I'll be heading to OK from CO on Friday and have played a few courses on the way, Hays, Ellis (as a 9), Colby (never again unless it's changed), and 1 in Salina (the south course).
Although I'd like to stay near the highway and not wait until Wichita if it's worth the wait or the drive off teh highway (less than an hour) I'd be willing.
Any suggestions, what do you think??
thanks,
-mikew

McPherson is a fun short course
Newton has a cool course at Camp Hawk, don't know what it looks like this time of year.
Both Wichta courses could be worth the stop.
Wellington has a course that was installed this year.
Great Bend also has 2 courses. 1 at the college, and the other at Veterans Park.

Or play Emporia, Tulsa is straight south of us.

Thanks for the info.
As much as I've heard about Emporia, I'm going to OKC (Norman actually, for the OU?CU game) so it'd be a little too much out of the way. Although I know a couple of guys going to the tourney out there next month. I might tag along for that.

I'll throw in a vote for hays. It's your first point of a reasonable amount of civilization - unless you can make it another hour and a half to salina.

Thanks for the input.
We held off until McPherson. Very fun course, despite the wind (which is expected in KS). I wish I would have had the time to figure out the long safari course, that would be a blast! The water was nothing but thin mud, we had one roll in right next to the edge and couldn't find it at all!
I'm thinking next time I'll try out the 18 holes in Ellis, it was a fun little 9 holer when I played it a few years ago. I'm still amazed that so many of these 'out in the middle of nowhere' towns have courses...and good ones too!
peace out,

And if you're ever in CO, post on www.milehighdiscgolf.org (http://www.milehighdiscgolf.org) and if not me, someone will meet you out for a round.

The new 9 in Ellis are pretty fun. Several short wooded holes.
