View Full Version : Sponsor drive for JB Hunt Park

Well I've said it before and I'll say it again, JB Hunt park is the shizzle nizzle. For rizzle. The terrain has the potential for a world class course. I would remind us of the explosion that is heard when an area gets its second course. Loud. The light is green, the door is open and the ball is in our court. I have personally begun to seek sponsors and have had some positive responses... and a lot of no thank yous. I know people are all busy with the holidays and January may be the best time for all of this. Still, I am putting it out there if only to stir up the topic and kick off some ideas. Here is one: if anyone wants to get thier vehicle tinted, I will do it and put the money toward a hole at JB Hunt. Passenger cars $100, trucks $75, two doors $40. Thats is roughly half of what shops charge, and I buy the same quality of product that they do.
Here's another: lets get together and have a workshop on how to talk to people and get sponsors. I know that I have been apprehensive about approaching people and it is not as simple as it sounds. Asking is one thing, but fielding pointed questions can be something else. I believe that it would help build confidence and get more sponsors. Any more ideas?

Larry,
If you'll tint my windows- for free- I'll sponsor a basket.
That would only leave seventeen more!
If not- I'll take the $100.00 package for my Cavalier.
I'll pay for the material, and give you $100.00 on top of that.
You make the call! :)

Over two years ago- prior to the "January 2005 Bloodless Coup" - when I first spoke with Mr. Bohannon of the Springdale Parks and Rec Department about JB Hunt Park, I told him that the (then) Fayetteville Disc Golf Club would help with the design of the course, as well as the the installation of teepads, and baskets.
On behalf of the FDGC, I told him that we would pay for the concrete for the teepads.
The only problem was the one that you guys are still having- they didn't want to pay for the baskets.
I told Mr. Bohannon that the FDGC would pay for one of the baskets, and help raise the money for the rest.
I passed this info on to the current club administration shortly after the "Bloodless Coup".
I realize that I no longer have a say in how the $900.00 (plus interest) in old FDGC funds that I passed on to you guys are currently being used, but it seems that since some of that money had already been earmarked for JB Hunt Park that it could still be used by "the Club" to pay for one of the 18 baskets, or for a practice basket, at JB Hunt Park.
Has the current club administration considered using some of the old FDGC funds to sponsor one of the 18 baskets at JB Hunt Park?
Has the club considered using some of the funds they have raised since January, 2005 to sponsor one of the 18 baskets at JB Hunt Park?
That would make three down, and 15 to go. ;)
See, you guys are already 1/6th of the way there!

Is this a hint that you are going to be a daddy? :o
Maybe your grandkids will do a historical analysis that compares the relative sucess of Bush's invasion of Iraq to that of Northwest Arkansas' Bloodless Coup of 2005. :D
I do remember you being at that meeting ;)
They never seem to spell your name correctly... :Dhttp://www.juggling.org/pics/Pics/grimm.gif

I just visited Lewis and Clark...they were given the opportunity to sponsor the entire course and name it after themselves....that has been declined...and now they have offered to sponsor one hole with the question of " how many more can we sponsor?"....I will visit them again tomorrow! Also Legacy Bank here in Springdale is interested in Community Sponsorship...the details of how much they can give is being researched. And, thanks to Zach, a local DJ passed on the email of their promotions guy and said that we should run articles in Cityscapes and all the local sports editorials...might help raise public awareness and gain support for the course. PM me if you want me to email a copy of the pledge form.
Larry, we should get together, I need approval from the club to spend money printing pictures of the course and a tee sign example, if that's what would help the sponsorship package. Also, the PDGA has put together a promotional package that has articles and stats from around the nation that might be nice to give to potential sponsors. See y'all tomorrow, be there or just blow hot air (it helps keep us warm).

At the monthly meeting last night one of the facts brought to light is that there had been no pledge forms turned in as of yet. Ganzel is about to approach the powers that be to start cutting or otherwise preparing the course. We need pledge forms turned in from those that have talked about sponsoring a hole. This is important leverage that indicates that we are making things happen on our end. Jeff Ash and I have taken hole 12. Our pledge is submitted. Who's next?

We were first!
When disc golfers finish playing hole 12 at JB Hunt they will feel a burning desire to:
1. Hug the other players on their card.
2. Drink burnt coffee.
3. Put away folding chairs.
4. Exchange telephone numbers.

Yeah Boobs for $500 you get your own hole. Any less than that and you have to share the hole. For $1,000 you get two holes, then you can play either one. Are we still talking about disc golf?

Well now the holidays are over and its back to biznaz. I walked JB again yesterday and I am fired up again because it is so awesome. It reminds me of Water Works in KC. World class. The walking trail has been cut and partially gravelled and it changes things a lot. You could drive a golf cart on the walking trail and reach most every hole. If you haven't checked it out yet, do so and you will be going door to door to get the holes sponsored.
Anyway, we need the pledge forms turned from all those who gave verbals to Kelly Ganzel. He needs to show that our end is coming together. So far Jeff Ash and I have taken hole 12. Who's next?
