is Tyler. So far, I have $20 from Krell for VPO sponsorship. If anyone else is going to put in on that, please bring it with you to the VPO.

I think most of our group waited too long to sign up. I know that Jack and Steve are playing MM1, but I think I'm the only MA1 from the group. The VPO Am B-tier filled pretty fast and a lot of people didn't get in... hopefully next year they will split weekends and fill both tournaments :)

I moved to Rowlett earlier this year and call the Rockwall course home. I need to know where I can buy discs. I would prefer to buy from someone who plays/promotes the sport over a place like Dick's sporting goods. I bought one from a dude at B.B. Owen last week, but it was not like he was a vendor with a selection of discs. They were just lying on the ground at the first tee. Thanks for any help and sorry for the thread drift.

Also, you can usually find "Old Man" Tom McCutcheon at Lake Park on Saturdays with several boxes of discs for sale. Play It Again sports isn't always as great of an option, but some of the stores do support local DG tournies. The Carrollton and Crowley PIAS stores are good examples of stores that support local DG.

G. to the McD. always has back problems. It's just a matter of how well his meds are working that weekend. Where's Dukie? It won't be the same without hearing him pack his ciggies for 30 minutes straight, or holding the cards extra holes because "it's working for him". :o

Yes, when i spoke to Adam I had more than a few cfo's in my belly
Story of the weekend is "Nate brings it home!" Averaging 1000 rated golf all weekend.. Yeah baby!
Parker pulls the come from behind victory. (I'd like to see what he does going in to the final round with the lead.).
Bucky punches me in the chest because I told him he had a good shot. (and i did edge him out by a stroke ;) )
2nd best ring of fire ever!

Too bad the touney wasn't held just at the lake, Parker and I would have tied. Or, maybe I should be glad that the touney wasn't held at just LL Woods. If that were the case, only Ben and Lloyd would have kept me from DFL (Deidre and I tied at LL Woods :o).
At least the ring of fire was a success. I won another that snagged me two shirts and three discs, including a gateway putter. That allowed me to participate in the final ROF for players with gateway putters only. The prize was a gateway practice basket. There were pobably only 15 or so others and I was able to win it. Love Gateway discs. Two DD tournaments, two baskets won :) When's the next?!!
Congratulations to Steve. Nice job JJ and Bucky. Nate, way to kick some arse.
BTW, I thought I left all of my crap at LL Woods, but apparently not. I've had to make an hourly visit to the bathroom since about 2:00 am. If it was courtesy of Don Q's food, we'll probably hear similar stories soon.
Now I need to get ready to proudly represent my home course of Crowley next weekend

Sorry Anderson, I don't think it was the food from Don, I am fine and I ate a load with all the beer I drank :DCongrats Parker on another win, you have really seemed to have stepped your game up to another level! Maybe you and Jack both should move on up with the bigger dogs.. :o
As for me I have some practicing to do for Tyler, see if I cant make a showing there after this pathetic attempt at disc golf. This was by far the worst tourney golf I have ever played. Hopefully I got some fuel for the fire and I can take it out on TYLER. :D

Disc golf sucks! :o I had the lead for a few holes until i threw a horribly awsome shot that took off and rolled down the rocks into the snake lewisville, it seemed like i was coming down the stretch on a moped low on gas while everyone else on the 2nd card behind us had super bikes with turbo boosters. I think mike harrell and PT was right about parker, and tabor, challenge yourselves and move up ... How many wins do you need? :)

I still want to do the monthly mini out at The Rock...Between the cross country meets and these local tournaments, it has been hard to put anything together. I have the cards made up and the OB painted (if it is still there)...So we are ready to rock. I think I will try to hold one not this Saturday (Texas Teams), but next Saturday. Does this sound cool with everyone?

PT you gotta start over, however you are bigger than me but you did suck sir.
JJ to start with, i hope my koosie is still in goood shape, as in holds a Coors Light, did it keep all those beers cool for ya.
Buckster get in the snake
Parker nice come back and way to keep that IRS guy in his place, and move up all ready
Jack had two good rounds and then went to playing my kinda golf
Mike way to win the ROF, that could be a nice career for ya
Giles nothing wrong with par, keep up the good work
BBD your score tells you were to go
me i had to work and the rest of the group was doing there usual, spooning with there room mate.

Nate - that weekend will be Turkey Day weekend...
50/50 on who can and can't play that weeeknd...I would be able to play Sat or Sun..but I would still like to help you tweak a few ideas...
once it has a better turnout...I don't mind a 1 division payout off the start, but if it gets larger I would hope to see something past winner takes all and $10 entries..that is almost steep for a mini..maybe not with all of our guys, but overall..
Just some quick idears...I will help if you want...
n8bitner
Nov 12 2007, 10:54 PM
I did decide against the winner take all and went with second and third getting their money back. We will also have two divisions...as it gets larger, we will go with three divisions if necessary.
I don't think I will ever get to hold this thing. I can't do it on Thanksgiving either. It is just not meant to be.

Where is the round this Sat if you are not heading to TX ST's???

