I was recently contacted by my girlfriend's sister in-law, Robin. She is involved in filming short educational videos. There was a request for videos related to disc golf training. She needs at least 15 short, 1-3 minute videos on grips, throw, rules, etc. Well, she is down in San Antonio, so I gave her contact info down there (Gordon, Olse, etc.). She's not sure just yet, but it may be that she will come up to Lubbock to film (and see family, etc.). So, beware, I may be asking you (Gordo) to demonstrate a forehand, or you (Jeremy) to demonstrate a (Tomahawk), or Vicente to show his short X-Step, and so on. I say more the merrier. We also get to show off the course!

It's a done deal. That guy sure is ugly. http://www.expertvillage.com/videos/disc-types.htm

I sure wish that I was not so hungover that day...messed up on quite a few things.

Patrick nice video. I got a quick question for you. When you were throwing the tomohawk and thumber, how close were you to making those shots in # 7's basket? :D

R-Dub, your name came up last night at Triple J. The videos were really pretty fast to do. I planned to prep a little, but never got a chance...completely winged it....kind of reminded me how I studied for tests back in school.

A few more videos are to be done over Thanksgiving. Feedback has been good (amazingly).

There are now about 30 1-3 minute disc golf 'how to' videos up at ExpertVillage.com. Some are better than others for sure. I hope that maybe the segments might attract or help beginner players out. Feedback on the videos continues to be very good....biggest complaint is the ugly teacher.

Well, a quick update. The videos seem to be working okay. I see that many of the videos have well over 2,000 hits, the expert 'rating' is good, and I've gotten many favorable compliments (email and in person). I've been local and out of town and have had players come up and ask me if I was that one in the videos...hard to go incognito in shorts for me. Everyone that has contacted me at least, has been very thankfull and appreciated that something like this was out there. I know that the videos are not perfect, but I am pleasantly pleased that it appears to helped out quite a few players. ;) Along these lines, I got with the city P/R and have successfully got us listed in the "Recreation and Leisure Services" tri-annual publication. The guide contains info on community centers, services, and lessons for everything from basket weaving to computer classes. Well, Matt, Rob, and I will put on a "Disc Golf Workshop" in early November (two consecutive Sunday's). I'm not sure how all of this will work, but I figure it will expose a few individuals to our world. Required homework: watch the videos. :D

Wow. The videos are now on YouTube and have rocketed to the top several disc golf videos. Once again, I sure wish I would have prepared better...oh well. I had the fun experience in playing with the makers of the other top video, The Guardians of Recreation, at Sipapu recently. Michal and Mark are very cool guys (go to their website). I'm trying to get them to come play in the 2007 BAB adv grand master division.

Hey, Pat -

The Guardians are most definitely good guys. Their pieces are always worth a watch.

Do you have uncompressed versions of your pieces? I'm always happy to feature interesting bits in my show.

Best regards,

Joe

Hi Joe. I was only the 'on air talent' /msgboard/images/graemlins/ooo.gif. I really did not have anything to do with production, etc. I will contact the 'powers' and see what the options are and get back with you. I've got a few more ideas for a few fun videos, but we'll see. If DG Live is in the area or passing through...come try out the BAB.

I'm finding it hard to go incognito at many courses now. Strangely, I get the 'your the guy in those videos'....I probably just need to wear pants more when I play.
