You could do a food drive for a local food pantry too. The only rule is no foods containing turkey. :) Chicken soup, hamburger helper, mac & chez, etc. You could have some fun with it. :D

Call it Weight Watchers - no discs more than 150g. Maybe it would attract more women players?

With the Am and Pro Howlers in the books I wanted to update this thread about the Cold Turkey event I have going on at Parkside.
It is Saturday, November 25th at UW Parkside . It is a PDGA Sanctioned C-Tier and we already have the PDGA list of pre-registered players (http://www.pdga.com/tournament/tournament_results.php?TournID=6262) up. Currently we have 4 divisions represented. I will also host any other division that wants to attend assuming we get at least 3 participants in that division. You want to see a Advanced Womens Senior Grandmasters division? I'll offer it as long as there are 3 people that fit that criteria.
As always I ask you to please pre-register. You can do so in 1 of 3 ways.
1) Use my webstore: Take Flight Today (http://www.takeflighttoday.com/product_info.php?cPath=24&products_id=114)
2) Send a check for the correct amount to my home address.
3) Hand it to me in person before Saturday, November 25th.
Any person that registers that day will incur the $10 day of registration fee. Money collected from that day of fee will go towards the $200 needed to offset the cost of running the event at Parkside.
Any questions - contact myself as usual. Terry@prodiscgolfer.com

An update for this event:
At this point the event has 17 registrants. As one can imagine, I'm expecting a huge flurry of registrations to come in during the next week. Remember this, with online registration we have seen as many as 100 registrants sign up for an event with less than a week to go. If you know you are coming please pre-register using one of the methods outlined below!
Right now we have 7 people from WI, 8 from IL, and 1 from MN. Let's get pre-registered!

Holy Cow...
I'm not home right now so I can't upload the new spreadsheet but I will have nearly a DOZEN more people to put up on the site when I get home this afternoon!
I think that will put us near 50 or so for a total. I also haven't received the mail from today. Plenty of people said they dropped it in the mail yesterday so hopefully its in my box when I get there.
Beautiful weather, fun course, and PDGA sanctioning - what more could we ask for? Get signed up before it's too late!

Seriously?
We are now at 63 or so but that doesn't include the 10 to 15 people that have said a) "The check is in the mail" b) "I'll pay online as soon as I can" or c) "I'll risk it and show up that day and pay the late fee".
Well, I honestly don't see any chance for 'day of' registration. I'm unofficially over 75 right now. That leaves only a dozen or so spots left.

One of the most beautiful days of disc golf weather EVER!
95 competitors braved the 50+ degree day at UW-Parkside. EVERYONE played the short tees first round and the Adv, Masters, and Open played long tees second round.
Fun times had by all. Thanks to everyone that pre-registered. We ended up turning away over 20 people when it was all said and done.
Here are the results (http://www.pdga.com/tournament/tournament_results.php?TournID=6262&year=2006&includeRatings=1#Open). Enjoy. Don't delay on registering for all upcoming T-Dogg events or you'll be risking getting shut out.

Another follow up for the event.
Last night I uploaded all of the scores to the website. I also took into account the differences in tee pads for the Open, Masters, and Advanced during the second round.
I also updated Kelsey Brakel's PDGA number so that should be correct as well.
A few moments ago I completed the PDGA report and submitted to the tour manager. That means this event should be included for the next ratings update. Of course it also means that any points you accumulated will go onto your 2006 stats as well (once the ratings update takes place).
If you have any other thoughts, questions, or concerns feel free to shoot me an e-mail. I'm sorry that we had to turn away nearly 20 players between Friday night and Saturday morning. I hope that just encourages you to pre-register earlier for my next event.
PS - I'm glad we didn't add anymore people to the event because we finished up with just the right amount of daylight.
Thanks - TD - Terry "T-Dogg" Miller

