I just got off the phone with James Persons who is the president of arlingtonveterans.org (http://arlingtonveterans.org) regarding what we could do as a club to help assist them with this memorial. Check out the web page for renderings of the memorial they are planning to honor those who have served to make this country better.

When I spoke with Mr. Persons he was very excited that we as a club might be willing to lend them a hand. When he initially proposed the memorial to the city and parks board he said the 3rd thing they asked was whether or not it would interfere with the DG course and then told him how important the course was to the park. I know that most of the locals are as confused by this statement as I am, considering that we are treated like the ugly stepchild usually. So let's try and use this as an oppurtunity to build a better relationship out there and help out a great cause at the same time. I'm supposed to meet with them Monday about how we can help, we discussed volunteer labor to help get the site ready and a bunch of other things so this could be a great chance for the ADGA.

They are currently about $70,000 short of the funds they need for the memorial and will take donations on the site. What does the membership think about a tourney to raise some $$$$ and help these guys out??

How about giving 50 cents of every person's entry fee each Sunday. Maybe also set up a donation jar with the td and at the disc payout area. If somebody has a dollar left over from payout on discs, maybe they'll donate it instead of taking a mini.

Sounds great. They are looking at towards the end of next year to get this done so we have plenty of time to help them out. I'll come out Sunday (I know that will be a shock) and we can see what everyone's opinions and ideas are.

I don't remember where original hole 8 was, but the artist rendering on their website shows it on the tee of temp hole E.