Nov 13 2007, 12:17 AM
Yep, if you build it, we will come.
I am new to the area, but play the Rock 2-4 times a week. There are several guys that are interested in weekly minis, monthlies, doubles, whatever. Nobody knows exactly how to go about starting stuff out there. I have no desire to start planning stuff if someone else is already on it. I think an Ice Bowl would be great at Rockwall.
It would be a huge help if we had a wooden message board out there to let the locals know what is going on. Most have no clue about this message board, and none of the guys I have met have joined the PDGA, but say they plan on joining in 2008.
Nate, I will PM you my contact info and maybe we can throw a few rounds together and make a plan for creating a "disc golf scene" in Rockwall.

with no consideration for traffic, here ya go:
take the PGBT East until it ends near Firewheel Mall. There it becomes Northeast Parkway. Continue East on Northeast Pkwy (It will curve and you'll be going S) to Hwy 66 and turn L. You will be going East again. Stay on 66 all the way through downtown Rockwall where it becomes Jackson. Stay on Jackson through the light at 205 in downtown, and the road becomes even smaller. Through a couple of stop signs and the park is on your Left. You'll want to take the last park entrance (I believe it's the third one) and Hole 1's teepads will be at the West end of the parking lot.
If you want to stick to highways most of the way, do this:
S on the DNT to I-635 and go East. Stay on 635 until you reach I-30 (again with the curving South) and go East on 30. Stay on 30 until you reach 205 and exit. Turn L on 205, heading North. Turn Right on Jackson in downtown Rockwall and proceed as above.
Hope this helps.

had a lot of fun this weekend. Friday we played Wilco in round rock. Nice course, worth stopping for if you're in the area. Next was a practice round on the hill at Circle R followed by nine holes of night golf on the meadow.
Day 1 of Texas Teams had us in the toughest pool with teams from Round Rock, McClain, Ingleside (John Boy's team) and Twin Parks. We played well and were close with a 2-1-1 record but McClain advanced with a 3-0-1 record with Round Rock also failing to advance with a 3-1 record.
I think I represented OMB's well with a 3-0-1 record myself. My best match was against Dale Hemmeline from RR on the back of the meadow. We tied with birdes on 11, I pulled 1 up with a birdie on 13, we tied until hole 16. I put it about 18 ft., Dale followed with a great shot inside of mine, so we pushed the hole with 2's. On the last hole, I put my drive under the basket and Dale's ace run was close, but just missed. That was a really fun match.
Sunday found us in the mixmaster. I played three person best shot with Misty Smith and Michael Brownlow on the front of the Meadow. Everyone contributed and we ended up with a 23 including a clutch putt by Michael on the last hole. Only 3 other teams beat us out of the 19 that were playing, so I feel we did well. It was pretty intense watching the scoreboard as cards came in and were posted. As the last card was posted Crowley's total was 88, one shot better than 5 other teams at 89 and nabbed the last advancing spot from the mixmaster.
I played my worst match in the quarterfinals, but Team Crowley came through and advanced to a rematch against McClain in the semi's. I was the last match to finish and my teammates needed a tie or win from me to advance to the finals. I was glad that I could tell them I had come back from two holes down to tie my match. I think I was a little tired in the finals and was handled pretty easily by Mark McCrimmon who didn't make any mistakes. I made some good shots, but a couple bad ones put me out of the match.
Bucky played great all weekend despite suffering unspecified injuries from an alchohol induced face plant on Meadow's 10th tee box Friday evening. Jack represented well despite having to play some tough pro masters all weekend.
I enjoyed the Crowley teammates and camping went much better than I expected. It was a great weekend.

Sunday is going to be a work day at the new McKinney course. We've all played a lot of golf at the existing course, and by the looks of it, we'll all be playing a lot of golf at the new course. Weather permitting, lets get out there and help them clear the course.
If you have cordless tools that you want to use, bring em. If you have gloves, bring em. If you don't have any of that stuff... come out anyway Ron will find something for you to do. This will be happening every Sunday (except the PWPA weekend and the weekend before XMas) from now until Ron says stop. The sooner we get it done, the sooner we can play this great new course.
As for saturday, I was thinking CH either for the mini or just for fun

If it is not raining...I will be playing The Rock in the morning. Probably around 9 depending on the weather. If it is raining, I will not be playing. Call me if you want to play and it is NOT raining.

I sent in the $25.00 for our club today..
you can register for 2008 here at the PDGA Store..make sure to choose OMB VS. YGB as the Club you are renewing under
Thanks for 2007 and 2008 should be even better!!!
Please let me know when you renew so we can keep count of the online regs...I will also have snail-mail registrations for those who need to take that route.
My bad...we are currently waiting on the PDGA to turn our club option on...when the # "08" is listed in front of our club name in the PDGA store, we will then be live to renew...
I am working with Cliff on this now and will update everyone as soon as they take us live

There is another work day for the new course in McKinney tomorrow. Diedre and I will be there at 9:00am to meet the crew at the ACM course, then heading over to the new course. You guys can join whenever... If you can't make 9:00, call me or Ron and we'll give you directions to the place (not far from the ACM). this new course is going to bring some real championship-level golf to McKinney!

Thanks JJ for coming out to help today with the new McKinney course. We managed to get one of the toughest areas cleared out and the rest should go much quicker. This course is going to be great when we get done with it. Multiple tees and pins on nearly every hole. some elevation, lots of length, lots of creek, and lots of tree to deal with. I'm even thinking about skipping the tournament this weekend to get more done. Those of you who decide not to make it out are missing a great opportunity to be a part of building the best golf McKinney has seen yet.

thanks for nuthin JJ..... had you played the Crowley tournament (the new layout at Crowley is tough but well worth the drive across town to play) your dismall showing would have fueled more than enough aggression to finish the McKinney course all by yourself.....

I thought I would use this space to glaot a little...I now have a new personal best at The Rock from the tips!!! +1 without a birdie on 13, 14, or 15...I am pretty stoked about that score.
Now back to your regular programming. /msgboard/images/graemlins/smirk.gif