The Cold Turkey II is in the works.
It looks like I'll be working with UW Parkside to get some details ironed out but I think this will be a go. It will be very similar to what we did last year but with some improvements along the way.
I can't give too many details because it's not official but here are some of the basics for the event:
- Likely to be held on Saturday, Nov 24th
- PDGA C-Tier
- Much nicer trophies than last year
- 1 Round from the short tees
- 1 Round from the long tees
- Both online and mail in registration available
- At least 100% payout in all divisions
- Rec division will receive a player's pack worth their entry with no additional payout besides trophies

Ha, I wish I could.
However, I am already putting out enough money to make this happen and going to Madison only makes it more expensive from the stories I've heard.
$50 for PDGA sanctioning, $50 for insurance, $75 for UW Parkside Course rental. All of that and it could be a low turnout. I'm not sure why I take the risk but let's hope it pans out.
Eric - get that stuff waived and I'll show up anywhere

When are the major changes to the course happening?
After they happen I might not even go there anymore.
Most if not all the wooded holes will be gone witch is the best part of the course.
Holes 1,2,3,4,11,12,13,14&15 did I miss any? enuff said!!

Knowing Terry, if its being talked about here, its almost certain to happen. Given the changes that are most likely coming to Parkside over the next year, taking advantage of this tournament would be highly recommended. It could be the last Parkside 'original layout' PDGA sanctioned event.
I just hope I can get down to K-town for it. Time to start working on the spouse for a 'free pass' that lets me get away for the day!

You are correct, major changes could/are in process. However, the woods holes are not going anywhere anytime soon. We've been working with the campus to discuss alternatives. All the woods holes will not be removed. Yes, 1-4 will be temporarily gone, but 3-4 will return. That won't happen until next year (we believe). Everything depends on the construction progress.
Don't forget the new nine holes east of Tallent Hall.

I am thinking "The Flying Turkeys". We could get a radio station to sponsor an event where the radio station would rent a helicopter and let live turkeys fly to the ground and all registered players would try and catch one for the next holiday feast! If you can't run that fast, I would try a nice forearm with star plastic aim at for the snood, that would do the trick.
“I hate turkeys. If you stand in the meat section at the grocery store long enough, you start to get mad a turkeys. There's turkey ham, turkey bologna, turkey pastromi,.Some one needs to tell the turkey, man, just be yourself.”

I had to put up a quick update regarding the event. The Take Flight Today pre-registration page (http://www.takeflighttoday.com/product_info.php?cPath=24&products_id=114) is now available. As always, you are more than welcome to just send a check in if you wish. That just costs you a stamp instead of any online fees.
<font color="red"> I'm also trying something I've never done before. I'm offering a group registration discount which significantly reduces the online fees if you sign up with a group of people.
Simply sign up 4 buddies and yourself and then enter the coupon code group15 during the check out process. That will give you a $15 discount on the total cost of the order. </font>
Sign up soon to secure your spot in this event. Pre-registered players are guaranteed a custom stamp disc where walk ups are not guaranteed them.

I have to confirm all of these with Sergio yet but here is what I'm currently planning on for pin placements:
1 - A
2 - A
3 - B
4 - B
5 - A
6 - A
7 - A
8 - A
9 - A
10 - A
11 - A
12 - B
13 - A
14 - A
15 - A
16 - A
17 - A
18 - A
Now that I look at those I wonder if it might be easier to just put every hole in the A position. As some of you know the course only has A positions on a few holes with no other options. Also, we MUST keep in mind speed of play because if we have a decent turnout we will be fighting darkness.
If you'd like to see what these positions look like you can check out the awesome website and detailed course map here: SE Wisconsin Disc Golf (http://sewisconsindiscgolf.org/courses/parkside/uwp01p.html).

Hole #3 would have to be in the B position. The other sleeve was accidently run over by the lawn mower. I would recommend #13 in it's B placement or far left placement (not on the map).
Let me know so I can get the placements in this week and people can practice over the weekend.

How was the doubles on the new 9 holes this weekend?
I received a couple of entries online today and I'm expecting a few in the mail in the next few days. If the weather is nice I might get one final round in at Valley View before it shuts down for the year. I'll do that either Tue or Wed so let me know if you want to meet me and we can play some golf and you can hand me your registration.
