we tried that... but there are a few problems. The main one being that there are already local minis on tuesday (Lewisville) and thursday (McKinney and Porter). The other big problem is that we'd all rather play for fun with a regular small group than deal with the hassle of running a real mini :D

We have been talking about doing a club monthly, though. Like one day, two rounds at the carrollton courses. We could sell discs to raise money for course improvements, etc... but then we have to remember that we're in texas and the PDGA schedule here is pretty full most months. Since a lot of us play tournaments regularly... our monthly would be missing a lot of club members most of the time.

Personally, I'm content with the amount we do to help local (and some not-so-local) tournaments... at least for now. I think we're a pretty solid club with a lot of fun, a lot of regular members, and a lot of DG community support. We do all that without the hassle of an officer board, membership dues, or regular structured meetings. I think we're way ahead of the game :)

There are not minis at GB or Porter anymore..nobody stood up to run them this year.

what if a tree blew down on top of a basket that caused a mudslide that hit the retaining wall which immediatly collapsed and slid violently toward rampaging teenagers who were in the midst of confetti-ing a nearby bridge?

I guess that depends on whether or not anyone was there to hear it. Either way, I don't think the city is going to help pay for the repair of any of those things :mad:

The creek in McKinney was supposed to crest at 1 1/2ft over flood levels this morning and not taper off until this afternoon..anyone that might be out there early today let us know how the course is looking.

It very well may be locked down again.

Will they hold the Wednesday mini on July 4th also?

lewisville is never in bad shape. player there last evening (in the rain). the water on 3, 7, and 17 is higher than ever. Except for that minor inconvenience, the course was great.

I used to install radios at best buy about 11 years ago and I did it freelance in college... not much has changed :). You can do it yourself, I can tell you what supplies to buy and you can find the instructions online. it's really not that complicated. Before the wreck, I had a pretty complex system in my bronco and I have installed much more intricate stuff in my time. If you're just installing that iPod adapter, it really won't be all that tough

trust me, you can do it just as well as the pro installer. there are just a few little tricks I can show you and as long as you have the right supplies and follow the instructions properly... it will be simple as pie.

Yeah man we can get it in there, the only prolem is the clips to remove the radio without removing part of the dash. Makeing it so it looks nice is th easiest part even if we have to takes some chit off to get the radio out that s the only ruff area. Between the three of us we can get it if u wanna stop by later if its raining we can pull in the garage a lil and mess with it

I have some of those clips if you need em. I've had a few fords in my time, all of which I've done radio work on. at some point after jacking with butter knives and all sort of other tools to remove the things, I finally jsut went and bought a pair of the "ford radio removal tools". They're at home, though... can we do it this weekend?

Great piece of land that needs retooling already...IMO

while 5-7 are nice shots...the flooding and cross-over factor is bad...8-9 also get stuck with #3 in the way...

the field is always open, but just a crush it course...

After playing PV and the ROCK..Houck has seemed to have lost that risk/reward, punish a bad shot, ect...that San Saba and may other of his southern TX courses seem to have

Todd's brother is in town for 1 week from IRAQ...he hopes to golf, so if the rain holds I hope to be able to shoot Monday or at least Tuesday/Thursday night

still waiting to see if McKinney will happen on the 4th

Thanks Adam. After yesterday morning's round I was afraid the fear of success would hold me back :(. IT FEELS GOOD TO WIN!

We need to play more singles on Thursday's. (If getting better is something we want.) Everyone in our group has got the shots we need to win, we just are not practicing to win singles. Sure some day's we will have horrible scores, but we will get used to it, some days we'll have great scores, but we'll get used to it. It is hard freaking work to get your head in the right place when you have a bad hole or two.

I'm not writing this because now I think I'm great or something. :p This is something that has been on my mind a lot over the last few weeks.

I have to agree 100.7% with one of the days being singles every thing u said was well put. That may have a lot do with folks being upset in carrollton open. If /when i shoot a bad shot i cant learn as well when im not in trouble for it cuz my P bailed me out. I would like to be there for fun dubs one day and singles the other day.

thursday has traditionally been doubles, but I have no problem with us making Tuesday a standing singles round... of course, if you choose, you can always play singles on any given day, just don't flip :D

advanced masters would have been a good tournament had joe bagonowski not showed up.

saturday during the lunch break i grabbed 3 putters to do a little practicing, wandered down to the scoring tent to check on scores, and came across the qualifying for a ctp to win a basket. i had $3 in my pocket (change from lunch) 3 disks in my hand, so i bought 3 throws. to qualify, you needed to hit a 10 foot circle around the basket from about 80 ft. i made all of my throws which gave me three throws in the finals on sunday. on sunday, i put my second throw about 2 inches from the base and waited to see if anyone would nail it. no one did, so for $3 i walked away with a sweet mach V basket.

looking forward to the next DD event at lewisville.

Poor Bucky was shooting -6 after 10 today at Porter when the rains started killing us...Todd, Parker and I were all at PAR :D

Anybody know if there are any weekly doubles or singles at Rockwall? I moved here a month ago and haven't heard of anything going on out there. I might be willing to head some random doubles, I just don't want to step on any toes in the process. Seems a waste to have that course without a local scene to support it. murphy, I think you spoke too soon on the "no rain" comment... looks like a hue cell is headed our way in the next few hours. I guess we can hope it finishes with us early enough and it decides to be nice enough to us while it's here... man I'm getting tired of that.

I might not be in for much golf this week. I've got a standing 5:00-6:00 conference call with (among about 15 other people) my boss's boss's boss. When the CTO of a $20+ billion company asks you to be there... you don't get to play golf :(. If I get to break away, I'll see you guys on Thursday. *please* don't hit the ace tonight. The first one I miss all year and with my luck, it will get hit :D

really? it didn't rain on you guys wednesday? I was sitting in my CTO's office from about 5:30 till about 7:00 (lots of windows that don't look towards McKinney) and all I saw was dark skies and a ton of lightning. I figured you guys got a ton of rain... I guess it only hit south plano.

Just got back from Corpus last night. Had a great time on the beach and U.S.S. Lexington. Was able to play West Guth park and Lamar park while I was there. Nice courses!!
